Chris Brown Shuts Down Michael Jackson Comparisons: “He’s Lightyears Ahead”

While the internet continues to debate if R&B star Chris Brown is better than the late Michael Jackson, Breezy himself has addressed the topic during his appearance on Big Boy’s Neighborhood earlier this week.

“You getting a lot of people, man – and you’ve always given it to Michael Jackson – but now you’re getting people where they say, man, ‘Chris is better than,'” the host began before asking the “With You” singer what he thinks about all the online discourse.

“That’s cap!” Brown said, without hesitation. “I’m glad you said that,” Big Boy replied. “Because I don’t consider myself better than Michael Jackson, and you already know when it comes to dancing and things of that nature… If I’m not better than Michael, how can Chris Brown be better than Michael?” he joked.

When the host pressed the singer to tell him how he deals with the pressure of such comparisons, the father of three said, “I stay the hell up out of it, you know?”

“My personal take on it is that I wouldn’t be breathing or be able to sing a song if that man didn’t exist,” Brown shared. “I don’t know if they look at it as a [Michael] Jordan and Kobe [Bryant] thing, but I can’t even look at it. He’s lightyears ahead.”

The Virginia native declared of Jackson, “There is no competing with him!”

Elsewhere in his interview with Big Boy, Brown revealed that he recorded over 200 songs for his soon-to-be-released Breezy album, though the tracklist was whittled down to just 23 titles.

FKA Twigs & Jorja Smith Realize They’re Cousins After Collaborating Together

FKA Twigs and Jorja Smith have only recently learned that they’re cousins, despite collaborating on Twigs’ latest mixtape Caprisongs, for the track, “Darjeeling.” Twigs explained how they came to the realization during a new interview with GQ published on Monday.

“I’d never met her before, and I jumped in her car with her… and I remember thinking to myself, ‘Gosh, that’s really strange: we’ve got exactly the same kind of skin,'” Twigs explained to the outlet. “A few months later, I was on the road to go to LA and [Smith] left me a voice note saying, ‘You’re never going to believe this, but I’ve just spoken to my dad and he’s spoken to his sister and we’re related.’”

Twigs says she even considered asking Smith what color of foundation she uses because of the similarity.

While both English, Twigs was raised in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, while Jorja originates from Walsall, West Midlands.

Twigs also discussed Caprisongs and explained that she felt as if she had reached a new level with the project.

“I didn’t feel trapped, I felt like I was just being myself,” she says of her previous work. “But I guess I just unlocked a new door, like a video game. It’s not even like I broke out. I think I just unlocked another level. It’s so good.”

In addition to Smith, Caprisongs features appearances from Pa Salieu, the Weeknd, Shygirl, Dystopia, Rema, Daniel Caesar, and Unknown T.

Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wade Step Out In Style With Mesh Outfits At Prada Runway

All eyes were on Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union at Prada’s Milan Fashion Week runway. The superstar couple jetted over to Italy to attend the label’s Spring 2023 men’s show, and wore coordinated ensembles to do so.

For her part, the Bring It On actress went braless under a $2,250 Prada tank dress in a tan colour, complete with a dramatic fringe at the bottom. On her feet, she wore black strappy heels, keeping her accessories minimal with a black and tan Prada bag, and gold earrings. Union’s long black hair was slicked into a sophisticated ponytail, and her face was expertly glammed for the event.

Her husband, Wade, paired his yellow mesh tank from the Italian fashion house ($1,370) with M.C. Hammer-style black pants and crisp white sneakers, adding a few chains around his neck.

As Page Six notes, the mother of one spotted an even more revealing outfit during other Milan escapades earlier this week. On June 17th she shared an Instagram Reel to the Extended Remix of Russ’ “HANDSOMER” featuring Ktlyn during which she showed off her sheer Sportmax dress.

At first, the camera caught Union dancing around but eventually, she flipped up the skirt of her outfit to tease some of her behind, also revealing the high-waisted, retro-style bottoms underneath to help keep her modest.

Chris Brown Responds to Michael Jackson Comparisons

Chris Brown is calling cap on the Michael Jackson comparisons.

For years, the internet has tried to compare the talents of the two superstars, with some even suggesting that Chris is better than the King of Pop.

But while some fans may argue otherwise, Chris is shutting down the comparisons. “That’s cap,” he immediately responded when Big Boy brought up the topic during an interview to promote his new album Breezy.

When asked how he deals with the conversations, he responded, “I stay the hell up out of it. I’ma keep it a hundred. I kinda back off it.”

He gave props to his idol for inspiring him and said he will never be able to compete. “My personal take on it is I wouldn’t even be breathing or even be able to sing a song if that man didn’t exist,” he said. “I don’t know if they look at it as a Jordan-Kobe thing, but I couldn’t even look at it. He’s light years ahead. There is no competing with him.”

Chris revealed that he has “shrines of this man hanging up in my house,” adding, “Hell no, I ain’t better than him.”

The CB-MJ debate was recently reignited following a viral tweet from Ryan Clark. “Chris Brown is more talented than Michael Jackson… there I said it! Have a great week,” tweeted the former NFL star before social media weighed in on the controversial statement.

This is not the first time Chris has drawn comparisons to his idol. In 2019, 50 Cent declared CB “better than MJ.”

Justin Bieber has also celebrated his “Don’t Check On Me” collaborator, likening Brown to a combination of Jackson and Tupac Shakur. “Everyone wants to wait til people die To give them the credit they deserve,” said Bieber. “I’m calling it now when CB passes away after a long full life, you will miss what you had in front of you the whole time … trust me watch you will see.”

During the Big Boy interview, Chris once again weighed in on a potential Verzuz. In the past, he said that he was only interested in battling himself, however, that may have changed.

“I’ma keep it a hundred. I’ve been talking to the people so we might figure something out but I ain’t gon’ say nothing yet,” he teased.
