Megan Rapinoe Criticizes Draymond Green’s Take On The Pay Gap For Women’s Sports

USWNT star Megan Rapinoe has responded to Draymond Green’s comments on the pay gap between men’s and women’s sports. Rapinoe reminded Green who the “gatekeepers” to all the ideas the Warriors’ star had in mind are.

Green initially recommended that women’s sports focus on building their players brand and expanding into a “global sport.” That way, revenue will increase and the players can earn more.

Rapinoe broke down Green’s points in several tweets:

Respectfully, do you really think we haven’t been out here asking for more investment more resources more storytelling more branding and marketing dollars more youth investment more investment in coaches more TV time etc etc etc etc etc to infinity…

Also when they call you about doing a PSA for Women’s Month, why don’t you also tell them alllllllll the things we have been telling them, since forever. And you know who largely are the gatekeepers to that money, investment, resources, capital, time and sponsorship dollars are? Men. Do you know who men listen to? Other men. Just like with fights around all other social issues, change cannot be made if the only people who care about the change enough are the ones who are suffering the most from it.

Check out all of Green’s tweets on the topic here.

Benny Blanco Drops New Track Featuring Late Rapper 6 Dogs

Benny Blanco released his new album, Friends Keep Secrets 2, on Friday, and the project features a new track, “Lost,” from the late rapper 6 Dogs, who was a close friend of Blanco’s.

6 Dogs died from an apparent suicide at the age of 21 back in January. He was a rising voice in the emo-rap scene and collaborated with Lil Skies, Cole Bennett, and more. His biggest singles include “Faygo Dreams” and “Flossing.”

Blanco spoke about their friendship on Twitter soon after his passing.

“he may have been ur favorite rapper 6dogs… but to me he was one of the kindest, toe painting, stargazing, art-making, daydreaming, thoughtful, warmest souls i had ever met,” Blanco wrote. “The way u made us laugh and the ridiculous stories u would tell… i’m just trying to replay em over and over again… i miss ur laugh… i miss ur spirit… and most of all i miss u chase. i love u. rest easy.”

Trey Songz Appears To Respond To Foogiano’s Threats: “Picture That”

Trey Songz appears to have responded to Foogiano’s threat on Saturday in a laughing manner. Foogiano threatened to “slap the shit out of” him for posting a picture of Renni Rucci.

“Slap the shit out you when I get out @treysongz,” he said in a text uploaded by his team. “From The Mayor.”

He continued in video format through a jail phone: “Trey, you a bitch. I’m gon’ slap the fuck out you when I catch you, boy. You better have a lot of security with you and I’ll slap the fuck out them, too, with yo old ass. Sangin ass n***a, you ain’t gon’ sing when I catch your bitch ass, boy.”

While he didn’t comment directly on the threat, shortly after, Songz uploaded a picture of himself with the caption “Picture that,” and a laughing emoji, likely in response to the news.

Foogiano, signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 label, was arrested in Memphis, earlier this month. He was charged for being a fugitive from justice without a warrant in connection to a burglary conviction.

Songz recently went viral on social media after a clip of him spitting in the mouths of two women surfaced

Quando Rondo Posts Lul Tim On IG Amidst Rumors He Was Granted $100k Bond

Quando Rondo joined his affiliates Louwopp, Jumpout Blacc, and 333Pab in celebrating the news that Lul Tim has been granted a $100k bond by uploading a picture of Tim on Instagram, Saturday.

The captionless photo shows Tim in a kitchen and includes Rondo’s song, “Blue Opps.”

333Pab wrote in his post, “@lul_timm3 Pluto otw next welcome home cuz!”

“Ain’t no more free lul tim. Welcome cacc cuz,” Jumpout Blacc added.

Senior Public Information Officer Tracy Flanagan confirmed to XXL that Tim’s $100k bond was posted on Friday: “He’s still in jail. He does have a $100K bond and must be fitted with an ankle monitor.”

Tim was charged with murder in the November 2020 killing of King Von at the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta.

“Honest truth, I wouldn’t wish jail on my worst enemies,” Von’s manager, Track, admitted to VladTV in February. “That’s just how I am, how I’m built. Honest truth, I could care — that’s his situation and he gotta deal with it. That’s his team. Whatever’s going on with them, that’s on them. Me, personally, I know what I’m dealing with losing my brother and his family and just making sure we keep everything going. I don’t really think or even consider what’s going on on that side. That’s for them to figure out what they got going on.”

Rodney Hood Learned On Saturday That His Childhood Neighbor Hayley Was Paramore’s Hayley Williams

The world of basketball and the world of music intersect pretty frequently for one reason or another. Our latest example of this came on Saturday afternoon thanks to new Toronto Raptor Rodney Hood, although it had nothing to do with him dropping a mixtape or deciding to produce an album or anything like that.

Back in June, a since-deleted post by our pal Marco Romo of Five Reasons Sports Network caught the attention of Paramore singer Hayley Williams. In it, Williams revealed that her childhood neighbor in Meridian, Mississippi, was named Rodney, helped teach her how to dance, and “may be an nba player now.”

Now, Hood is the only current NBA player from Meridian, and since the only other Rodney in the NBA is from Maryland (Rodney McGruder), we can probably make an assumption here. Anyway, some time passed, and then Hood got traded to the Raptors, where he was asked about this. Dime pal Blake Murphy of The Athletic, who I lovingly say is the NBA reporter most likely to remember that Williams tweet, brought it to Hood’s attention during his first meeting with the media up north.

Hood revealed two things: 1. He did not realize his neighbor grew up to be the lead singer of Paramore and, 2. He can’t dance.

This is now the best story in the NBA. Once bands can begin touring safely again, I sincerely hope Hood and Williams are reunited during a concert in Toronto.

LaMarcus Aldridge To Join Loaded Nets Team: Report

The Brooklyn Nets made another huge addition to their loaded roster, Saturday, by signing veteran big LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldrige was bought out by the San Antonio Spurs, earlier this week.

“Agent Jeff Schwartz of @excelbasketball confirms Aldridge’s commitment to signing with Nets to ESPN now,” Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted. “Nets have secured Aldridge and Blake Griffin in the buyout market. Brooklyn is loaded for a title run.”

Aldridge, a seven-time NBA All-Star, played his first nine seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers and his last five with the Spurs. This season, he is averaging 13.7 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 46.4 percent from the floor.

“Five years of unforgettable memories… Thank you, San Antonio!” he wrote on Twitter, Thursday.

Aldridge joins a Nets team that has made numerous acquisitions this season. Back in the Fall, James Harden was sent to Brooklyn from the Houston Rockets and earlier this month, the team added veteran power forward Blake Griffin.

The Nets currently sit at second in the Eastern Conference standings with a 31-15 record.

Former Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond is still searching for a new team after also being bought out of his contract this week. Early reports suggest he is considering both the Knicks and Lakers.

Draymond Green Speaks On Pay Gap Between Men’s & Women’s Sports

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, who recently labeled himself the best defender in the league, spoke at length about the pay discrepancy between men’s and women’s sports teams on Twitter, Saturday. Green’s tweets were posted as the UConn Huskies and Iowa Hawkeyes faced off in Saturday’s Sweet 16.

“I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about the pay gap between women and men. Especially in sports. It’s not even close,” Green wrote. “But let’s stop allowing y’all complaints to fall on deaf ears due to numbers. As long as y’all make the argument about pay, while the revenue stays the same they will continue to point at the revenue not being high enough to cover bigger salaries. While that is true in damn near every business, how do we take that card out of their pockets? That’s the key to changing the pay.”

Jonathan Vanian of Fortune reports that the average salary for a WNBA player during the 2019-20 season was $75,000 and that the average salary for an NBA player in the same season was approximately $7.7 million.

Green continued:

There’s no argument for lack of revenue unless you make those that say they stand for women actually stand up. The NBA wasn’t always the global game that it is today. It wasn’t always driving as much revenue as it does today. But there were people behind it, building the platform, and more importantly telling INDIVIDUAL stories and building up the interest in the players. That’s how the game took off. Who’s building up y’all platform? Who’s telling the individual stories of how great y’all are? Building the interest and transforming women’s basketball into a global game?

At the start of March Madness, the NCAA faced substantial criticism for the differences between men’s and women’s training facilities and more.
