Mac Miller “Swimming” Becomes His First Platinum Album

Mac Miller is about as universally beloved an artist as there is, and countless fans still mourn the late rapper to this day. Sadly, Mac’s untimely death at the age of twenty-six left his discography cut tragically short, with six studio albums and several more mixtapes — including the fan-favorite Faces, set to hit streaming platforms in the near future.

And while many hold his catalog in high esteem, the admiration never quite translated into numbers; that’s not to say Mac doesn’t hold his share of gold and platinum plaques, but his first platinum album only occurred a few days ago. As it happens, Mac’s Swimming marked his first body of work to hit the milestone, unsurprising given its added significance of being the final album he released while alive. It also marked a major stylistic transformation for the young visionary, who expanded on the foundation laid by The Divine Feminine and explored a more reflective and melodic approach to songwriting.

Boasting songs like the introspective single “Self Care” and the minimalistic stunner “Dunno,” Swimming truly does have something for everybody; read our official review of Mac Miller’s Swimming right here. One has to wonder if some of Mac’s more hip-hop-focused projects will follow suit in achieving platinum status, as Watching Movies With The Sound Off and Good AM both currently hold gold certifications. Be sure to revisit Swimming now, and show some love to the late Mac Miller in the comments below.

Kanye West Spent $12 Million Of His Own Money On Presidential Campaign: Report

Kanye West, who once admitted to being $53 million in personal debt, spent about $12.5 million of his own money on his late presidential campaign, which took place under his independent Birthday Party. The campaign’s financial records reportedly prove that $13.2 million was spent trying to secure votes for Kanye’s run, with the majority of which coming from the artist’s own pockets.

The report is being made using Kanye’s final Federal Election Commission filing, and it shows that West spent about $200 for every vote that he received. Nationally, the artist secured 66,000 votes.

His campaign only ran for about four months, shutting down and profiting about $1.3 million. Much of the money spent went toward ballot access, which didn’t end up making much of a difference as he was absent on the ballot in most states

“It wasn’t your traditional campaign,” said a political source who helped West in the summer. “He isn’t versed enough politically. He figured that by doing it on his own, he could control his own media. But he has so much other stuff going on in his life that has nothing to do with politics that the distractions are there.”

Kanye has been in the news recently after his wife Kim Kardashian West filed for divorce. There has been a lot of chatter surrounding their future, trending over the last few weeks.

Do you think Kanye will have better luck if he runs again in 2024?

Billie Eilish Reveals Secret Boyfriend In New Apple TV Documentary

Billie Eilish’s new documentary, The World’s A Little Blurry, premiered today on Apple TV+. The documentary details the life of the “Bad Guy” singer from when she first started making music to her ultimate explosion as an artist. In the film, Eilish also talks about heavy topics like her struggle with her mental health, telling viewers that she used to cut herself when she was 14 or 15, wanting to “make herself bleed,” because “I thought I deserved it.”

Eilish also reveals a secret relationship she had in the documentary, one that neither party ever confirmed until now. Rapper Brandon Quention Adams, also known as 7:AMP, started dating Eilish when she was 16 and he was 22. The documentary shows footage of Eilish raving about him, calling him “so fine.”

Allegedly, the two had a lot of ups and downs in their relationship, with Eilish being frustrated over his destructive behaviors, including drunk driving. “I don’t want you to do that,” Eilish tells him. “I feel like you don’t take me seriously when I say that. I just want you safe.”

The two hit a breaking point in April of 2019 following Billie Eilish’s first Coachella performance, which boyfriend “Q” came to support her for. Eilish got frustrated when her boyfriend did not make time to meet up with her after her performance, and she later tells her parents about more of his “self-destructive” behavior, which includes him punching a wall and breaking his hand.

Later in the film, Eilish confirms that the two broke up, saying, “I just wasn’t happy, and I didn’t want the same things he wanted, and I don’t think that’s fair for him. I don’t think you should be in a relationship super excited about certain things that the other person couldn’t care less about. I don’t think that’s fair to you. I didn’t think that was fair to him. And there was just a lack of effort, I think. I literally was just like, ‘Dude, you don’t even have enough love to love yourself. You can’t love me, dude. And you don’t. You think you do.’”

Kandi Burruss Speaks On Her & Kenya Moore’s #StripperGate Disagreement

Last week’s episode of TheReal Housewives of Atlanta got a little crazy when the housewives got a stripper named Bolo, and he ended up staying the night at the house after the housewives asked the camera crew to shut off the cameras and leave. Things definitely got raunchy, and Kenya Moore accused Porsha Williams and Tanya Sam of getting more involved with the stripper than the other housewives.

“A few of the ladies wanted a real private show,” Kenya said in the after-show segment. “I’m not sure why the cameras needed to be turned off,” Kenya adds, saying that she didn’t do anything that night that she wouldn’t have wanted other people to see. Cynthia also mentioned that while she was there entirely in the spirit of having fun, she did help Kandi put black tape over the security cameras.

Kandi made a point to add that “What happens in the dungeon, stays in the dungeon,” emphasizing that she thought the women had a place they could go that night where they would not be judged. “I wasn’t expecting some of the stuff that happened after the camera crew left to be a part of the conversation.”

The morning after, when Bolo left, Kenya Moore interrogated some of the housewives about whether or not they slept with the stripper. Kandi Burruss felt that this approach was inappropriate, and many agreed with her and expressed their criticisms for Kenya. In the aftermath of #StripperGate, Kandi sat down and talked with longtime friend and assistant Don Juan to discuss the events of the episode.

“I think it’s unfair actually because I see some people who you know, say stuff like — anytime we say anything like — I’ll just use the whole Kenya situation as an example,” Kandi Burruss told Don Juan. “If I say anything that’s disagreeing with Kenya, people be like, ‘Oh, you’re not a real friend to her and blah blah blah.’ At the end of the day, she and I are real friends. I love her very much. But obviously last week I disagreed.”

Lil Uzi Vert & JT Continue Their Strange Love Story

For months, people have been confused about the nature of Lil Uzi Vert and JT’s relationship. Are the two rappers dating? Or are they just trolling us into believing they are? They’ve had some strange moments on the internet, insulting each other before seemingly making up on multiple occasions. On Thursday, Uzi sent off a tweet about how he allegedly bought the rapper’s first-ever Birkin bag, which she later denied wasn’t shade, despite her fans thinking it was. That prompted a heated exchange between JT and her fans on Twitter before she closed out the night with another back-and-forth with her rumored beau.

“Turnt a hoe to a house wife,” wrote Uzi Vert in a since-deleted tweet. “Turnt a trick to my husband,” said JT, mirroring the post and keeping hers up. People reacted negatively to the posts, which got her to address the elephant in the room.

“Y’all use to be in the comments calling him adorable y’all just don’t like me or feel he suppose to be with a weirdo or white girl but nah he with me,” proudly declared JT. “A ghetto b*tch getting that rock Star check f*ck what y’all gotta say! Honestly.”

Do you think JT and Uzi make a nice couple? The world hasn’t seen much of them together, only paying attention when they’re bickering on social media, but they definitely seem to like each other.

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib Drop Off “Piñata Deluxe”

When it comes to the best albums of the past decade, it’s not uncommon to see Freddie Gibbs and Madlib’s collaboration album Piñata, originally released in 2014 and featuring appearances from Raekwon, Ab-Soul, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown, Meechy Darko, and many more. Now, with Gibbs’ acclaim and recognition at an all-time high, the rapper has come through with a substantial revisitation of the project with a five-disc Deluxe Edition.

While there isn’t exactly much in the way of new material, Piñata Deluxe features Freddie’s remix of Kanye West’s “No More Parties In L.A,” appropriately retitled as “Cocaine Parties.” In addition, disc two features bonus cuts and their instrumentals, disc three features an entirely instrumental version of Piñata, disc four includes the album as remixed by Alex Goose, and disc five features another dose of Alex Goose remixes. Not exactly new territory for Gibbs purists, but widening the scope of an artist’s streaming discography is never a bad thing. Should you be looking to revisit a modern classic, consider Piñata Deluxe as the perfect opportunity.
