YBN Nahmir Debated Quitting Rap Before “Opp Stoppa” Became A Viral Hit

Today is a big day for YBN Nahmir. After teasing fans for a year about the arrival of his debut studio album, the rapper has delivered Visionland. The 20-track project hosts features from artists like E-40, Too $hort, G-Eazy, Offset, G Herbo, and 21 Savage—the latter of which hopped on the remix to Nahmir’s viral hit, “Opp Stoppa.” The track found fame over on TikTok and earned the YBN rapper an opportunity to reach a new audience, but in a recent interview with GQ, Nahmir admitted that there was a time when he struggled with whether or not he should continuing pursuing his career.

“For a minute, I was thinking, ‘Do I really want to keep doing this rapping sh*t? Maybe I’ll just keep going, just stay in the background.’ And so this was a blessing in disguise,” Nahmir said of “Opp Stoppa” gaining traction years after its release. “And 21 Savage hopped on the remix, he did the most amazing work that I’ve seen, cause he matched my flow, he matched everything.”

“And I salute cuz for that, because a lot of obstacles that had been put in front of me, he moved them, to be honest,” the rapper added. “‘Opp Stoppa’ – it wasn’t one of them songs that I really put a lot of effort into. It was one of them f*ck around songs. But with just time and patience, it just came and blew up out of nowhere. And it gave me a real push, to where I can drop the album now, and everybody is excited for it.”

It’s the song that keeps on giving. Staten Island rapper CJ is on his way up thanks to his breakout hit “Whoopty” and it seems that once fans think the hype surrounding the single has dissipated, a new remix or freestyle comes to the surface. We recently received a remix that included features from Rowdy Rebel and CJ’s “mentor” French Montana, and another has been shared, the Latin Mix version, with looks from Anuel AA and Ozuna.

Along with the bilingual remix comes a Fight Club-inspired visual that matches the temperature of the track. Expect to hear much more from CJ in the coming months as the new Warner Records signee attempts to recreate—or supersede—the success of his first Top Ten hit. Big Sean Praises Lil Nas X’s “Creativity N Confidence” In “MONTERO” Visual

It’s officially Lil Nas X season once again now that the star has announced that his next album, MONTERO, will arrive this summer. The “Old Town Road” wave helped catapult the young artist into stardom and soon, Lil Nas X was feeling the pressures that come with fame. He took a break to gather himself before returning to the celebrity scene and on Friday (March 26), he shared his single “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name),” a track that he said he’s been sitting on for nine months. It’s a song that Lil Nas X holds dear but the music video has caused an uproar.

In the visual, Nas X wears different outfits as he portrays various characters, including a devil that receives a limber lapdance by another character the rapper plays. Much like he did when he came out as gay, Lil Nas X has received polarizing responses, but one person who made sure to lend his support is Detroit icon, Big Sean.

On Instagram, Lil Nas X bombarded his followers with images from his recent music video. He asked what everyone’s favorite part of the visual was, and Sean Don jumped in the comments with a few kind words. “The creativity n confidence to do you fully is my favorite part! Keep rockin bro,” the rapper shared. The comment didn’t go unnoticed by Lil Nas X.

“Wow bro thanks!” he replied. “Means a lot coming from you! i’m blasting deep reverence today!” Check it out below.

Rare Tupac Photo Take 14 Days Before His Death Being Sold As NFT

Producer Delray Richardson came across a gem years ago while sifting through old film negatives at a friend’s home. What he stumbled upon was a picture of Tupac Shakur that was taken back in 1996 just weeks before the Rap icon was gunned down in Las Vegas. The Baltimore Sun previously spoke with Richardson about the photo and detailed how it was captured: The producer was showing a few friends around Los Angeles hotspots when he spotted Shakur’s custom Hummer on the road. Richardson had worked with the rapper and called him a friend, so when he pulled up and requested a photo for his visitors, Tupac was happy to oblige.

One of Richardson’s friends wanted a moment with the famed rapper, but he said he couldn’t get out due to the traffic. The person posed a question to Shakur and asked how many times he was shot during the 1994 incident in Manhattan. “Five,” the rapper reportedly said as he held up five fingers just as the photo was taken, making for a rare moment.

In recent months, there has been an onslaught of information regarding NFTs, or non-refundable tokens. People have been making millions from selling items as NFTs and Richardson has added his name to the list by putting not only his Tupac photo up for auction, but a video of Michael Jordan that shows the sports icon breaking up a fight between his bodyguard and a gang member following a fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

“If Beeple’s 5000 day’s NFT sold for $69,000,000, then 1/1 ultra rare NFT’s of Tupac Shakur & Michael Jordan is surely worth $2,500,000 or more,” Richardson told us exclusively via email. The opening bid for the Jordan clip is at $1.5 million while Tupac comes in at $1 million. Recently, Ja Rule was able to unload a Fyre Festival painting after selling it as an NFT for $122K.

Let us know if you’d shell out big bucks for rare items such as these and make sure to check out our article on the fallen star: Tupac Lives: How The Rapper’s Attitude Shaped A Hip-Hop Mindset.

“Power” Actor Michael Rainey Jr. Claims Police Harassed Him, 50 Cent Responds

No one is exempt from being stopped by police and Power actor Michael Rainey Jr. shared his recent experience on social media. We’ve read through headlines about the public’s interactions with law enforcement that turned deadly including events involving George Floyd, Elijah McClain, Anthony McClain, and Philando Castile. The public has shone a light on how officers go about policing neighborhoods and activists have repeatedly accused authorities of discriminatory practices that are reportedly embedded in systemic racism. Rainey seems to agree with that assessment.

The television star shared a brief clip of an officer at the window of his vehicle as he’s inside. The officer has one hand on his gun as Rainey has his back to him while he searches for his identification in the backseat. Over the clip, Rainey detailed what happened and said he was just sitting in the vehicle when the officer approached him.

“This guy was bout to shoot me I swear that camera saved my life,” the actor wrote. “Look what he does as soon as he looks into the lens. someone please send his precinct or whatever if u know. These power tripping ass police need they badge taken. Unlawful traffic stop. Didn’t even pull me over. Didn’t tell me what I was being pulled over for.”

“Just came to the whip yelling and sh*t wit his hand on his gun,” Rainey continued. “This guy also said stop reaching while I was looking for my license, I guess he was tryna come up with a reason to shoot me.” In another clip, the actor suggested he was questioned because he was a Black man in a nice car. After The Shade Room reposted the video, 50 Cent commented, “Dam [facepalm emoji] this is crazy.” Check it out below.
