Megan Thee Stallion has been bridging the gap between hot girls and weebs since her 2018 breakout and anime streamer Crunchyroll took notice, embracing the Houston rapper’s support by making her a presenter at this year’s Anime Awards in Japan. While on the red carpet ahead of the show, Meg participated in a quick red-carpet interview for TikTok, showing of her otaku (Japanese for “fan”) cred by sharing her go-to comfort shows, defending her favorite anime genre, and name-checking which show’s characters she’d recruit as backup dancers.

Apparently, Thee Stallion is a big fan of the action genre, saying, “As soon as the anime come on, I wanna the city getting tore up. The city need to be destroyed on the first go. I need to understand why you’re mad, what is the character development story, what are we going through — take me on that ride with you.” For back up dancers, she says the fabolous fits of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure crew would make them shoo-ins for for the role, while her comfort shows include ’90s classics Inuyasha and YuYu Hakusho, which she says she’ll even fall asleep watching (how she can do that with all the yelling and explosions is beyond me).

Meg’s put her love for action anime on display a number of times throughout her career, doing elaborate photoshoots in cosplay and even performing as Sailor Moon in Japan a few years ago. She’s had a first-look deal in place with Netflix since 2021 — wouldn’t it be fun to see Meg get her own anime one day?

Megan Thee Stallion Reveals Her Current Favorite Anime

Megan The Stallion has declared Jujutsu Kaisen to be her current favorite anime. Jujutsu Kaisen is the hottest anime right now. It’s the best! Well, let me not talk a bunch of sh-t on my other ones because I love them as well, but Jujutsu Kaisen is my favorite right now. Period. Real hot girl sh-t,” Megan told Teen Vogue. Earlier in the week, she showed out at the Anime Awards in Tokyo with an outfit inspired by Jujutsu character Gojo.

Furthermore, Megan presented the awards while dressed in an outfit inspired by Bruno Bucciarati from Jojo Bizarre Adventure‘s fifth series, Golden Wind. Megan’s attention to detail in the outfit was unrivaled, truly showing her love of the medium. Additionally, Megan spilled on her love of anime. She named several characters from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure as her anime backup dancers. One person she named was the aforementioned Bucciarati, because “he’s my boy, he’s got them moves already!” Meanwhile, she named YuYu Hakusho as her “comfort anime” and one she “always falls asleep to”. Additionally, Megan named “action” as her favorite genre, stating that “when sh-t goes down, I wanna see that city tore up!” Do you agree with Megan’s choices? Let us know in the comments.

Megan Thee Stallion Stuns In Motivational-Themed Nike Ad

Elsewhere, Megan flaunted her curves, and positive mentality, in a new ad for Nike. “Hotties, when you use Thee Hottie State of Mind, it doesn’t matter what they see for you because you see it for yourself. So, keep that same energy and attitude no matter what life throws your way. At the end of the day, do what feels best for YOU,” Megan wrote on Instagram to promote the collab.

Furthermore, Megan has been finding her niche with her power of positive thinking. A previous video about the Hotties State of Mind had some fans online calling her the Bottitheesiva, a play on a figure in Buddhist mythology. Fans in the comments were already saying that Megan was low-key motivating them. Are you feeling motivated by the Hotties State of Mind? Let us know in the comments below.

Megan Thee Stallion Will Live Her Weeb Dreams As A Presenter At The 2024 Anime Awards In Japan

Megan Thee Stallion loves anime. This is a well-known fact. Her cosplay photos were what helped put her on rap fans’ radars back in 2019, her biggest hit, “Savage,” had an anime-themed music video, she’s participated in marketing campaigns in costume, and she’s even performed as Japanese icon Sailor Moon in Japan.

The thing is, anime loves her back. In addition to getting shout-outs from the people who make, translate, and perform in anime over the years, she’s recently been granted the honor of presenting at this year’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards. (As a second-gen weeb, I am astronished that I did not know such a thing has existed for the past seven years, and kind of proud that it does.)

Meg was announced as a presenter along with Japanese pop star LiSA (not to be confused with the K-pop star of the same name), Ms. Marvel herself, Iman Vellani, drag entertainer Aquaria, and popular TikTok star Lena Lemon, among others. The show will be held on March 2 at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo. In the press release, Megan gushed, “Watching anime is one of my favorite things to do! I love cosplaying all of my favorite characters, I love the storytelling, and I love getting inspiration from the different anime art styles! I’m really excited for the opportunity to attend and present an award at this year’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards. I’m looking forward to traveling to Tokyo and joining my fellow anime lovers as we celebrate and honor the best anime creators and shows in the world.”
