50 Cent & John Legend’s Creative “21 Questions” Performance Raises Eyebrows

John Legend is known to always come through with killer vocals, but recently, some critics think he missed the mark. The Ohio-born artist teamed up with 50 Cent to sing his Get Rich or Die Tryin’ hit “21 Questions” onstage this week. Unfortunately, social media users have a lot to say about his performance. In a new clip, Fif is seen hyping up the crowd as Legend goes in on the chorus, originally performed by Nate Dogg.

Legend seems to have taken a bit of creative liberty in his rendition of the 2003 banger, adding a notable amount of vibrato that’s got commenters rolling. “Okay Gospel version,” one commenter quips. “I sing it just like this while drunk,” another jokes.

John Legend & 50 Cent Perform “21 Questions”

Clearly, Legend was feeling the music, and others actually claim to prefer his version over the original. “Get it John!” one supportive commenter writes. Another announces that they plan to “sing it just like this from now on.” Countless users are coming to the hitmaker’s defense amid the barrage of jokes, noting how he’s known to go big. “Stop hating on my boy,” one fan insists. “Y’all so use to these non singing a** ppl y’all forget real singers gon sing any song no mater the genre full out !”

While most viewers are honed in on Legend’s singing, others are pointing out 50 Cent’s reaction to it, claiming that he looked as if he was about to burst out laughing. “50 gon clown him later,” one fan notes alongside a series of laughing emojis. “50 was trying to reel him into the right tune,” another says. Social Media Users Answer 50 Cent’s “21 Questions”

Fans have been revisiting some of the lyrics to 50 Cent’s 2003 Get Rich or Die Tryin’ track alongside Nate Dogg, “21 Questions.” Social media users are calling out the lyrics as major red flags, claiming they would have been out of there long before the song’s third verse. “21 Questions” was a massive success upon it’s release, peaking at #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in May 2003. It seems, however, that times have changed.

“‘Are you mad cuz I’m asking you 21 questions?’ Let’s start there. Cuz yes. Tf,” one social media commenter jokes. “’If I was with some other chick and someone happened to see and when you asked me about it I said it wasn’t me…’ don’t even gotta finish the question,” another claims. Users continued to go to town with their answers to the questions, revealing that most of them would be “no.”

Fans Revisit 50 Cent’s “21 Questions”

It seems as though Vivica A. Fox may be interested in answering a couple of 50 Cent’s questions. During a recent appearance on Sherri Shepherd’s talk show, she revealed that she would consider getting back with her ex. “Well, [Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez] did it again. Why not?” she explained. Although 50 Cent is in a happy relationship with Cuban Link currently, she continued to hint at rekindling their romance. “[50 Cent] has a beautiful girlfriend by the name of Cuban Link… Recently, he gave her something, but I don’t know if it was an engagement ring. But it was a beautiful ring,” she described.

Today, it was revealed that 50 Cent’s co-producer of the show BMF was suspended by Lionsgate for allegedly threatening striking writers on Thursday. Though 50 Cent hasn’t commented publicly on the matter, he seemed to share a similar opinion on the WGA strike during an interview earlier this week. “I hope [the strike] doesn’t last,” he shared, “I don’t see it as a positive thing for the writers that I know that have established overall deals.” He continued, “The last time, it lasted for about a hundred days, a little over three months. If it extends to that point now, I don’t know.”

Dr. Dre Wanted 50 Cent To Leave “21 Questions” Off Of “Get Rich Or Die Tryin”

50 Cent pushed to have “21 Questions” included on his debut album, despite Dr. Dre’s hesitancy.

During a recent visit to Big Boy’s Neighborhood, 50 Cent revealed how Dr. Dre pushed back against the release of one of his biggest hits. Fif explained that Dre wasn’t totally convinced about releasing “21 Questions” ft. Nate Dogg, largely because it didn’t fit the mold of Get Rich or Die Tryin.

“He said, ‘I don’t know why you want it?’ Why I wanted the record,” he explained. “I’m like, ‘Damn, man, I gotta do all these muthafuckin’ push-ups,’” Fif added. “I want the girls to like me.”

50 Cent explained that he felt as though Dr. Dre wanted him to follow a similar blueprint to N.W.A., who didn’t rely on catering to certain demographics to expand their reach.

“Like they didn’t have to reach to make a commercial record or anything that sounded like a commercial record,” 50 Cent continued. “And that’s just in his DNA. Like on his path, he’s like, ‘We don’t need that.’”

Despite the pushback, the BMF exec. pushed for the record and the results speak for themselves. “21 Questions,” produced by Dirty Swifty, became a massive hit once it dropped. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100, marking yet another #1 single in his career.
