DMX’s Family Warns Against Scammers Trying To Profit From Rapper’s Death: Report

As with all highly publicized deaths, scammers are waiting in the wings. DMX fans continue to offer tributes and celebrate the life of the late rapper whose untimely death occurred following a heart attack. His family has made sure that the narrative surrounding DMX’s passing has been respectful and truthful, but there are still those who are using the rapper’s death as a way to swindle the masses.

According to TMZ, there are plans to have both public and private services for the beloved New York emcee, and as we await news of those events, the outlet states that DMX’s family is warning against falling for scams. There have been alleged rumors floating about that X’s loved ones are in need of financial help to pull together his funeral service, and TMZ reports that the rapper’s family states that is simply not the truth.

There have also been reported companies selling DMX merchandise that’s supposedly connected to his family and the outlet claims that the rapper’s relatives have not sanctioned anything official at this time. The family also reportedly has called foul on the rumors that Jay-Z and Beyoncé purchased DMX’s masters for $10 million in order to give them to his loved ones. Apparently, that isn’t true.

“The family says X’s masters aren’t in play with Jay and Bey at all,” TMZ reports. “Yes, some are still under Def Jam control — but not owned by Jay outright.”

Usher Didn’t Tip Strippers With Fake Money, Accuser Backtracks

His name has been a trending topic for the better part of the day (April 12) after a woman accused Usher of making it rain in the strip club with fake money. The irate woman shared photos of the large bills that looked quite real aside from Usher’s face being plastered in the center. “Working so hard to get nothing in return! This is a joke!!” a person wrote of the incident. “Their job is to entertain, take your cheap ass back home!!!!!”

Soon, people accused the singer of swindling strippers, but TMZ now reports that the “Usher bucks” were used for promotion, not as real money. The outlet claims that they have been told that the incident occurred in Las Vegas at the Sapphire club, and while there, Usher and his crew spent stacks of real money on the staff. It’s reported that they tipped “quite generously” and spent “thousands on the dancers.”

Additionally, the group also dropped a few bills on bottle service—real money, once again—but someone in the singer’s entourage allegedly thought it would be funny to also leave behind Usher-faced cash as a joke. Sapphire reportedly doesn’t have any issues with Usher and would love to have him and his friends back any time.

It’s said that the money is also a part of the promotion for his upcoming residency in Las Vegas. After this information came to light, the reported dancer who launched the controversy has backtracked and is now saying she never suggested that the fake money was the only cash the singer used. Doja Cat Jokes Her “New Stage Name” Includes Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Rihanna, & More

There has been quite the chatter about women in Rap as of late. Conversations about who’s-besting-who have been ongoing, but last week, cupcakKe reignited things when she sent out a tweet stating that there is a lack of lyrical women emcees. Hip Hop fans began debating why that isn’t a true statement, but the conversation only caused cupcakKe to return to social media to double down on her previous remarks.

Aside from discussing who is the best lady that brings the bars, some people complained that there isn’t enough support and unity as it pertains to women in the music industry. Yet, Doja Cat seemed to give a nod to her fellow rappers and R&B singers with a simple tweet. The Hot Pink artist joked that she was planning on changing her name and included a few women that she admires.

Young Thug Announces “Slime Language 2” Release Date

For months, Young Thug has been hinting at the release of new music. The numerous releases from the YSL camp has kept fans on their toes for the sequel to Slime Language. The hype has steadily been building with singles like “Take It To Trial,” “GFU,” and “That Go!” Even with the release of all three singles between December and February, there was hardly any update on the status of Slime Language 2.

This Friday, that will all change. Thug took to Instagram earlier today where he announced the release date for Slime Language 2. The album is set for an April 16th release date. The rapper shared the project’s cover art which includes the ever-expansive YSL family seated in a spooky living room, equipped with a green dog.

Though this will mark another compilation tape from the camp, fans have been eagerly awaiting on some new solo music from Thug. It’s been nearly two years since he dropped So Much Fun, though he and Chris Brown did drop off Slime & B in time for the pandemic. The project produced the single, “Go Crazy” that earned them a BET Hip-Hop Award nomination, despite the little promotion for the project.

We’re excited for what Young Thug and the crew has in store this Friday. What features do you hope to see on Slime Language 2?

Jay-Z & Beyoncé Did Not Buy DMX’s Master For $10M, Swizz Beatz Says

The rap world continues to mourn the death of DMX who passed away at the age of 50 on Friday. In the week of his hospitalization, there was a large amount of misinformation spreading regarding the status of his health. Even after his passing, unsubstantiated claims spread across the Internet regarding DMX’s catalog and The Carters’ involvement in purchasing his masters.

The article that sparked this rumor claimed that Jay-Z and Beyoncé were dropping $10M to purchase DMX’s masters from Def Jam to give to the late rapper’s children. That couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s unclear where the rumor spread but it landed on the page of @chakabars who left his followers under the impression that The Carters were getting involved. Swizz Beatz slid under the comment section where he dispelled the rumors, writing, “Not true King,” along with a prayer hand emojis.

On Saturday, Swizz Beatz took to Instagram where he offered thoughts on the passing of his late friend and collaborator. “My brother was a different type of brother—a different type of artist, a different type of creative, different type of spirit, different type of zone, different type of soul,” Swizz said. “He was the biggest because he prayed for everybody else more than himself. He’d get on the stage and pray for 15,000 people, knowing that he needed more prayers than anybody that he was praying for.”

Alfonso Ribeiro Says “Bel Air” Is Not A “Fresh Prince” Reboot: “A Totally Different Show”

The reboot of Will Smith’s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air isn’t exactly what you’d think. The new series, which holds the shortened title Bel-Air, has already been purchased for two seasons and will air on the streaming service Peacock, but it isn’t going to maintain the sitcom genre of its predecessor. The show consists of a complete re-imagining of Will’s original character, before moving to Bel-Air, and is based off of a mock YouTube trailer that a fan made in 2019. Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton, gave his two cents recently on the upcoming series, dismissing the idea it’s a reboot.

“A reboot would be taking the actual show and characters and bringing it back. This is a totally different show,” Ribeiro told E! News. “It’s not even based on the show. It’s based on the theme song. It’s a completely different thing. It’s drama. It’s not comedy. I have nothing to do with it so I don’t really know anything more.”

Ribeiro went on to say that he’s actually more intrigued by this concept than he would be with a true reboot. “I actually appreciate it even more than a reboot,” he said. “Let’s take a concept and turn it into a different show. I’m like, roll the dice. Go ahead and try it and see what happens.”

It’s unclear when exactly the new show will be available on the small screen, but hopefully more news about the exciting collaboration with Peacock will come soon. Check out the announcement video and the original fan-made trailer below.
