YNW Melly is currently trying to attempt to beat a potential death penalty. However, the parents of his victims have expressed disgust at his behavior in the courtroom. The rapper’s trial began earlier this week as he tries to prove his innocence in the murder of his two best friends, YNW Juvy and YNW Sakkchaser. The families of the victims attended the trial where they witnessed YNW Melly blow a kiss to the courtroom after praying. As the clip went viral, the mother of YNW Juvy, born Christopher Thomas Jr., shared that she walked out of the courtroom at that moment.
Leondra Phillips, Thomas Jr.’s mother, spoke to NBC 6 where she said Melly showed a lack of remorse in the courtroom when he began praying and later, blew a kiss. “He did it a couple of times.. that wasn’t his first time,” Phillips said. Describing his actions as “disrespectful,” she said that Melly’s actions caused her to leave the room. “I walked out,” she said. “What you praying for? You sitting there like you ain’t got no remorse. Like, every time I walk in, you smiling. This ain’t the same for that. This is sad, this case is serious.”

YNW Juvy’s Parents Speak Out

(@nojumper)Juvy’s father, Christopher Thomas Sr., also spoke out in a recent interview where he similarly criticized Melly’s body language throughout the trial. He explained that he began believing that Melly and YNW Bortlen were responsible for the murder of his son after speaking to them following Juvy’s death. “Because his explanation when I finally talked to him and [Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry] on FaceTime, their response and how they were acting—they didn’t show no remorse. They didn’t act like they was grieving or lost a friend,” he told Law & Crime Sidebar.
Thomas Sr. also shared some insight into the possible motive behind the alleged murders, claiming there was a $500K deal at stake. “Melly was gonna get $200,000, Sak was gonna get $200,000, and Chris was gonna get $100,000. And as I’m hearing it from Chris, they was gonna sell the YNW brand. Not a record deal or nothing like that. It was, like, for the brand itself,” he explained. “By them being founding members, they were gonna get a piece of the piece. I don’t think Melly did it on his own. I think that manager guy got in his ear and did a little divide-and-conquer.”
