Aaron Rodgers Speaks Passionately About Mental Health

Aaron Rodgers is back with the Packers after an extended holdout from the franchise in the offseason. Now, we are just a few weeks away from NFL action and Rodgers fully intends on playing for the team he has spent his whole career with. After this season, Rodgers’ contract stipulates that he can choose to leave the team if he wants and that the Packers will not argue if he demands a trade. Regardless, this season is going to be interesting for the Packers, especially as Rodgers looks to prove himself.

Over the past couple of weeks, Rodgers has spoken out about mental health and how it relates to his career. He even spoke passionately about the Simone Biles situation and how athletes just need to do what’s right for them, no matter the circumstances. In a report from Kevin Clark of The Ringer, Rodgers spoke about mental health and how every player can make a difference by speaking on these topics openly and freely.

“Well, we should keep talking about it,” Rodgers said. “Keep talking about ways that we individually deal with stress and deal with anxiety and deal with pressure and deal with depression or loneliness. I think that would really help. Because we, whether we like it or not, have a platform to influence people. And our words are often listened to more than the person who’s not in the public eye as much. So we have an opportunity—not an obligation, an opportunity—to maybe share some of our own ways of dealing with things and break some of the stigma around mental health.”

Mental health is especially important in football which is a sport that is oftentimes brutal on one’s psyche. Numerous players have succumbed to mental health-related problems, and it’s good to see such a massive star being an advocate for those who have suffered and are still suffering.

The fascinating story of Bumpy Johnson and his rise as a leading drug trafficker in America has been explored in-depth on Epix’s Godfather Of Harlem. The show’s been a success so far with the second half of the second season set to arrive in the near future. Aside from Forest Whittaker’s excellent portrayal of Johnson, it’s been the music that’s accompanied the show that’s received equally rave reviews. Swizz Beatz has been responsible for the soundtrack and this week, he pulled up with another new banger. This time, he locked in with BIA, who is fresh off of the success of the Nicki Minaj-assisted “Whole Lotta Money (Remix),” along with YG and Giggs for their brand new collaboration, “Waiting On Me.”

Check it out below.

Quotable Lyrics
Package, ship it, and put the money in the safe
If they kill me, fuck it, put the money in my grave
Hold it down, make sure the operation run the same
Just never mention the gang, gang, gang

Mally Mall Requests Postponed Prison Sentence Due To Health Concerns

Producer Mally Mall is scheduled to begin a 33-month prison sentence next week. However, he is now requesting that it be postponed in order to undergo a medical procedure.

Per TMZ, the producer’s legal team submitted a request to give him more time before relinquishing himself to the state as a new mass has been discovered on his thigh. Per documents, the mass will need to be removed. The procedure will reportedly require a full CT scan and biopsy in order to determine if it’s cancerous or not.

Currently, his date to surrender is August 13, but Mally Mall is requesting the date be pushed back to November 12.

In October of 2019, he pled guilty to charges stemming from a prostitution ring. The producer was accused of running the operation from 2002 to 2014 according to prosecutors who say that he owned and operated several unlicensed prostitution operations across Clark County, Nevada

His accusations also include soliciting women on platforms like Backpage while other women accused him of using fake shell companies to disguise his actual business in order to force them into prostitution.

While he is expected to serve his sentence in a medium-security prison, Mall has also requested that his date be postponed to seek redesignation to another facility.

Sixers Gunning For Damian Lillard Trade: Report

Damian Lillard is one of the best point guards in the world, and when it comes to his status with the Portland Trail Blazers, there are some people around the league who believe he could be out of town sooner rather than later. Of course, this is all conjecture at this point, especially when you consider how Lillard has reiterated time and time again that he is committed to Portland for the long haul.

The Blazers have failed to make big moves in the offseason, and there is growing concern that once Lillard comes back home from Tokyo, he will demand a trade due to his team’s inaction. According to Derek Bodner of The Athletic, the Philadelphia 76ers are taking a hard look at this situation, as they believe they might be able to get Lillard in a trade.

Per Bodner:

“Since the Sixers’ season ended the team has similarly kept a watchful eye on the status of Lillard in Portland. From the Sixers’ perspective, it would be fair to say the goal is less to trade Ben Simmons and more to acquire Damian Lillard.”

While the Sixers might be interested in making this deal, there is no denying that it will come at a cost. However, with Ben Simmons looking to leave Philly, the Sixers have a perfect piece to move over to Portland. Of course, with Simmons’ recent troubles in mind, it would probably take Simmons and a plethora of draft picks to attract Lillard over to the city of brotherly love.

Tony Baker’s Son Killed In Tragic Burbank Car Crash

Tony Baker is facing a devastating loss after a car accident claimed the life of his son and two of his son’s friends. The victims included Baker’s 21-year-old son Cerain, Jaiden Johnson, 20, and Natalee Moghaddam, 19.

The car crash took place on the night of Aug. 3rd. Cerain, along with two other passengers, were ejected from a silver Volkswagen after being hit by two other vehicles, a gray Kia and a black Mercedes Benz. According to the Burbank Police Department, the gray Kia and black Mercedes Benz appeared to be racing prior to colliding into the silver Volkswagen.

Upon The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroners office and Burbank PD’s investigation of the scene, the driver of the gray Kia “sustained serious injuries.” Meanwhile, the individuals in the black Mercedes Benz were unharmed.

NBC 4 Los Angeles caught up with Tony Baker and the rest of his family following the tragedy. The A Black Lady Sketch Show actor told the news outlet that Cerain’s death “feels like it’s not real.”

“We get waves of grief. We sob uncontrollably,” he continued to tell NBC 4. “Then it’s back to regular conversation.” Baker’s other son, Cencere, also weighed in on his brother’s untimely death. “Just a guy that everybody loved, so likable! I went to school with him, I’m just a year younger. You could tell how everyone liked him,” said Cencere.

Kanye West Removes “Nah Nah Nah” From DSPs Amid DaBaby Controversy

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of DONDA, Kanye West’s 10th studio album that’s been previewed twice during public listening parties in Atlanta. However, the album has yet to hit streaming services as the release date continuously gets pushed back. Some believe this could be a tactic used to rival Drake’s CLB which the Toronto rapper appears to still be working on. As it stands, it looks like Kanye could be delivering his next body of work on Aug. 15th, per Apple Music, but nothing is ever guaranteed with Yeezy.

Unfortunately, it seems like Kanye is moving backward in his approach to releasing music. Just as fans demand a new album, the rapper has apparently removed his 2020 single, “Nah Nah Nah” from streaming services. Fans quickly noted how the song is no longer available on DSPs like Apple Music and Tidal.

There hasn’t been any reason surrounding its removal from streaming platforms but the move does come in the midst of controversy surrounding DaBaby. A few weeks ago, the Charlotte rapper was performing at Rolling Loud when he made some unnecessarily inappropriate comments targeting HIV & AIDS patients, as well as the LGBTQ+ community. The rapper did apologize about a week later but by that point, a slew of festivals had already removed him from their line-ups.

Kanye’s likely been too busy working on DONDA to absorb the public’s reaction to DaBaby’s comments but ‘Ye has been incredibly vocal about his stance against homophobia in hip-hop over the course of his career. However, Kanye’s also a vocal opponent of cancel culture so it seems a little out of character that he would remove a whole song out of his streaming catalog over controversial comments.
