Latto Had To Help Usher Sing At Birthday Bash Due To Technical Difficulties

Latto recently brought out a whole slew of special guests for her historic headline performance at Atlanta’s HOT 107.9 Birthday Bash concert, the first by a female in the station’s bash’s history. However, things didn’t always go perfect, as Usher faced some technical mic issues while trying to perform his track “Superstar.” She stepped in with her own vocals and helped him sing it and move onto another cut, and he paid tribute to her with a tender speech. “You know, we have this thing that we do in Atlanta, where we just seem to keep making history. Tonight, Latto made history, being the first female to [headline] Birthday Bash. We wanna give her her flowers one time.”

Furthermore, Latto and Usher have developed a pretty close bond in recent years, bolstered by collaborations like her appearance on his new album COMING HOME. It’s great to see older and newer generations come together and support each other, even when their genre focuses might not always line up perfectly. Artists don’t always maintain this as a priority these days, but it’s resulted in some killer crossovers and opportunities over the years. We can’t help but wonder who will be the next multi-generational duo to cause a splash and try to create a big moment.

Meanwhile, we know for sure that the tension between older and newer artists doesn’t usually compare to that between two rising stars, as we’re literally seeing right now. For example, a lot of folks think that Ice Spice and Latto are locked in a not-so-cold war, trading some pretty direct shots and easily spottable subliminals. Whether or not this is the case, the perceived feud is certainly pushing their promo machines pretty heavily. Maybe it’s not that deep, but it’s working out in their favor either way.

Still, maybe it would be best if the industry didn’t push a beef between two femcees for little reason other than they can. Nevertheless, there is too much giving credence to this idea for us to make a proper judgement. We’ll see whether there’s actually tension here if if they are as debunked as Sexyy Red beef rumors. Either way, Latto will likely continue to find massive success.

Latto Teases Album Title & Brings Out 21 Savage, Usher, & More Guests At Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash

Latto recently made Atlanta’s HOT 107.9 radio station history by becoming the first female artist to headline their Birthday Bash festival in the city. Moreover, she treated fans to a pretty energetic, star-studded, and monumental show that teased the title of her upcoming new album as Sugar Honey Iced Tea. The ATL femcee brought out her rumored boo 21 Savage, Usher, Summer Walker, Anycia, and Rasheeda as special guests for the performance as well, making sure that folks had new things to look forward to every few songs. It all seemed like a lot of fun, and like she’s almost ready to take things to the next level with her soon-to-come LP.

Furthermore, this Birthday Bash performance also prompted some interesting theories and possible updates on the whole Ice Spice beef. For those unaware, Latto seemed to directly diss Spice by referencing her “Think U The S**t (Fart)” song in a tweet, following months of tension and back-and-forths. In addition, this HOT 107.9 performance’s tease of a potential new album title with Sugar Honey Iced Tea also adds to this theory and saga. After all, spell out the acronym behind that possible album title, and you’ve got a whole lot of shade over the Bronx femcee’s earlier 2024 single.

Meanwhile, Latto is also making headlines thanks to Azealia Banksviral thoughts on her. “She is really missing out on so much iconicness by not being ‘mulatto,’” Banks suggested on Twitter. “2nd off, for all that social backlash and for people to be dumb enough not to realize her name is still Mulatto but abbreviated should prove that they stupid internet anger addicts. Who are not as socially insightful as they think they are and made all that ruckus just to get hoodwinked. PLUS IS HER CALLING HERSELF MULATTO AT ALL EVEN SLIGHTLY AS DENIGRATING And DETRIMENTAL AS BLACK ARTISTS CALLING THEMSELVES AND THEIR PEERS N*****S ALL DAY?????????????????”

21 Savage & J Cole Link Up Backstage At Birthday Bash

It was a big weekend in Atlanta. 107.9 Birthday Bash took place with massive performances from Finesse2Tymes, NLE Choppa, and more. However, it was the hometown hero, 21 Savage, who headline the event. Of course, it wouldn’t be right if his homecoming show didn’t bring out some special guests. Considering 21’s pull these days, he certainly had to go out big. The Atlanta star brought J Cole out on stage during his set where they performed their hit record, “a lot.”

Shortly after the performance, 21 Savage hit Instagram with some behind-the-scenes shots of himself and Cole hanging out. “Birthday bash hasn’t felt like that in a while,” 21 captioned the post. “Thank you to everybody who came out for me.” Although 21’s birthday is actually in October, Gillie Da King slid through with his well wishes, writing, “Hbd bro.” However, it didn’t take long for fans to quickly correct him, explaining that he’s months early.
