BTB Savage Killer Held On $1 Million Bond

BTB Savage was tragically gunned down after a series of events that captured the internet. News outlets across the world reported on the demise of the young rapper who went viral shortly before his demise. Now, his killer has been brought to justice and more is being revealed about why he brazenly shot the upcoming artist.

Montrel Lenard Burly is now in the Harris County Jail, charged with the murder of BTB, whose real name is Darrell Gentry.  Authorities say the 40-year-old conducted a drive-by shooting near River Oaks on March 30th that claimed the 26-year-old’s life. At the time, police believed two men opened fire on BTB as he drove his white Mercedes. They fired multiple rounds at BTB before fleeing in a black Subaru SUV. The other man has not been identified.  Investigators strongly believe Burley is a close friend of Omar Richardson, a man killed by BTB’s girlfriend during a home invasion earlier this year.

BTB Savage Spoke About The Self-Defense Killing

BTB shook the internet when he returned to the scene of the home invasion and posted a video standing in the dried blood of Richardson. Days later, a Vlad TV interview aired where he detailed the deadly home invasion. During that chat, BTB admitted that he had not moved away from Houston. He also said he was certain the loved ones of Richardson would come after him. The young man told Vlad he was not fearful of people coming after him. In fact, he said he would get just as active as his adversaries. Sadly, just days later his words would prove true. Ironically, Burly was arrested the day after BTB’s death. Police pulled him over in the rented black rented 2020 Subaru Outback. Despite being charged with possession of narcotics, he was released after the stop.

Shortly after BTB’s killing, a man was seen on surveillance footage wiping down the Subaru. It’s unclear if that man was Burly or his accomplice. Burly was also a rapper and released a tribute record to Richardson after he was killed. Burly’s bond has been set at $1 million. Police have not released information regarding the other shooter.
