Missy Elliott Holds It Down For Her Assistant With Heartwarming Gift

As a genuine legend in the game, it sometimes feels as if Missy Elliott doesn’t get the credit she deserves. Not only has she amassed a solid collection of classic tracks and albums, but she’s also carried herself with integrity and consistently led by example. To this day, Missy remains a positive role model to her fans, and once again she’s come through to hold it down with a heartwarming gesture for her assistant.

“My assistant thought she was opening my box of record plaques to hang up but it wasn’t,” tweeted Missy, alongside a feel-good video clip. “Long story short she lost her mom a few years ago & her son had no pictures with his grandma at this age so I gave her this oil painting simply because She’s AMAZING.”

In the clip, Missy’s assistant can be seen unwrapping the cardboard box, unaware of what’s inside. Upon seeing the oil painting of her late mother and young son together — the first and only picture they have together — her stunned reaction speaks volumes. “This is so thoughtful,” she says, marveling at the level of detail in the painting, from the glasses to her mother’s hair. Before long, her assistant’s emotions reach an apex, especially once she realizes she can hang it up in her new house.

It’s a genuine feel-good moment and one that further solidifies Missy Elliott’s legendary status — not only as a musician but as a human being. Check out the heartwarming clip, and show some love to Missy in the comments below.

El Chapo’s Wife Expected To Plead Guilty To Helping Run Drug Empire: Report

Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera has been behind bars in the United States since 2019 after being extradited and charged in connection with all the crimes he committed while running the Sinaloa drug cartel. Now, his wife Emma Coronel Aispuro, is expected to plead guilty to charges of helping aid her husband in running the enormous drug empire.

The New York Times reports that the US-born beauty queen will appear in front of a Federal District Court Judge in Washington this Thursday (June 10) to enter the guilty plea.

Aispuro is facing international drug trafficking charges for allegedly engaging in a conspiracy to distribute drugs like cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana in America. In addition, she’s accused of helping plot here El Chapo’s 2015 escape from a prison in Mexican, and helping plan a second one once he was recaptured in 2016. The publication further reports that a person close to the situation admits that the plea deal did not require her to flip on the allies, relatives nor business partners of her husband.

In return for pleading guilty to the charges, she will be marked as a “minimal participant” and thus receive a lighter sentence than the maximum of 10 years to life in prison for the original conspiracy charge.

Aispuro was arrested back in February on international drug trafficking charges at Virginia’s Dulles International Airport. Although her potential time behind bars has been significantly reduced, Aispuro is facing charges that carry a maximum life sentence.

Before her detainment, she had planned to be a reality TV star and launch an ‘El Chapo’ brand clothing line. Right now, it’s unclear whether or not she’ll join her husband at the highest-security prison in the country, the ADX federal prison, if she’s found guilty.

Diddy Doubles Down On His Three Kingdoms

Kings here, kings there, kings everywhere. It’s reached the point where artists have been stepping up to issue their royal claims, to the point where New York alone has already fielded dozens of aspiring rulers. Not long ago, Diddy — easily one of hip-hop’s biggest success stories — declared himself to be the king of New York, Miami, and L.A during a conversation with Quality Control’s P last week.

“We have a lot of kings, but P baby, we’re going to put some respect on that name,” explained Diddy, before turning to the camera. “Since I’m king of New York, Miami, and L.A, I come with greetings from the other empires. I pay respect to you.” Now, it would appear that Puff is doubling down on his claims, as evidenced by a recent video in which he issues a royal decree of sorts.

“I came to open the city back up,” he declares, in a video shared by Akademiks. “The city is officially back open! Says I, the king of New York, Miami, and L.A!” Given that Diddy has previously — at least, so the stories go — taken issue with rappers claiming dominion over outside turf, one has to wonder about his motivation in setting his sights beyond the Big Apple. To think, the “kingdom” of New York is already contested enough as it is, and it’s easy to imagine many hailing from both Miami and L.A displeased with Diddy’s overreach.

In truly kingly fashion, however, it’s unlikely Diddy will be concerned with the naysayers. Expect him to continue pushing this narrative until he meets resistance, if he even does. In the meantime, sound off in the comments — to those who hail from Miami and Los Angeles, would you pledge your allegiance to Love? If not, would you be prepared to meet him in open combat?

GoldLink Shares The Triumphant ‘White Walls’ From His Upcoming Album ‘Haram’

DMV rapper GoldLink returns this week with the lead single from his newly announced album Haram!, which is set for a June 18 release on Squaaash Club/RCA Records. The genre-mixing artist said of the new single “White Walls,” “It’s destructive, it’s ‘wrong,’ it sounds crazy + it’s a pop song. PLAY IT LOUD!” The visualizer for the song features drone shots of GoldLink in an abandoned-looking city, cut with infrared shots that look just like the Predator’s heat vision. This time around, GoldLink goes for a more bass-heavy sound, with a menacing 808 loop backing distorted vocals spitting boastful rhymes.

Haram! will be GoldLink’s first release since the acclaimed Diaspora, which came out in June 2019. It’s a 15-track album with features from Bibi Bourelly, Flo Milli, NLE Choppa, Rich The Kid, and Santigold, and was created as GoldLink lived in Amsterdam and London during the pandemic and its resulting rounds of quarantine. “White Walls” also contains a shot at Sheck Wes, who GoldLink previously called out on “Justine’s Interlude” after singer Justine Skye accused the “Mo Bamba” rapper of abuse.

GoldLink had a relatively quiet 2020 while creating this album, only poking his head out to share the funky “Sorrow, Tears, And Blood” with Dreamville singer Ari Lennox.

Listen to “White Walls” above. Haram! is due 6/18. Pre-save it here.

South Sudanese and Australian supermodel Duckie Thot is tired of the Kendall Jenner comparisons. After sharing a new picture online, people were quick to point out the similarities in their looks, comparing the two models in the comments. However, after catching onto them, Duckie quickly told fans that she’s not fond of the connection.

“lol y’all need to let this comparison go,” she wrote on Twitter.

Fans have connected the two since Duckie Thot initially rose to fame a few years ago. Alongside her sister Nikki Perkins, they were compared to Kendall and Kylie incessantly— enough so that some bloggers devoted entire posts to the talks. Duckie has a similar career to Kendall Jenner as both have walked in high-profile runway shows across North America, Europe, and around the world. If you’ve compared Duckie to Kendall in the past though, it’s time to stop.

Diddy Says French Montana Has The Song Of The Summer

Even though Suge Knight famously roasted him (and/or Jermaine Dupri) at the 1995 Source Awards for always dancing in his artists’ videos, Diddy has gone down as one of the best hypemen in Hip-Hop history. The legendary record producer, executive, and businessman has played a part in pushing countless hits, and now, Diddy has turned his sights to Bad Boy-affiliated artist French Montana, who apparently has an exciting new single on the way.

“We make hits. We been making hits all yall lives,” Diddy says in his Instagram PSA. “Your whole lives, ever since yall been born. Even before you were thought of, we been making hits. And we not gone stop this summer, alright?”

“Song of the summer,” Diddy concludes and immediately pressed play on French Montana’s forthcoming single. The song appears to be built around a familiar sample of the trumpets from Jerry Rivera’s “Amores Como El Nuestro,” which were also prominently featured on Shakira‘s 2006 hit “Hips Don’t Lie.” While the production gets the biggest look in Diddy’s Instagram teaser, viewers can hear a glimpse of French’s verse as he raps, “Uptown boys, nothing liver/Get the bag, then I wiggle like Wilder.”

French Montana‘s forthcoming single “FWMGAB” arrives on Friday, June 11. While we wait for the track to officially release, check out the snippet below and let us know if you think that French Montana has a banger on the way.
