This is sad news for fans of The CW series All American: Homecoming. News outlets have reported that the show has been canceled.
Its upcoming third season is set to be its last. This unfortunate update on the beloved series comes just two weeks after reports suggested the show would unlikely return for a fourth season. Bummer.
So, executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll expressed her accepted disappointment at the turn of events with her show:
“I’m devastated to learn that All American: Homecoming will not be moving forward with more episodes and that this new season premiering in July will be our final one. However, I am so very grateful to have worked with this incredible cast and crew, led by Geffri Maya, to bring the authentic HBCU experience to your screens for the last three seasons.”
She added: “We made this show for the culture and thank our loyal audience and fans for taking this ride with us. We made this show so that our community, our kids and their dreams could be seen and celebrated every week and we are proud to say we accomplished that mission, especially with this exciting final season which we can’t wait to show you all. So with a heavy but proud heart, I give one final shoutout to our favorite Bringston Lions!”
Shadow and Act were the first to grab the “exclusive key art” ahead of The CW’s hit show All American, returning for an explosive sixth season. The show premieres on April 1, bringing back Daniel Ezra, Michael Evans Behling, Samantha Logan, Greta Onieogu, Bre-Z, Chelsea Tavares, Monét Mazur, Cody Christian and Karimah Westbrook.
According to The CW here is the official description for season 6:
Season 6 finds Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and his friends in momentous new chapters of their lives. Now juniors at GAU, Spencer and Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) are officially eligible to enter the NFL draft, placing Spencer, especially, at the center of the media spotlight. Egos soon clash when a new addition joins the GAU coaching staff and shifts the team dynamics. Meanwhile, Olivia (Samantha Logan) returns to L.A. changed by her time in London and invigorated by a new project to honor her father’s legacy. After being apart, Spencer and Olivia try to reconnect as new versions of themselves. Layla (Greta Onieogou) also explores a new version of herself as she adds “club owner” to her impressive list of titles. While still happily engaged to Jordan, she faces growing pressures that test their relationship and her mental health. Coop (Bre-Z) flexes her legal muscles while faithfully supporting Patience (Chelsea Tavares) through her healing journey, as Patience prepares for a looming legal battle against the superfan that attacked her last season. Asher (Cody Christian) navigates life as a new parent while Laura (Monét Mazur) settles into the next stage of her personal and professional life. And through it all, Grace (Karimah Westbrook) remains a constant anchor for Spencer, and everyone else, when they need her the most, while dealing with her sons growing up too fast. Together, the entire group discovers that, even in their toughest moments, the best path forward is to seize today and lean on each other.
Here’s that key art we were hollering about. What do you think?
As reported by Shadow and Act, the new trailer for season 6 of All American is upping the ante on the drama amongst the cast of couples, relationships, and everyone in between.
Outside of the crazy situationship drama there is plenty of football drama to take in also, I mean it is called All American for a reason. The characters are still dealing with the heavy toll of the stalker stabbing incident that happened in the season 5 finale.
All American stars Daniel Ezra, Smanatha Logan, Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogu, Bre-Z, Cody Christian, Karimah Westbrook, Chelsea Tavares, Jayln Hall, Hunter Clowdus, Monet Mazur and Kareem J. Grimes. Moving to season regular status is Martin Bobb-Semple.
The CW series was created and executive-produced by Nkechi Okoro Carroll. She also serves as co-showrunner Marqui Jackson, an executive producer. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robbie Rogers, and Lindsay Dunn also round out the executive producers on the series.
