Rolling Loud New York has been quite the event this year, such as a surprise Kanye West appearance during Playboi Carti’s set, Lil Tjay’s first performance after being shot, and the removal of New York drill rappers from the lineup by NYPD. One of the most anticipated sets of the weekend, however, was headliner and New York native A$AP Rocky. His Saturday set, despite being high-octane and assisted by guests Glorilla and French Montana, was cut short after just 30 minutes.

The abrupt end was due to Rocky’s late arrival and a strict curfew enforced by police authorities, and the “F**kin’ Problems” rapper took to Twitter to release a statement apologizing for the incident.

“I am so hurt right now!” the Harlem rapper wrote. “Last night was supposed to be a turning point in my live shows from the old to new! I will take full responsibility for the circumstances of what led to last night’s show being everything it was and everything it wasn’t.”

“I also want to acknowledge,” he continued, “that even though I prepared the best show for my fans, detail for detail, over the course of MONTHS… I was unfortunately not able to bring my vision to fruition and I’m hurt about that and I want to apologize to all my fans and continued supporters, and thank y’all for showing up for me regardless!! A$AP4EVA.”

Even though he just performed about nine tracks and looks very disappointed in the concert footage, he still delivered a crazy set with energetic highlights and even a crowd dive. In the comments, many fans were sympathetic to Flacko’s situation and showed their support. Others were critical of his irresponsibility, while a few just wanted to know when the next album is dropping. Speaking of which, Rocky’s said that this set will be his last before he drops a new project.

We’ve been previously teased with pictures of Rihanna and A$AP in the studio together, so hopefully this set seems to be ushering in the next stage of his rollout and a big return for the 33-year-old. While it’s disappointing that his show was cut, it’s also heartening to see that Rocky really cares about his artistry and his fans, and will likely continue to work hard to give them something he’s proud of.

Rihanna season is coming.

After gossip began spreading online, speculating that the 34-year-old could be the next performer to grace the stage during the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show, the mother of one quickly confirmed the rumours by posting a photo of her famous tattooed hand holding up a football in front of a white screen.

Now that the news has been officially announced, all those late-night studio sessions Rih has been spotted attending with her beau make a lot more sense. If she’s going to premiere her long-awaited new music, what better place to do it than at the Super Bowl?

Speaking of Rocky, the New York native was just one of the rappers who took to the stage at Rolling Loud in his home state this past weekend, and although his set was cut short (which he’s since apologized for), the father of one made up for it by hosting an incredible afterparty, also attended by his girlfriend.

Paparazzi photos snapped of the pair show the “Umbrella” songstress rocking a grey mini dress worn with thigh-high black boots and an oversized beige and black coat.

Tyler Perry is one of the industry’s most prominent filmmakers. For years, he’s produced dozens of plays, movies and television shows for networks like BET, The Oprah Winfrey Network, and TBS. Between writing scripts and running his 330-acre studio, the entertainer has still had time to cater to others.

During an interview on Sway’s Universe, the 53-year-old recalled when he aided Meghan Markle during her dark times. “What I was reaching out to her for was because they were giving her hell; a lot of it was because she was a black woman,” Perry said, referring to The Royal Family.

Infuriated by the throne’s behavior toward Markle, Perry let her know he was there for her. “I wrote her a letter, not expecting anything to come of it, and she said, ‘Thank you so much.'” Years later, the two talked, and the Duchess of Sussex revealed to Perry what she had been going through.

“I’m just so proud of where they are now,” he continued, “those two people love each other.” The reason he’s sure of it is because he has seen it “up close.”

Perry could have been referring to when he opened the doors of his Beverly Hills home to the Duke and Duchess when they left the United Kingdom in 2020. When explaining to Today why he chose to help, he stated, “It was a very difficult time for them.”

With superhero films dominating the box office, it can be hard for non-Marvel or DC films to get much attention. Olivia Wilde’s newest film, Don’t Worry Darling, has broken through the noise, but its attention has been, shall we say, less than positive. Executives at Paramount had a different idea to get people talking about their newest film, Smile.

Last Friday, Paramount sent out background actors to stand right behind home plate at MLB games wearing bright shirts reading “Smile.” The actors were also told to do their creepiest smile, apparently, because fans were thoroughly freaked out by what they saw on their sports broadcasts.

There were a lot of big games in baseball Friday, including Dodgers vs. Cardinals, Yankees vs. Red Sox, and Mets vs. A’s. At all of these matchups, fans spotted actors standing in the crowd with their frozen smiles. One woman at the Mets game was so distracting that a security guard had to approach her. The background actors seemed very committed to the bit, as most of them never wavered, just staring at the camera smiling.

Smile is set to be released next week, and is a horror movie following a doctor who has a traumatic experience and begins to be haunted by terrifying visages. The film is going up against a new rom-com from Billy Eichner, Bros, as well as a re-released Avatar. It’s stiff competition, so perhaps the folks at Paramount felt they really needed something viral. Seems like they might have found what they were looking for.

After the tragic events of the Astroworld Festival in 2021 and a COVID-driven concern with huge crowds, it’s natural to see audiences and artists more concerned with proper festival safety and security protocols being enforced. It’s something that continues to put concertgoers in peril, as most recently shown at the Portola Festival in San Francisco. Videos have surfaced of hundreds of people gathered around a small entrance to a warehouse stage, where eyewitness accounts claim many in the crowd were being crushed as a result.

In some Twitter clips that have gone around, one can see festival-goers jumping over barricades past overwhelmed security guards. It’s unclear in the videos whether they are escaping from being too pressured around others or if they just want to fool around, but it’s not impossible to see how the former would be the case. Hundreds are gathered in what should be a walkable area for fans to move between stages.

Crowd crushing was the main factor that led to ten deaths and hundreds of injuries at last year’s Astroworld. So far at Portola, which is taking place at Pier 80, there have been no major injuries reported. The festival is produced by Goldenvoice, who also runs another huge California festival, Coachella.

Portola is, for the most part, a dance-centric festival with some of the biggest names in electronic music today. The lineup includes Flume, Kaytranada, James Blake, Charli XCX, Fred again, Caroline Polachek, and many more. It seems that the huge crowds are just lacking proper control and direction at the festival, and hopefully that faulty organization doesn’t result in another tragic event.

For the past few days, social media has been raving about the scandal regarding Ime Udoka. The Boston Celtics Coach was suspended for an entire year after being accused of having an “improper” and “consensual” relationship with a staff member.

Upon finding out the news, which was allegedly shocking to her, Nia Long issued a statement. “The outpouring of love and support from family, friends and the community during this difficult time means so much to me,” she said. “I ask that my privacy be respected as I process the recent events. Above all, I am a mother and will continue to focus on my children.”

Internet users have wasted no time voicing their opinions, most of them scolding Udoka for his infidelity toward the well-known actress. While most fans are on Nia’s side, a few prominent men in the industry have differing opinions than the public. 

Lil Duval, known for his comedic commentary, went to Twitter and wrote, “I got a stack saying nia long ain’t going no where.” His tweet has garnered a lot of traction online– some agreeing and some opposing. 

Another comment on the matter came from fellow comedian Michael Blackson. He shared a post with his 5.6 million Instagram followers that read, “If Halle Berry and Beyoncé can get cheated on what’s wrong with Nia Long getting cheated on? The prettier our ladies are the more we want to bang an average [chick] lol.”

Neither of the comics has apologized or taken down their comments on the sensitive topic, but social media users have scorned them for their remarks.

In the hours since rapper LottaCash Desto was tragically killed in West Houston on Saturday (September 24) morning, police have provided more details surrounding the fatal triple shooting that took her life.

As we previously reported, the recording artist (who has previously worked with the likes of Lil Uzi Vert) was driving around in her silver Porsche SUV early yesterday when gunfire rang out around 2:40 AM resulting in Desto’s death and the injury of two others. Police responded to the incident and found the luxury vehicle on the road with two women inside, both of whom had been shot multiple times.

The driver, Desto, was unfortunately pronounced dead on the scene. It’s been noted that the unidentified passenger with her was transported to the hospital where they received treatment and are expected to recover.

Authorities uncovered a third victim nearby, also suffering from gunshot wounds. After receiving hospital treatment, he too is expected to survive.

“We don’t have any information about motive at this time. It could be road rage. It could have been robbery. We just don’t know, and we don’t have enough information at this time to make a determination,” Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Wyatt Martin told ABC13.

It’s known that at least two guns were used in the triple shooting. Cops are said to be interviewing several witnesses at this time as they work to develop leads in hopes of arresting their two suspects.

Hulu’s The Kardashians has been a smash hit, a fact which is unsurprising to anyone who doesn’t live under a rock. The show follows the ultra-famous family members and their significant others as they make their way through their ultra-famous lives, and thus the series makes headlines again and again.

The most recent big story to come out of the show, however, is an almost infinitesimal detail. On TikTok, a user went viral when she accused The Kardashians producers of adding a CGI tear to Kim’s interview in the first episode of the series’ second season.

The TikTok accuser, Michelle Driscoll, claimed what viewers saw on Kim’s cheek was a “fake tear.” “Y’all please tell me you see this cgi tear on Kardashians,” she wrote in the caption to the clip.

The scene shows Kim crying about Khloé’s relationship with Tristan Thompson. She breaks down as she says that she wants her sister to find true love after the news broke that Thompson had cheated on her yet again. She wipes tears from her eyes during the testimonial.

But Driscoll was not convinced by the waterworks. “She doesn’t touch it! That’s a fake tear!” she exclaims. Her video has since gone viral, with many in the comments agreeing that something is up. “Honestly, who gets a tear in the center of their eye ???” one commenter wrote.

Others, however, were not swayed, and instead saw Driscoll’s video as yet another unnecessary Kardashian attack. “Y’all literally watch everything they do just to find anything to hate over. Obsessed behavior,” someone wrote. Check out the tear below. What do you think?

The 2023 Super Bowl is still months away, but discussions about who this year’s headlining act will be are already running rampant online, with the most recent rumours (coming from TMZ) revealing that Rihanna is reportedly one of the main contenders for the upcoming show.

The news arrived on Sunday (September 25) afternoon from “sources with direct knowledge,” who told the outlet that there have been “multiple discussions” with the mother of one and her team. At this time it remains unknown if she’s fully committed, though it’s been noted that the NFL could be unveiling the big announcement as early as today on Twitter.

Seeing as the Bad Gal is signed to Roc Nation it makes sense for JAY-Z to vouch for her, and though she hasn’t dropped an album since 2016’s Anti, she’s been teasing more music for well over a year now, so this would be an unforgettable comeback for her.

Aside from Rihanna, the NFL has been in talks with another unnamed performer, but it wouldn’t be an either/or situation between the two of them, meaning we’d see “at least two performers on stage” in February.

This isn’t the first time that the “Breakin’ Dishes” hitmaker was offered the coveted job. In 2020 she turned down the Halftime Show due to her disdain for how the football organization treated Colin Kaepernick.

Taylor Swift was previously asked to take on the performance spot, though she turned it down – not out of disinterest, but because she wants to have all six of her earlier albums rerecorded before.

Over the years, Grimes has repeatedly discussed making stuff of science fiction a reality. During her relationship with Elon Musk, she and the billionaire experimented with countless futuristic ideas, some better than others.

One scifi aesthetic that Grimes continues to return to is out-of-this-world body modification. In the past, she showed off an elaborate back tattoo made with white ink. She also floated the idea of getting elf ears. Now, she’s testing out a new idea on social media: a face tattoo.

“I am very seriously considering getting a white ink tattoo on my face next week,” Grimes wrote in an Instagram post. “Any thoughts? It feels like it’s time.” She accompanied the question with a photo of her face adorned with colorful makeup. In the comments, fans also noted the apparent swelling of her lips and cheeks in the picture.

Last week, the art-pop musician had shared a photo of her face covered in bandages, which sparked rumors that she had gotten some sort of body mod. It’s all part of a longer mission which she outlined in January.

In an IG story, Grimes said that she was in the midst of a “long slow effort to have a full alien body… totally covered in white ink.” In that same post, she showed off her latest tattoo, which was on her chest and done by tattoo artist Tweakt and designer Nusi Quero.

“[It’s] a courageous and beautiful decision and talisman she will carry with her from here forward, an armor, a spectral field that will affect and protect her in ways unknown but no doubt with a benevolence of some kind,” said Quero of the body art.
