G Herbo Charged With Lying To Federal Agents In Fraud Case: Report

G Herbo’s legal issues continue to pile on as the rapper continues to battle a fraud case. According to The Shade Room, the Chicago rapper returned to court after the U.S. District Attorney filed another charge against him for lying to federal agents. Federal documents claim that the rapper had lied about his connection to one of his alleged co-conspirators who, the D.A. claims, is one of Herbo’s friends.

“Herbert Wright III, a/k/a ‘Herb,’ ‘Lil Herb,’ ‘G Herbo,’ and ‘Herbert Light,’ knowingly and willfully made the following materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statements and representations in a matter within the jurisdiction of the executive branch of the Government of the United States, that is, during a voluntary interview with a special agent of the United States Secret Service and a special agent of the (FBI),” the doc reads.

The co-conspirator in question is Antonio Strong who the D.A. says is actually Herbo’s business partner. Prosecutors claim that Herbo informed the FBI that he never received any payments or valued gifts from Strong.

“In truth and in fact, as the defendant knew: (a) since at least 2016, Strong worked with and assisted him; (b) he provided Strong money; (c) he received things of value from Strong, including private jet charters, luxury accommodations, and exotic car rentals; and (d) he had frequent direct contact with Strong, including telephone conversations, text messages, and Instagram direct messages,” the doc continues.

Herbo reportedly agreed to a motion that would allow prosecutors to tack this charge into his original case since it’s connected. We’ll keep you posted on any updates.

Kodak Black & Hood Donald Duck Had The Funniest Instagram Live Fight

Kodak Black is known for his rap wars almost as much as his hit singles — recent beefs with Southside, Pooh Shiesty and Lil Baby are just some of the recent run-ins in his career that we could name. However, we think he may have finally met his match with the viral Internet celebrity known simply as Hood Donald Duck.

Boasting a sizable 108,000 Instagram followers — not too bad for a shit-talking inanimate object! —  Hood Donald Duck (@hood.donald_) gave Kodak all the smoke in his signature raspy/squeaky voice during a recent IG Live run-in. We’re not sure if this is Donald Duck’s long-lost twin, identical cousin or some Earth-313 version of your favorite aquatic bird with a lisp, but either way he definitely has the sharp tongue that’s strong enough to handle even Kodak Black’s out of pocket persona.

Based off his accent, we can only assume Hood Donald Duck hails all the way from one of the boroughs in NYC, and it goes without saying that his red bandana alludes to his gang affiliation without having to say too much. Thankfully this is of course all in good fun, which is a nice side of Kodak to see given his more real-life beefs with each of those aforementioned rap peers and more, most of the time beefing without even a good reason. In the case of Lil Baby for example, their beef actually started over — wait for it! — “money-spreading pics.” While Lil Baby’s “Don’t sneak diss on the internet call me” tweet  was actually something we can agree with, the whole thing just seemed like it didn’t even need to be addressed in the first place from neither side.

Take a look at Kodak Black and Hood Donald Duck’s hilarious back and forth in full below, and let us know who you think had the best comebacks by sounding off below:

DMX Reminisces About The Early Days Of His Career In His Final Interview

Before his passing, DMX seemed happy to make time for interviews with various outlets, as it usually gave him an outlet to speak on the issues that weighed on his mind or reminisce about the good old days coming up in New York City (or Yonkers, as the case may be). It also provided plenty of meme-able moments and hilarious quotes, such as the time he shared his opinion on Drake, or that time he was flummoxed to learn a Black man named “Barack” was running for president, or that time he wound up singing “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer,” delighting fans on the internet for the next half-decade to come.

And although he’s gone now, we’ve still got at least one last interview to look forward to, as TV One managed to get ahold of him in the midst of his comeback campaign for DMX Uncensored, a docu-series filmed just three weeks before his untimely demise that looks at his rise, fall, and bid for redemption in his own words. While the interview itself is scheduled to air May 16 at 8 pm ET on TVOne, a quick teaser was shared on the network’s Twitter account to promote the event.

Meanwhile, you can check out DMX’s People’s Party interview with Talib Kweli right here on Uproxx.

Bas Has Glowing Praise For J. Cole’s “The Off-Season”

This week has seen so much hype for J. Cole’s The Off Season that you’d think it was dropping this Friday. Alas, the big day is set to arrive next Friday, May 14th, which gives ample time for Cole and his Dreamville associates to drum up hype to the umpteenth degree. We’ve already heard from Cozz on the matter, who confidently declared the project to be Cole’s best album yet. It would appear he’s not alone in that promising assessment.

Frequent Cole collaborator Bas, who held it down alongside him on “My Ni**a Just Made Bail,” “Boca Raton,” and “Down Bad,” also took a moment to throw a bit of coal into the hype train’s engine. “The Off-Season @realcoleworld 5/14/21 @dreamville,” writes Bas. “I ain’t never lied to you. Y’all can get out my dm’s now. this is up there with bros best works to date. put my word on that too.

Bas’ claim was swiftly echoed by Dreamville co-founder Ibrahim H, who deemed Bas’ praise to be “big facts.” While it’s not entirely surprising to see a label uniting behind a big release, it’s still cool to see Bas and Cozz alike stepping up and recognizing what Cole is bringing to the table. One has to wonder if we’ll see a heavier Dreamville presence on The Off-Season, or if J. Cole will hold true to his oft-cited mantra of going “platinum with no features.”

We already saw Timbaland teasing a potential J. Cole Off-Season collaboration, so it’s entirely possible that Cole is opening the door for guest appearances on this go-around. It would certainly be exciting to see an increased Dreamville presence, perhaps a “Down Bad” reunion posse cut with Bas, J.I.D, and EarthGang or even a conceptually driven response to Cozz and Reason’s “Lambo Truck.” All bets are well and truly off.

Look for the Bas and Cozz approved The Off-Season to arrive in full on Friday, May 14th. Do you think this one has the potential to be Cole’s magnum opus?

22Gz Fires More Shots At CJ: “You Ain’t Whoopty”

What would the world of hip-hop be without its beefs? The latest involves rising emcees 22Gz and CJ, and it’s pretty much been brewing up since the beginning of this year. Their war of words seems to be sparked by a battle over who controls Brooklyn’s buzzing drill scene in rap, with 22Gz recently adding fuel to the fire on the most petty platform possible: Instagram!

Image: Scott Dudelson/Getty Images

“HOW THE FUCK YOU SCREAMING WHOOPTY,” 22Gz wrote as an all-caps caption on a picture he posted a few days ago, following up by adding, “YOU AINT WHOOPTY.” Now we’re not trying to start trouble here by a long shot, but you would be fooling yourself to think that comment wasn’t aimed at CJ in some sort of way. Back in February he had way more to say in regards to his dislike for CJ, breaking down their beef to AllHipHop by saying, “I just wanted the credit for my s*** because I done gave sauce to damn near everybody in the city and nobody tapped in. Even the opps use my s*** — all the lingo you see, all the dancing, that’s mine.” That comment was also a blanket statement meant for Tekashi 6ix9ine to snuggle up in as well, with 22Gz ultimately just wanting his props for being the first out of New York, Brooklyn in particular, to make the drill scene pop off.

On the other side, CJ told us exclusively for HNHH’s Rise & Grind that “Whoopty” was simply a thing of magic, stating, “I was on YouTube one day, just scrolling through instrumental and that sample had caught my attention. And the song is produced by a producer named  Pxcoyo. He’s from Romania. The knock on the beat was just crazy. I was like “ Yeah I definitely gotta jump on this and see what I could do with it.” I locked in the studio and made magic.” Sounds pretty harmless, no?

Does 22Gz have a point? Is CJ getting unfair treatment for a rookie? Let us know your thoughts down below in the comments section as always:
