Killer Mike Gives Passionate Speech To Accept Album Of The Year During BET Awards

Killer Mike gave a fiery speech to accept the award for Album of the Year at the BET Awards on Sunday night. In doing so, he reflected on his arrest at the latest Grammy Awards, which were also held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Donald Glover presented him with the honor and welcomed him to the stage.

“Technically, I was not supposed to be here,” Mike said after grabbing the award. “I was put in handcuffs, and I was marched out of this building. But I wanna tell you, look at God because I’m back, baby, I’m back. I wanna tell Black people that it’s because of BET I’m back, not ’cause of no white person. … A Black man runs this business, a Black company puts this show on, and they got my Black ass back in here. Thank you.”

SZA Reveals How Her Songwriters Hall Of Fame Award “Validates My Entire Career”

SZA says that receiving the Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall Of Fame Award has “validated” her entire career through this point. She discussed her reaction to the honor as well as what it means to her on stage at the 2024 Induction and Awards Gala, earlier this week.

“As an artist, I’ve been a lot of different people. I’ve been 200 pounds; I’ve been 130 pounds. I’ve been someone who doesn’t dance at all on stage… to someone who is dancing and trying their best and I think, ‘Oh man, I struggle with the artist thing,’ but writing was where I felt like a person, and I had value and showed that I was smart. It was beyond ‘Am I pretty? Am I Liked?’ and that meant everything to me. It made me feel like a person that was doing something worth something. Basically, receiving this award validates my entire career… Thank you for seeing me,” she said.

She so deserves to be the 2024 recipient of the Hal David Starlight Award!”

Ice Spice Wins At The 2024 People’s Choice Awards With New Artist Of The Year

The people have spoken at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, and Ice Spice is their New Artist of the Year. During her acceptance speech at the ceremony on Sunday (February 18) in California, she thanked her fans for their ardent support. “Thank you, I wasn’t nervous until right now, but,” the 24-year-old said with a laugh. “Thank you so much! “Shoutout to all the brands I’ve collab’d with in the last year or so,” Ice Spice continued. “And shoutout to all the other nominees in this category. You guys are amazing and talented. However, that’s not what Ice Spice is making a lot of noise for at the moment, and what might define the rest of her 2024. She’s currently embroiled in a cold war beef with Latto, for which the only thing left to do for either artist is to call them out directly. Sure, they’ve already alluded to each other multiple times and given out subliminal disses, plus their fanbases are going at it heavily on social media. But maybe an old-fashioned rap battle and hit-for-hit is what they need to gain each other’s respect as competitors.

Meanwhile, the “Think U The S**t (Fart)” MC recently met up with Spike Lee, and fans think that they could have something planned for the future. A music video, a movie, a TV ad, something beyond what either’s typically known for… who knows? All we know is that it’s exciting to witness. I never won awards in the ’90s,” Nas began, “thank you Billboard, before I get into all of that.” The rapper continued, “This is cool. 49 years old, I’m about to turn 50 along with hip hop, man. And I’m starting to see awards, too. I didn’t get into it for awards, we got into it because we love the art form.
