Snitching has been a hot topic in Hip Hop since its inception, but Young Thug’s case has shone a new light on the subject. Thugger and seven of his co-defendants are currently on trial, and it’s slated to be lengthy. Currently, officials are still combing through potential jurors, and it’s a process speculated to take months. Initially, over two dozen people were arrested in connection to the YSL RICO case. Gunna was the first to strike a plea deal, and soon, seven others followed.
Gunna has laid low as he’s faced critics who say he’s snitched on Thug. However, the “Pushin P” rapper denied the allegations, explaining that he took an Alford Plea in his best interest and has no plans on cooperating with the authorities. Hip Hop has weighed in, with some doing so silently. Several artists have unfollowed Gunna and denounced snitching. Others, like Bobby Shmurda, haven’t referenced Gunna at all, but the New York rapper did share a freestyle where he called out the industry’s rats.

Today (February 10), Shmudra dropped off a freestyle on Instagram, and while he didn’t mention Thugger in his bars, he did include him in the caption. It seems that Thug tried reaching out, but Shmurda wasn’t available. “I missed my n*gga @thuggerthugger1 call yesterday ,” Shmurda wrote. “So @4shootersonly f*ck it we dropping this today !!!! Straight from the Supreme Court screaming #freeslime 4eva .” The performance was on the steps of the Supreme Court, and the rapper was making his voice heard.
“Man, f*ck all y’all Rap n*ggas / Most of y’all some rat n*ggas / All y’all chit chat n*ggas, oh yeah,” Shmurda spits. This isn’t the first time he shared a track targeting snitches. In early January, he did the same, and even then, people quickly believed he was speaking about the Atlanta icon. However, it must be noted that Shmurda hasn’t named Gunna, but he has continued to advocate for Young Thug’s release.

Shmurda was released from prison this time last year after serving six years. His willingness to do his time and not turn on his friends has been praised in Hip Hop.
