Ye and Ty Dolla $ign Announce New Listening Party In Pittsburgh
Fans of Ye and Ty Dolla $ign who haven’t gotten to see their their new live experience built around their collaborative album VULTURES 1 just got another chance. The pair just announced yet another listening experience, of the kind that have been controversial in the past few months. The next one will take place on April 9 at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The special part of this announcement is that the currently unreleased VULTURES 2 is also included in the listening party.
While the album was originally supposed to be released in March, it hasn’t arrived yet. Rumors have swirled about potential release dates as collaborators have shared updates to social media showing that the pair are still hard at work on the album. With the PPG Paints Arena promising a listening experience for VULTURES 1 & 2 taking place in just a few weeks it has fans speculating on a release date even more. Beyoncé has officially released her eighth studio album, COWBOY CARTER. It is the second installment of a three-act trilogy following 2022’s Renaissance. COWBOY CARTER sees Beyoncé fully diving into the realm of country, tapping into her Texan roots. Prior to her latest release, she first ventured into the genre on “Daddy Lessons” from 2016’s Lemonade. The latest album’s lead singles “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and “16 CARRIAGES” appear on the new 27-track album, of which Beyoncé handles the majority herself. There are, however, numerous guest appearances that contribute vocals throughout the tracklist. As we begin to digest her latest album, we are ranking Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER features from least to greatest. This list excludes those who speak on the interludes, such as Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Linda Martell, and Rumi Carter. Take a look at the list below.
5. “SPAGHETTII” & “SWEET ★ HONEY ★ BUCKIIN’” – Shaboozey
Featured on both “SPAGHETTII” and “SWEET ★ HONEY ★ BUCKIIN’” is hip hop and country artist Shaboozey. “SPAGHETTII” is easily the most rap-oriented song on the album, and Shaboozey assists Beyoncé in bridging the the two genres. However, his overall performance is nothing outstanding compared to other COWBOY CARTER guest features. The same can be said about Shaboozey’s appearance on “SWEET ★ HONEY ★ BUCKIIN’.” He lends his vocals to the first part of the song, which fuses country and Jersey club. Shaboozey’s guest features ensure vocal variety on the 27-track album, but they are not memorable in the grand scheme of the tracklist.
4. “BLACKBIIRD” – Tanner Adell, Brittany Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, & Reyna Roberts
COWBOY CARTER’s second song is one of a few different Beyoncé covers. She reimagines The Beatles’ “Blackbird,” enlisting Tanner Adell, Brittany Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, and Reyna Roberts as features on the song. The up-and-coming country artists get a moment to shine, especially Adell. Due to the song being a cover and its short runtime, the artists’ feature feels more like a brief solo than a complete collaboration. Their appearances may be short, but being a featured artist on a Beyoncé album is the ultimate cosign.
3. “LEVII’S JEANS” – Post Malone
Post Malone’s surprise feature on COWBOY CARTER is one of the album’s best collaborations. On “LEVII’S JEANS,” his voice sounds very comfortable over the mid-tempo guitar strumming. He also pushes himself vocally, which is a necessity for those who sing alongside Beyoncé. The collaboration feels very natural and works for both of their musical styles. With the two being in completely different artistic places earlier in their careers, now was the perfect moment for Post Malone and Beyoncé to sing together.
2. “JUST FOR FUN” – Willie Jones
Willie Jones’s feature on “JUST FOR FUN” might be brief, but he leaves quite the impression. An instant standout on COWBOY CARTER, his feature is its very own moment, especially when he and Beyoncé sing together. Their voices complement each other nicely, with the bass of Jones’s voice coinciding with Beyoncé’s deeper register. Willie Jones does not overstay his welcome on “JUST FOR FUN,” but his presence certainly enhances the track.
1. “II MOST WANTED” – Miley Cyrus
Easily the standout COWBOY CARTER feature is on “II MOST WANTED,” a beautiful duet between Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus. Over the course of her career, Cyrus has shown that country is her true calling, which “II MOST WANTED” reinforces. It is the style of music over which she sounds most comfortable and is able to showcase her vocal ability. Beyoncé’s smooth and overpowering voice, combined with Miley’s gentle and gruff tone, blend seamlessly as they sing with one another. While Beyoncé’s voice tends to vocally outshine anyone, their voices come together in country music. Miley Cyrus’s feature on “II MOST WANTED” is undoubtedly the most memorable and impressive feature on COWBOY CARTER. It feels like a true collaboration more than any other guest appearance.

Big Sean recently took his behind-the-mic talent to NPR’s famous Tiny Desk for a 25-minute-long performance that scans memories from his entire catalog. Despite the rapper catching some bad press in recent years for feuding with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West, Sean is definitely overdue to receive his flowers, with many fans taking to the comments section on the YouTube video to express support for the Detroit MC. With 14 tracks dating back nearly two decades, there’s plenty of material to reflect on during Big Sean’s Tiny Desk performance. Let’s take a moment to examine the event and review the material therein.
Big Sean’s Energy Is Radiant During The Live Performance
Like many rappers who have showcased their talent in the NPR offices, Big Sean brought a full band to the Tiny Desk performance, complete with angelic backup vocalists, a drummer, and full keyboard and string sections. In wide shots, it appears as though Sean is flanked by a full dozen collaborators, who bring his music to life with a powerful aura. Likewise, Big Sean is clearly in his element during the performance, with his melodic vocal passages sailing through the room much smoother than in previous outings.
Between tracks, Sean counts his blessings, offering fans a look into the highs and lows of his career. After a lively and soulful performance of the 2013 track “Nothing Is Stopping You,” Sean breaks from rapping to explain, “That was the intro on my second album, and I remember it was a stressful time for me because when my second album dropped it didn’t do as well as my first album… And then I was able to lock in and make my third album… which was one of my biggest albums.” Throughout the show, Big Sean praises god, smiles from ear to ear, and provides listeners with positive affirmations.
The Performance Elevates Sean’s Material
Fans of Big Sean will surely appreciate his Tiny Desk performance, as it takes some of the rapper’s more lackluster tracks and breathes new life into them with live instrumentation and renewed passion. Sean even recognizes the roots of the songs by shouting out the original producers, even offering his own “If young Metro don’t trust you I’m gon’ shoot you” just before launching into the opening verse of “Bounce Back.” Even those who don’t typically enjoy Big Sean’s music should give this performance a shot, as it might just turn haters into fans and fans turn into super-fans. The lively response of the NPR office staff, who break into massive applause multiple times throughout the Tiny Desk show, further demonstrates this.
Sean’s transitions belong in the hall of fame, seamlessly blending tracks from 2011 with tracks from 2018 as though they came off the same project. The best thing Big Sean could do following this Tiny Desk show is find a way to port these live performances onto streaming platforms immediately. Sean has a new album poised to drop sometime this year. If performances like this are any indication of what we can expect from the new project, it may be some of his finest work yet.
