March just so happens to be Women’s History Month and just a couple of days ago, it was Internation Women’s Day. Nike has plenty of women athletes signed to their roster and over the years, the brand has always done its best to pay homage to those who help excel women’s sports. Of course, the brand also comes through with some shoes that act as a celebration of women and all of their achievements. In 2021, one of those sneakers is the Air Jordan 9 “Change The World.”

This women’s exclusive colorway has been teased for quite some time now and finally, Jordan Brand came through with the official images. Jose Canseco Basks In Alex Rodriguez-Jennifer Lopez Breakup

News broke earlier today that Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez have officially called it quits and will no longer be getting married. The two were seemingly a power couple but after rumors surfaced that Rodriguez cheated, it was evident that things were destined to fail. Now, the two are no longer an item, and fans are finding it quite hard to believe.

One person who doesn’t find this shocking, however, is none other than Jose Canseco. Canseco hates Rodriguez and on numerous occasions, he has accused A-Rod of being unfaithful. When the news broke, Canseco immediately took to Twitter and fired off some tweets about the situation.

“Well J lo and a rod broke up well I wonder who told you so the truth hurts,” he wrote. “Next girl you see a rod with will be a 25 to 30-year-old hot fitness model the truth hurts.”

Canseco then went on to pull off the ultimate disrespectful move as he tried to shoot his shot with J-Lo. “Hey Jennifer Lopez by the way I am single And I can be faithful,” he quipped.

Canseco’s hatred for A-Rod knows no boundaries and as the breakup develops, we’re sure he’ll have a lot more derogatory things to say.

Fans Suspect Mulatto Is Shading Renni Rucci On Her “Beat Box” Freestyle

Whether it’s a coincidence or the universe simply messing with the new generation of Hip-Hop artists, it appears that everyone who touches the “Beat Box” beat gets thrown into drama. Last month, SpotEmGottem, the original artist behind the viral TikTok sensation, was accused of being a snitch, and more recently, DaBaby fielded controversy with his freestyle once his infamous Jojo Siwa line provoked the ire of his fans. Today, Mulatto stepped up to the plate to give her swing at the “Beat Box” instrumental, and hours later, fans have already come for the Queen of The Souf rapper.

In her “Beat Box” freestyle, Mulatto goes off for nearly a minute straight, referencing her breakout hit “B*tch From The Souf,” her impeccable feature run, and her newfound success. Once the freestyle concludes, Mulatto does her thing and taunts her competitors, saying, “On God, this sh*t just too mother f*cking easy!”

“I’m the biggest,” Mulatto proclaims before closing out the song, saying, “and ain’t nothing big about y’all h*es! So if the b*tch name ain’t Latto, don’t put ‘Big’ in front of it. Straight up.”

While many fans have enjoyed the rising artist’s latest freestyle and chalked her-post rap commentary as mere bravado, other fans are claiming that Mulatto was shading fellow female artist Renni Rucci.

One fan posted their theory on the situation, and it made its way to Renni Rucci, who simply commented, “y’all gone have to wait for @mulatto to answer that.” Not quick to jump into a beef without any direct shots thrown her way, the “Can’t Be” rapper continued her comment saying, “if it ain’t directed it ain’t respected. lil mama popping it tho.”

Listen to Mulatto‘s “Beat Box Freestyle” below and let us know if you think she was coming for Renni Rucci’s head or simply bigging herself up.

High School Basketball Announcer Uses N-Word After Players Kneel

Racism is alive and well in America and there is no better example of this than what happened during a recent high school girl’s basketball game in Oklahoma. Norman High School was taking on Midwest City during a basketball tournament in the state. Norman High School elected to kneel during the National Anthem, and that’s when one announcer from the National Federation of State High School Association Network’s broadcast team decided to go on a racist tirade that was quite shocking.

“They’re kneeling? F***ing n*****s. I hope Norman gets their ass kicked. F*** them. I  hope they lose. They’re gonna kneel like that?” the unnamed announcer said.

The clip rightfully led to outrage on social media and now, the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association is looking into who was responsible and they are making sure to fire the broadcast team for the rest of the tournament. At this point, this is the least they can do considering the disgusting words that were uttered at the beginning of the match.

Since that time, the Norman superintendent has issued a statement saying “We condemn and will not tolerate the disgusting words and attitudes of these announcers. This type of hate speech has no place in our society and we are outraged that it would be directed at any human being, and particularly at our students.”

This story just goes to show that there is still a lot of ignorance out there, and we hope it doesn’t deter this team from going out and continuing their peaceful protests.

Jennifer Lopez And Alex Rodriguez Have Reportedly Canceled Their Wedding And Broken Up

Popstar and actress Jennifer Lopez has reportedly broken up with Major League Baseball player Alex Rodriguez, according to Page Six. The gossip site’s sources say that the former couple has canceled their wedding as Rodriguez prepares for spring training and Lopez shoots her next movie — ironically titled Shotgun Wedding. The former couple previously postponed the wedding twice, apparently got things back on track, but ultimately decided that a split was for the best. They originally announced their engagement in 2019, after dating for two years.

J-Lo told Access Hollywood about the postponements in December, telling the show, “We had to cancel the wedding because of COVID, because of the quarantine. And we actually did it twice, which people don’t know.”

At the time, she said the goal was to “wait it out,” insisting “everything’s cool and it’ll happen when the time is right. I feel like it’s not a huge priority to go and have a big wedding right now, that’s not what life is about.” Page Six posits that the breaking point was a rumor of infidelity between Rodriguez and reality-show star Madison LeCroy. LeCroy appears on Bravo’s Southern Charm.

Lopez, meanwhile, has been shooting Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic. The film has undergone some controversy of its own after previous lead Armie Hammer was replaced in the wake of a scandal involving some untoward text messages.

Beyonce Turned Down An Offer To Perform At The 2021 Grammys

After initially being postponed, the 63rd Annual Grammys Award Ceremony kicks off this weekend. Leading the nominations is Beyonce, who is up for nine Grammys including both Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year. The additional nominations makes her the most Grammy-nominated female artist in history with an impressive 79 nominations. But despite her recognition, Beyonce will not be seen performing at this year’s event.

This weekend’s ceremony will be taking place in person across five small stages situated around LA in order to minimize interactions. Several artists have been booked to perform at the ceremony, including Cardi B, Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, Taylor Swift, and Dua Lipa. One major star not on the list, though, is Beyonce.

The Recording Academy claims that they extended an offer to Beyonce to perform, but she declined. In a statement to the LA Times, Recording Academy interim chief executive Harvey Mason said, “It’s unfortunate because she’s such a big part of the Recording Academy. We absolutely wish we had her onstage.”

Neither Beyonce nor the Recording Academy has addressed her reason for turning down the event. It may have to do with the concern over attending an in-person event, but it could also be due to the backlash the Recording Academy has faced this past year. Back in January of 2020, former Grammys CEO Deborah Dugan alleged that the Recording Academy has a history of sexual misconduct and corruption, and she wasn’t the only one to say so. After being snubbed of an award this year, The Weeknd slammed the ceremony as corrupt and called for greater transparency in the nomination process. Other artists like Ellie Goulding, Zayn, Fiona Apple, and Lil Wayne have made similar, disdainful remarks about the Grammys.

Some of the artists mentioned here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

George Floyd Civil Lawsuit Settled For $27 Million

George Floyd’s family will receive $27 million dollars from the city of Minneapolis as a result of the settlement from the wrongful death civil rights lawsuit. This is also the largest pre-trial settlement issued for a wrongful death civil rights lawsuit in U.S. history.

The federal lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota on July 15, 2020, by Kaarin Nelson Shaffer, the named trustee for the family. The claim filed included a complaint against the city, listing them as the responsible party for the Minneapolis Police Department because they are the city’s primary use for law enforcement.

George Floyd died at the hands of police officers on May 25, 2020, at the 3700 block of South Chicago Avenue South in Minneapolis, and the settlement also includes $500,000 to enhance the business district on that same block.

Attorney L. Chris Stewart said the family still awaits justice in criminal courts, however the settlement “provides a path forward for our clients and ensures that George Floyd’s death will result in substantive, positive change.”

George Floyd’s brother, Rodney, stated, “Our family is grateful for all those who care so deeply about George’s life and our loss, and this agreement is a necessary step for all of us to begin to get some closure. George’s legacy for those who loved him will always be his spirit of optimism that things can get better, and we hope this agreement does just that – that it makes things a little better in Minneapolis and holds up a light for communities around the country.”

As we reported recently, the trial judge in the lawsuit reinstated Derek Chauvin’s third-degree murder charge. Opening arguments from selected jurors are not expected to be released until March 29, and the case is predicted to last throughout the month of April.
