Jhené Aiko Loads “Sailing Soul(s)” To DSPs Ahead Of Its 10-Year Anniversary

In honor of the imminent 10-year anniversary of Sailing Soul(s), Jhené Aiko has finally loaded her classic mixtape to DSPs. The fan-favorite project also coincides with the singer-songwriter‘s birthday, so it has always held a special place in Aiko’s heart.

Speaking at lengths about the impact the Sailing Soul(s) had on her as an artist and as a person, the “P*$$& Fairy” singer shared the following sentiments in a heartfelt Instagram post: “this mixtape was a pivotal moment for me. when i was 12 i was signed to a label, singing songs i had no real connection to. besides that, i had no real stories of my own to tell at 12 lol. then i took a break to focus on school. in my teens i was singing demo records and taking meetings.”

After touching on the meaning of the project’s title, she revealed, “”sailing soul(s)” was an independent project and the beginning of me writing every lyric to every song i sing.”

Today, Sailing Soul(s) hits streaming services with an updated tracklist, as Jhené Aiko treats fans to four new bonus tracks, including “living room flow,” “mirrors,” “2 seconds,” and “snapped.” Other changes to Aiko’s career-changing mixtape include some fan-favorite songs, such as her Drake collaboration “July” and her Kendrick Lamar-assisted “Growing Apart Too,” being cut from its DSP version.

The reasons for why those standout tracks from the original version of Sailing Soul(s) are not included in this new reissue could vary from failed sample clearance to Jhené Aiko’s artistic discretion. Regardless, fans are likely still teeming with excitement that her breakout mixtape is finally on streaming services.

50 Cent Reacts To Snoop Dogg Joining “BMF”

50 Cent and Snoop Dogg have a history of collaboration. While it’s not exactly the most prolific track record, it’s clear that the two rap legends have nothing but respect for one another; no easy feat, given how selective 50 is when it comes to his inner circle. Today, Fif has come through to tease a reunion between himself and his “P.I.M.P” partner, one that happens to center around the ambitious BMF TV series.

“Your boy’s are back working together again, nothing but success BMF,” writes 50 Cent, celebrating the news that Snoop Dogg has officially joined the cast of BMFDeadline indicates that the Doggfather will be returning to his gospel roots with the “spiritually themed recurring role” of Pastor Swift, a man of God who appears dedicated to keeping the Flenory family’s moral compass on the straight and narrow. However, Deadline teases that Swift may or may not find himself immersed in some activities that the Lord wouldn’t necessarily approve of.

In addition to Snoop Dogg, BMF will also bring Power vet La La Anthony and Empire alumni Serayah into the fold. Good news all around, especially for fans of Snoop Dogg’s acting work. Most recently, Snoop appeared in Harmony Korine’s The Beach Bum alongside Matthew McConaughey, a performance that was met with general acclaim — though some argued that he was simply playing himself. From the sound of it, however, Pastor Swift will give Snoop a bit of room to flex his acting muscles, and his presence will be most welcome when BMF ultimately premieres on Starz.

Clever Displays His Range On “Call Me Nobody” With Lil Wayne & His Son Isaiah Lyric

One of the music industry’s best-kept secrets, Alabama native Clever is unpacking more layers of his story on his star-studded debut album Crazy. The rising artist signed a collaboration deal with Post Malone and Juice WRLD before his passing, soaking up knowledge from two of the greatest artists of all-time and learning how to mold himself into a superstar of his own. With Crazy, Clever is finally scratching at his potential, showcasing his incredible songwriting skills and displaying range and versatility on songs like “Call Me Nobody”.

It’s not fair to place Clever in a box. The artist has felt trapped at times in his life, being closed off in limiting label deals and getting locked away in jail for years of his life. He’s back on track to become the star that he was always meant to be though, kicking off his major-label success with Crazy. “Call Me Nobody” is one of Clever’s most interesting records on the new album, featuring Lil Wayne as well as the artist’s son Isaiah Lyric, who sings the closing melody during the outro.

He can play piano better than me, and I feel like I’m a pretty good piano player,” said Clever about his son Isaiah Lyric in a new interview with HotNewHipHop, which will be released later today. “At the end of the song, I’m doing like this ‘lalalalala’ thing to finish the song, and he was sitting there, I guess just hearing the melodies over and over and felt the need to sing along with it. But when he did it, he just stuck his mouth to the mic and did it. That’s not something that he typically does. You know what I’m saying? He knows when I’m on the microphone that he’s gotta be quiet. But he just, I don’t know, felt the urge to stick his mouth to the microphone and start doing it. I didn’t ask him to do it or nothin’ like that.”

Listen to Clever’s new song “Call Me Nobody” with Lil Wayne and Isaiah Lyric below, and stay tuned for our exclusive interview with Clever, which will be published later today.

Quotable Lyrics:

I never believed in ghosts ’til I saw my roof
But in the big city, no man gets pity
That ain’t did sh*t, he just gets did sh*tty
While I’m alive, we gon’ sit pretty
Whеn I die, I don’t know if I might ever see thе holy ghost
Don’t know where I’m going, but I know that I ain’t going broke
But I wanna see X, and I wanna see Peep
So I pray to Juice WRLD every time I go to sleep

Giveon has been on fire lately, thanks to his incredible 2020 releases Take Time and When It’s All Said And Done. A few weeks ago, the Long Beach native blessed Tiny Desk with a soulful at-home concert, and this weekend, the singer-songwriter is up for a Grammy. On Sunday, Giveon will finally find out if his seminal project Take Time will earn him the award for Best R&B album, but for now, the breakout star is taking a moment to celebrate his Grammy-nominated record ahead of the one-year anniversary of its release.

In regards to the new release, Giveon took to Instagram to share the following message, “The anniversary for the release of Take Time is creeping up on us all….what a year it’s been. My first two EPs were stories about a chapter in my love life. The bright spots and the nuisances. I really just used music as a vehicle to exhibit all of my vulnerabilities and truths… the fact that so many people are moved by my stories leaves me speechless everyday. I’m beyond grateful and blessed to have you all along every step of the journey.”

Giveon finished his statement by hinting at a new chapter in his career, saying, “I decided to combine both of my first two eps into one project: When It’s All Said and Done… Take Time. I also added a new song to the project… the end of a chapter means the start of a new one..”

Lil Wayne Gets A New Face Tattoo

Somehow and someway, legendary New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne managed to find a spot on his face to get another new tattoo.

The rapper has been touching up his look for decades, adding new art to his face and elsewhere on his body. Over the years, he has shown off new ink additions on his forehead, cheeks, and chin, seemingly filling up every blank space on his visage. To be frank, Tunechi probably has more tattoos on his face than most people do on their entire bodies. Still, he knows that he can always find a new spot to play around with, recently getting the cross between his eyebrows touched up with celebrity tattoo artist Ivana Belakova.

“Love you forever @liltunechi,” wrote the tattoo artist on Instagram, posting a picture from their link-up in Beverly Hills, California. “One of my dreams came through today. THANK YOU! you are so awesome!”

Belakova seemingly only did a small piece for Wayne, darkening the mark from the cross on his forehead. It’s unclear if he got anything else during their meeting. Belakova recently also did tattoos for Lil Twist and Lil Duke, according to her Instagram page.

Recently, Gillie Da Kid spoke about how his Lil Wayne diss affected the outcome of his mixtape release. You can read about that here. Wayne is also featured on the new Clever album, so if you’re looking for new music, check that out here.

The Grammys’ Respond To The Weeknd’s Boycott

It happens every year. The Grammy nominations arrive and with them the inevitable snubs and scorned reactions. Though many have simply chosen to pay the ceremony no mind, maintaining that it does not provide an accurate representation of assessing the quality of a given year, others have taken a more aggressive stance. In the case of The Weeknd, whose After Hours project was met with resounding silence from the Recording Academy, a full-blown boycott was the decided course of action.

Following Weeknd’s pledge to forsake future Grammy submissions altogether, Recording Academy interim CEO Henry Mason Jr. had a few words on the Canadian superstar’s decision. “We’re all disappointed when anyone is upset,” he explains, in a statement shared by the New York Times. “But I will say that we are constantly evolving. And this year, as in past years, we are going to take a hard look at how to improve our awards process, including the nomination review committees.”

A general response to be sure, and one that will likely do little in swaying The Weeknd’s opinion. After all, he’s hardly the first artist to take a hard-line stance against The Grammy Awards; Eminem has been a vocal critic of the ceremony, having accused them of manipulating artists into attending and even performing only to snub them entirely when the trophies come. Even Justin Bieber has decided to follow The Weeknd’s path, vowing to skip The Grammys following the snub of his recent Changes album.

For those interested, The Grammy Awards are set to air this coming Sunday, March 14, 2021. Despite the many high-profile snubs, one category that has been consistently praised is that of the Best Rap Album, which brought nominations to Royce Da 5’9″, Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist, Jay Electronica, Nas, and D Smoke.

Joe Biden Called “Moneybagg Joe” After New Round Of Stimulus Checks

Although it is payday for several people in America today, social media users are celebrating a different type of cash influx altogether. The $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill has officially been signed by President Joe Biden, so most Americans will be receiving $1,400 stimulus checks in the coming days. With so many people ecstatic about the upcoming government checks, several people have taken to Twitter to celebrate. Somewhere amidst all of the celebratory tweets, however, President Joe Biden has been memeified into “Moneybagg Joe.”

Playing off of CMG artist Moneybagg Yo’s stage name, Twitter users have been getting their jokes off for hours by referring to the 46th President of the United States as “Moneybagg Joe,” plastering his face onto popular Hip-Hop music videos, and everything in between. Similar to when creative social media users found the time to photoshop a massive 4PF chain onto Biden, the latest Moneybagg Joe content is equally, if not more, hilarious.

While many users have opted for simple photoshops of Biden’s head into preexisting photos, some of their posts go as far as to blend Joe Biden’s face into Moneybagg Yo and Tekashi 6ix9ine music videos using the reface app. With so many memes swirling across social media, one Twitter user summed up everyone’s excitement, writing, “Moneybagg Joe got us in a bandemic.”

Check out an assortment of the ridiculous Moneybagg Joe tweets below.
