Mac Miller’s Estate Says No To A Biography Planned For Release Near His B-Day

The music industry suffered a crushing blow in 2018 when Mac Miller passed away. Since then, avid fans of the late multi-hyphenate have worked hard to try and keep Mac’s legacy alive in a tasteful way that appeases both his supporters and the family members he left behind. The Mac Miller estate recently announced the upcoming biography The Book Of Mac: Remembering Mac Miller penned by Donna-Claire Chesman.

While the family of the late artist approved of this biography, journalist Paul Cantor’s upcoming Mac biography called Most Dope: The Extraordinary Life Of Mac Miller has not received the same reception from the Mac Miller estate. Slated for a January 17th release on the late artist’s birthday, Cantor’s efforts have been denounced by Mac’s family.

In a statement shared by Miller’s estate officially denouncing the upcoming project, they noted that it was, “not authorized or endorsed by Malcolm’s family,” going on to add that Cantor was not associated with Mac during his life. The statement also highlights that Cantor was advised that  “the family and friends of Malcolm were uncomfortable with him authoring this biography.”

The book has since been made available for pre-order, further rubbing Mac’s family the wrong way and leading them to suspect it was announced to take advantage of the Book of Mac pre-order and confuse unaware fans.

The family officially expressed their dissatisfaction with Cantor and Abrams Press for marking the release date so close to Mac’s birthday (January 18).   “With that in mind,” the statement reads, “We urge those that wish to support Malcolm and his legacy to abstain from purchasing this new book.” You can read the full statement from the family below.

Mac Miller’s Estate Denounces A Biography Planned For Release Near His Birthday

With the Mac Miller estate announcing The Book Of Mac: Remembering Mac Miller releasing this October, fans may be surprised to learn that Donna-Claire Chesman’s book isn’t the only one about the rapper planned for release in the next year. Journalist Paul Cantor also has a biography in the works called Most Dope: The Extraordinary Life Of Mac Miller with a release date of January 17, but unlike Chesman’s book, Cantor’s effort has drawn the ire of Miller’s estate.

Sharing a statement through publicity company Orienteer’s Nick Dierl, Miller’s estate denounced the upcoming project, saying that it was “not authorized or endorsed by Malcolm’s family” and noted that Cantor wasn’t closely connected with Mac during the rapper’s life. The statement also points out the Cantor was advised that “the family and friends of Malcolm were uncomfortable with him authoring this biography.” The fact that the book has since been made available for pre-order also rubbed Mac’s family the wrong way, prompting them to wonder if the release date was announced to take advantage of the Book Of Mac pre-order in hopes of confusing fans.

The family expresses disappointment with Cantor and Abrams Press for the move and for setting the release date so close to Mac’s birthday (January 18). “With that in mind,” the statement reads, “We urge those that wish to support Malcolm and his legacy to abstain from purchasing this new book.” You can read the full statement below.

Mac Miller is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Conan O’Brien Hilariously Accepts An Apology From BTS’ J-Hope For Getting His Name Wrong

Over the past few days, Conan O’Brien and BTS have found themselves in a bit of a situation. A few days ago, clip from a South Korean variety show surfaced, in which BTS’ J-Hope misidentified O’Brien as “Curtain” before he and his bandmates realized the error and had a laugh about it. O’Brien featured the clip on Conan and playfully got upset with the group. Now, the saga continues: Today, J-hope offered an apology to O’Brien, which he has accepted.

Taking to the official BTS Twitter account, J-Hope wrote, “Sorry,,,,, Curtain [kissing face emojis] @ConanOBrien.” He then used a subsequent tweet to tack on a selfie of himself pouting his lips. O’Brien responded with humor, of course, replying, “In Hobi’s defense, Curtain makes about as much sense as being named Conan.”

(“Hobi,” by the way, is J-Hope’s nickname.)

O’Brien made it clear on his show that there were no hard feelings about the mishap, as he said through laughter, “I’ll get you, BTS. Oh I’ll get you good. And by that, I mean I’ll silently resent you. I have no power to do anything to you. You’re going to go on to have huge success. I’m very old and on the way out and you guys are pretty much running the world. So when I say I’ll get you, I just mean I’m gonna stew in my own juices for quite a long time, and you’ll be vastly unaware.”

Marvel’s “Blade” Filming Delayed To 2022

Marvel’s MCU continues to move forward at a steady pace, having already lined up an impressive new phase of cinematic adventures. And while many flicks like Thor: Love And Thunder, The Eternals, Guardians Of The Galaxy 3, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, there’s something about the upcoming reboot of Bladestarring Mashershala Ali in the titular role, that has piqued curiosity on a widespread level.

Perhaps it’s the perceived tonal shift, which raises the questions of how exactly vampires will be integrated into the long-running Marvel Cinematic Universe — though don’t be surprised if Dr. Strange has a hand in that particular segue. Perhaps it’s the visceral violence of the Wesley Snipes films, which was gruesome enough to net the R rating; alas, the MCU version of Blade will probably not hold such a distinction.

In spite of the myriad questions surrounding the film, Blade has quietly elevated into one of the most anticipated flicks on the Marvel slate. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see the Daywalker once again. A new report from The Hollywood Reporter indicates that the film’s production has been delayed from this coming September to July 2022, as Disney and Marvel apparently need additional time to fine-tune the script, penned by Stacy Osei-Kuffour of HBO’s Watchmen.

Though delays are seldom welcomed by fanbases, least of all one as rabid and loyal as the Marvel army, it does bode well that the studio intends on taking their time with this one. Be sure to keep an eye out for additional news on Marvel’s Blade, which will likely see a widespread release in late 2023. At this time, the project has yet to secure a director, though THR indicates that the search for Marvel’s first Black director is already beginning.

Are you looking forward to catching Blade when it hits theaters?

Tank Recalls Providing Background Vocals For Aaliyah On “Come Over”

Tank’s musical longevity in the music industry can be chalked up to his sheer talent. While he has sold a healthy amount of records on his own, he also boasts impressive songwriting and production credits for huge names in music like Beyoncé, Fantasia, Kelly Rowland, Jamie Foxx, Monica, Pitbull, and the late Aaliyah

The platinum-selling R&B singer recently appeared on Elle Magazine’s popular Youtube Channel segment “Song Association.” During his appearance, the famed musician opened up about how he wished he had the opportunity to collaborate with Aaliyah before she passed. He also divulged how he was able to provide background vocals on her 2001 album cut “Come Over.”

“The song you hear me on, “Come Over,”(as he lets out a note) I just happened to walk in the studio that day. We were going to check on baby girl, and she was working with Johnta Austin,” he said while on the show.

He continued, “As soon as I walked in, she said, “Tank can do it,” Johnta said,” Tank can do it,” and I was like,” Tank can do what?”

Tank continued to explain that Aaliyah and Johnta sent him into the booth and from there, the rest is history! It’s been nearly 20 years since the track was released and since Aaliyah’s passing but perhaps now more than ever, her music is being recognized for its lasting impact.

Check out Tank’s full episode of Song Association below to hear him belt out Kelly Rowland, The Supremes, and his hit “When We.” Did you know Tank provided backing vocals for Aaliyah on “Come Over”? Let us know down in the comments.

Nike KD 14 “Deep Royal” Dropping Soon: Official Photos

Kevin Durant is a top-tier player in the NBA and when you are as good as KD, you typically get your very own signature shoe. In fact, Durant has had his very own shoe since he started out in the league and this year, he recently got hooked up with his 14th model, the Nike KD 14. Some dope colorways have been shown off thus far and this week, we got to see another one hit the internet.

This new model is called “Deep Royal” and it is easily the most colorful model of the KD 14 to date. The entire upper has this psychedelic vibe to it and the colors merge together in a really chaotic way that makes the shoe so unique. With outdoor parks courts in full swing right now, these are definitely going to help make a statement and if you need some new shoes to ball in, you have to consider these.

For now, there is no release date attached to these so keep it locked to HNHH as we will be sure to bring you all of the latest information. In the meantime, let us know what you think about this new colorway, in the comments below.

Trippie Redd & Playboi Carti Fans Wish Mario Judah Was Also On “Miss The Rage”

Mario Judah spent weeks emulating Playboi Carti’s entire style, pressuring the rapper to release his album Whole Lotta Red in November and December. When the “Magnolia” artist was nowhere to be found, the up-and-coming self-proclaimed rock star took matters into his own hands and released a four-track project in Carti’s style. At the time, many believed that Mario Judah did Carti better than Carti himself. Then, the actual Whole Lotta Red dropped and people kind of forgot about Mario… until today.

One of the tracks that Mario Judah teased while he was harassing Playboi Carti was “Miss The Rage,” one of Carti’s most heavily previewed records with Trippie Redd. The beat had already gone viral on social media and it was only a matter of time before Carti and Trippie cleared everything for the release. On Friday, they came through with the highly-anticipated drop. However, a good number of fans think that Mario Judah earned a spot on the song, only to be left off entirely.

“The Mario Judah miss the rage hook was actually amazing kinda sad that didn’t make it,” wrote Quadeca on Twitter. Many others have echoed that same sentiment, wondering why he wasn’t added to the song after he showed that he could spice it up. “i think we all can agree miss the rage wouldve been a classic with mario judah,” added a fan in another tweet.

The “Die Very Rough” artist got the trend started by telling his fans this morning, “Good Morning Ragers.” Five weeks ago, Mario Judah posted about the leaked version of the song with his vocals, to which Trippie Redd said, “How they leak a song u not on.”

Do you think the song would have been better with Mario Judah? Let us know in the comments and check out what everyone else is saying below.
