Eastside Golf, the lifestyle golf brand that is changing the cultural perception of the game, hosted its second annual Eastside Golf Invitational at Liberty National Golf Club on Monday, September 16th. The event brought together fans of the brand; celebrities including Anthony Andersen, Terrence Jenkins, CC Sabathia, Victor Cruz, Angie Martinez and the Morehouse College golf team to experience the game the Eastside Golf way – promoting authenticity, confidence and diversity – to showcase that golf is a game for everyone.

With “Return of the Mack”, “Bad Boys for Life” and “No Diggity” setting the vibe, 72 players teed off for the shamble format at one of the most scenic golf courses in America. Players were proudly decked out in Eastside Golf’s signature gear, including its newly-announced Nike footwear collaboration which attendees received before the shoes are on sale to the public later this fall.

On the course, players enjoyed special activations from Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop and MolsonCoors. D’USSÉ cognac was pouring its signature D’USSÉ Lemonade cocktail, featuring D’USSÉ VSOP Cognac and lemonade, on the second hole as well as throughout the evening’s festivities.

After players wrapped up 18 holes, the night kicked off with a surprise performance by rapper Fabolous who treated the crowd to a catalog of his hits including “You Be Killin Em” and “Make Me Better”.

The Eastside Golf Invitational set out to provide continued support to Morehouse College golf, and this year raised a significant financial contribution to support the team’s student athletes thanks to the event’s presenting sponsor Mercedes-Benz USA. Over the years, Eastside Golf has contributed nearly $300,000 to the Morehouse College golf team, the same institution where co-founders Olajuwon Ajanaku and Earl Cooper won a national title in 2010. The Invitational marks another milestone in the multi-year partnership between Eastside Golf and Mercedes-Benz USA to create and support activations to increase inclusivity in the game, and a mutual effort to support HBCU golf programs.

The second annual Eastside Golf Invitational capped off a blockbuster week and a half for Eastside Golf, which kicked off on September 4th with the announcement of its first footwear collaboration with Nike, and its first-ever retail experience with a pop-up at Shopify NY that ran from September 13 – 15th.

Judge Allows Sexual Misconduct Lawsuit Against Bill Cosby to Move Forward in Nevada

bill cosby

A federal judge in Las Vegas has ruled that a sexual misconduct lawsuit against Bill Cosby, filed by ten women, can proceed, marking a significant legal development in the ongoing allegations against the 87-year-old comedian. The lawsuit, initially brought last year, accuses Cosby of sexual misconduct, with the women alleging that he assaulted them over several decades.

The case gained traction following Nevada’s adoption of Senate Bill 129 in 2023, known as the Justice for Victims of Crime bill, which abolished the statute of limitations for civil claims brought by survivors of sexual violence. This legislative change allowed the group of women to file their lawsuit, which includes claims of sexual assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and false imprisonment.

The plaintiffs allege that between the early 1970s and the early 1990s, Cosby lured them into isolated environments, drugged or attempted to drug them, and then sexually assaulted them. These allegations mirror those made by other women across the country who have accused Cosby of similar crimes.

Cosby’s legal team moved to have the case dismissed on both procedural and substantive grounds. While U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro dismissed the specific sexual assault claims, citing that sexual assault is a crime rather than a state tort, she allowed the majority of the lawsuit to move forward. Judge Navarro sided with the plaintiffs on nearly all legal arguments, leaving intact claims such as battery, emotional distress, and false imprisonment.

This ruling comes at a time when Cosby continues to face legal battles over sexual misconduct allegations, despite his 2021 release from prison after his Pennsylvania conviction was overturned on procedural grounds. The Nevada lawsuit represents a new chapter in the legal fight against the disgraced entertainer, made possible by the state’s recent legislative changes aimed at providing justice to survivors of sexual violence.

With the case now cleared to proceed, Cosby faces yet another courtroom battle, and the plaintiffs will have the opportunity to pursue their claims in court.

Nicki Minaj and Husband Kenneth Petty Face Legal Action Over Unpaid $500K Judgment to German Security Guard

plea deal Nicki Minaj Kenneth Petty LA

Rapper Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, are facing escalating legal trouble after refusing to pay a $500,000 judgment awarded to a German security guard who claims Petty assaulted him backstage at one of Minaj’s concerts. The incident, which occurred in 2019 during Minaj’s show in Frankfurt, Germany, has now led the victim, Thomas Weidenmuller, to take legal steps to enforce the payment.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Weidenmuller filed a memo of costs after judgment and a writ of execution against Minaj and Petty earlier this month. The writ, submitted on September 6 and 13, demands $526,110.74, which includes the original judgment plus interest and legal fees.

Weidenmuller, who was allegedly sucker-punched by Petty backstage, is seeking to enforce the judgment through the writ of execution, which would allow law enforcement to seize and sell Minaj and Petty’s non-exempt property in order to cover the debt. This legal measure is typically used when defendants fail to pay a court-ordered sum, giving plaintiffs the right to recover the owed amount through the sale of assets.

The altercation in question dates back to March when a court ordered Minaj and Petty to pay $500,000 in damages after the assault. Despite the ruling, the couple has reportedly refused to pay, prompting Weidenmuller’s latest legal actions.

As of now, Minaj’s legal team has not responded to requests for comment, and it remains unclear how the couple plans to handle the enforcement of the judgment. If they continue to refuse payment, the court could authorize law enforcement to move forward with asset seizure to satisfy the debt.

Diddy’s $100 Million Sexual Assault Lawsuit Judgement Was Set Aside, But He’s Not Out Of The Woods

Amid everything else going on with Diddy right now, earlier this month, he was ordered to pay $100 million to Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith over an alleged 1997 sexual assault, per USA Today. Cardello-Smith filed a civil lawsuit against Diddy in June and was granted the award in a default judgement, as Diddy didn’t make any filings in the suit.

At the time, though, Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo wrote in a statement, “This man is a convicted felon and sexual predator, who has been sentenced on 14 counts of sexual assault and kidnapping over the last 26 years. His resume now includes committing a fraud on the court from prison, as Mr. Combs has never heard of him let alone been served with any lawsuit. Mr. Combs looks forward to having this judgment swiftly dismissed.”

Now, the case has swung in Diddy’s favor.

TMZ reports the default judgement has been set aside, on the grounds that Cardello-Smith apparently didn’t sufficiently proved he effectively served the lawsuit to Diddy per Michigan law.

Judge Anna Marie Anzalone also removed the temporary restraining order the prevented Diddy from selling assets to cover damages, and noting there’s a likelihood Diddy wins the case due to the statute of limitations, given that Cardello’s Smiths claims date back to 1997.
