The Next Two Years Of Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, And Austin City Limits Will Stream On Hulu

It’s not always feasible to put a weekend aside and get out to a major music festival, but now three of the biggest will be more accessible than ever, at least for the next couple years: It was announced today Hulu will be the streaming home of Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits (all events put on by C3 Presents) for the 2022 and 2023 events, in partnership with Live Nation.

The next of those festivals is Bonnaroo, which is set to go down from June 16 to 19. Then it’s Lollapalooza from July 28 to 31, followed by two weekends of ACL, from October 7 to 9 and 14 to 16.

Hulu president Joe Earley in a statement, “Hulu and Live Nation are both committed to delivering exceptional entertainment to fans, so we are thrilled to be collaborating with them, again, as we expand our offering to include these three legendary festivals. Each event is unique, but all three bring people together for incredible music, artistry, and experiences, which we are fortunate to be able to share with Hulu subscribers.”

C3 Presents’ Charlie Walker also noted, “The demand for live music is at an all-time high and the live experience has never been more connected to digital. By expanding our partnership with Hulu, even more fans will be able to tune into each of these incredible festival experiences in real-time and enjoy live performances from their favorite artists with the fans on-site.”

Lil Nas X, SZA, Paramore, And Red Hot Chili Peppers Will Play Austin City Limits 2022

This year’s Austin City Limits line-up is stacked with several exciting acts. Upon returning to Austin’s Zilker Park for its annual celebration of live music, ACL has a promising group of headliners.

Taking place over the course of three days for two consecutive weekends, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Chicks, Pink, SZA, Kacey Musgraves, Flume, Paramore, and Lil Nas X will headline both the weekends of October 7 to 9 and October 14 to 16. Texas fans of Lil Nas X will be elated to see the “Industry Baby” rapper live after the initial announcement of his Montero tour didn’t include any Texas dates, due to the fact that his “ex lives out there.”

Also on the line-up are Diplo, Japanese Breakfast, Jazmine Sullivan, Omar Apollo, Bia and more.

While many of the acts will perform both weekends, some acts will only perform one of the weekends. Carly Rae Jepsen, Gayle, Lil Durk, and James Blake will all play weekend one only. Wet Leg, Lucky Daye, Princess Nokia, and Teezo Touchdown will play weekend two.

Miley Cyrus Surprises Fans During Megan Thee Stallion’s Set At The Austin City Limits Festival

Those who attended Megan Thee Stallion‘s set at Austin City Limits on Friday got a surprise: Miley Cyrus crashed the set. Cyrus shared a video of the moment on her Instagram page and it shows her running to join Megan from stage left before briefly dancing the day away. “Dreams DO come true! Me & @theestallion doing hot girl shit!,” Cyrus captioned the post, with Megan replying, “Love youuuu.”

Cyrus’ appearance was quite brief, as she quickly ran backstage after busting out a few moves. It was later revealed that Billie Eilish was also backstage, but unlike Cyrus, she decided against running out there and hoofing up a storm. Cyrus later returned to the stage for a headlining set of her own, which closed out the night.

The Austin City Limits festival will continue throughout the weekend before returning next weekend. Those who attend will catch performances from Billie Eilish, Duran Duran, Tyler The Creator, St. Vincent, Doja Cat, Tierra Whack, Jack Harlow, Phoebe Bridgers, Erykah Badu, Polo G, and many more.

Austin City Limits Adds Tyler The Creator To Its 2021 Festival Lineup After Dropping DaBaby

Days after dropping DaBaby from its 2021 lineup, Austin City Limits Music Festival announced today that it would be adding a set from Tyler The Creator. Set times haven’t been announced yet, but the fest said they were imminent.

DaBaby was dropped by ACL earlier in August after the rapper delivered a bizarre rant during his Rolling Loud set that included homophobic comments and attacks towards those with HIV/AIDS. DaBaby then issued — and subsequently deleted — an apology for his words on social media. “I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made,” he wrote. “Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important.” His (now-deleted) apology was swiftly deemed insincere, with a number of high-profile artists such as Madonna, Elton John, Questlove, and Dua Lipa condemning him for the rant.

In addition to ACL, DaBaby has been dropped by a handful of prominent music festivals; Lollapalooza, Governors Ball, Day N Vegas, and more have all removed him from the lineups to their festivals this year.

As for Tyler, the Call Me If You Get Lost rapper recently offered his thoughts around what it means to be “canceled” (around 2014-2015, Tyler was banned from Australia, the UK, and New Zealand for his lyrics that were deemed to be promoting violence and homophobia). In a particularly relevant-seeming conversation, he told Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning crew:

“People just go back to stuff and go ‘look what he used to do.’ And it’s like yeah, but I’m not on that no more. So what’s your end goal? When people go back and dig up old stuff from someone who’s here now, it’s like hey, what’s your end goal? Accountable… what does that mean? Is the goal, you shouldn’t do that, you should change and be a better person? Not even me, but to whoever they’re saying it to… I’ve been a better person for the last nine years. That was ten years ago. But I think people like doing that to make themselves feel better about themselves.”

Austin City Limits Is The Latest Festival To Remove DaBaby From Their Lineup After His Homophobic Rant

DaBaby’s name has been all over headlines this past week after he made some extremely inaccurate and homophobic comments about HIV/AIDS during his Rolling Loud set. The rant has been condemned by artists like Madonna and Elton John, and even prompted an official statement from GLAADD. DaBaby had been confirmed to perform at several other festivals this year, but event organizers have opted now to pull him from their lineup.

So far, festivals like Lollapalooza, Governor’s Ball, and Day N Vegas have dropped DaBaby from their official lineups after news of his on-stage comments spread. Now, Texas festival Austin City Limits is the latest to follow suit. ACL issued an official statement on their social media Tuesday, saying DaBaby will no longer appear at their two-weekend event in October. “DaBaby will no longer be performing at Austin City Limits Music Festival — lineup update coming soon,” organizers wrote in an announcement.

One week and several celebrity call-outs later, DaBaby finally issued an apology statement Monday. After first complaining that people were quick to condemn him on social media, DaBaby wrote: “I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made. Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important.”

Austin City Limits’ 2021 Lineup Features Billie Eilish, DaBaby, And Miley Cyrus

The Austin City Limits music festival announced they’re making a 2021 comeback, just in time for their 20th anniversary. The Texas festival will take place over two weekends this year, and they’ve officially unveiled their 2021 lineup, which features headliners like Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, and DaBaby.

While most music festivals this year have pushed their event dates back to account for COVID-19 safety, ACL has booked their usual time. Taking place at Austin’s 350-acre Zilker Park, ACL kicks off the weekend of October 1 to 3 and runs the following weekend of October 8 to 10.

Along with headliners Eilish, DaBaby, and Cyrus, ACL has also booked more than 125 acts to perform across their eight stages. They’ve secured artists like Stevie Nicks, Erykah Badu, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Machine Gun Kelly, Black Pumas, Greta Van Fleet, St. Vincent, Modest Mouse, Phoebe Bridgers, Jack Harlow, Band Of Horses, Bleachers, Future Islands, Polo G, Finneas, Chet Faker, Dayglow, Freddie Gibbs, Tierra Whack, Moses Sumney, Channel Tres, Omar Apollo, Tate McRae, Hinds, Goth Babe, Kennyhoopla, Toosii, Holly Humberstone, and more.
