Kehlani & Blxst’s Voices Blend Beautifully On New R&B Song, “any given sunday”

Have you taken a trip down Kehlani’s blue water road yet? On Friday, April 29th, the 27-year-old shared their 13-track project, which boasts features from names like Justin Bieber, Syd, Thundercat, and Ambrè.

Following the arrival of his own debut album, Before You Go, ‘lani tapped Blxst to appear on the album’s second title, “any given sunday,” which finds them trading verses about throwing dollar bills at the booty club.

“Are you workin’, baby? / Are you workin’ tonight? / ‘Cause I got a brand new bag, oh yeah / I just touched down in Miami, babe (Are you workin’ tonight?) / Make it rain on your stage any given Sunday,” both stars sing on the chorus.

Yesterday, we shared another standout from Kehlani’s new body of work – “more than i should” featuring Canada’s own Jessie Reyez. If you’ve already heard that, and are in the mood for more R&B bops, look out for our weekly playlist update arriving later this afternoon.

Stream “any given sunday” on Spotify, Apple Music, or Soundcloud below, and share your thoughts in the comment section.

Quotable Lyrics:

I’m throwin’ a paper tantrum at the club (Are you workin’ tonight?)
Make it rain on your stage any given Sunday
This shit is presidential, got you stimulated (Ooh)
To you, I’m more than famous (Ooh, ooh)

Ben Simmons Doesn’t Seem To Care About Basketball

When Ben Simmons was selected first overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2016, there was this hope that he and Joel Embiid could save the franchise from irrelevance. Simmons was part of the rebuild that is now fondly remembered as “The Process.” At 6-11 and 240 pounds, Simmons was touted as a large point guard who could command an offense, all while eating the paint next to a big like Embiid. Unfortunately, his tenure in Philadelphia got off to a rocky start as he missed the entirety of his rookie season with a foot injury.

To be fair to Simmons, this is an issue that has plagued various rookies before him. Injuries happen, and you can’t really fault a player for taking the necessary precautions, especially at a young age. Besides, once Simmons returned for his true rookie season in 2017-18, he was able to impress fans with his dominant play on the court. He averaged 16-8-8, all while winning Rookie Of The Year honors. It was a very successful season for the Australian, and it seemed like things could only get better from there.

If you’re an NBA fan, then you know that Simmons was heavily criticized during this time for not having a jump shot or a three-point shot. Point guards are typically very good shooters compared to the rest of their teammates, and Simmons was never that guy. After every Sixers’ loss, pundits would point to Simmons’ shooting issues and say “once Simmons gets a jumper, it’s over for the rest of the league.” Some people would even compare Simmons to LeBron James, noting that the point guard had all of the same skills as LeBron and that the only thing he was missing from becoming the best player on earth was a reasonable shooting percentage.

Hindsight being 20/20, these were absolutely ridiculous claims. However, at the time, they seemed somewhat accurate. The Sixers were consistently finishing at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, and Simmons was improving his numbers year over year. As many of you know already, however, that jump shot never came. Every single summer, someone on Simmons’ team would post some propaganda to Twitter claiming that Simmons has been in the lab and that now, his shot is better than ever. By propaganda, of course, we mean those useless videos of Simmons draining threes in the face of dudes who play rec league basketball at the YMCA. These videos continuously tricked fans into thinking Simmons had improved, only for him to still be a fraud behind the three-point line.

With that being said, it seemed like every single year was the same exact story with Simmons. His lack of improvement on the shooting front had fans very concerned, and it all came to a boil last season in the NBA playoffs when Simmons was downright awful against the Atlanta Hawks. Throughout the series, Simmons refused to shoot the basketball and completely crumbled under the pressure. At times, it seemed like he didn’t even care, and when he passed up an open dunk for a pass into a crowded lane, it was like a lightbulb had gone off in our collective heads, cluing us into the fact that Simmons is completely lost on the court. It was almost as if Simmons had lost his basketball powers at the hands of the Monstars. His downfall was downright sad to watch and it was made infinitely worse once the Sixers were eliminated from the playoffs.

From here on out, Simmons began to show fans that he doesn’t necessarily care about basketball, but rather, the lifestyle that comes with it. First of all, go to his Basketball-Reference page right now and you will see that one of his nicknames is “Young Socialite.” Considering he has dated the likes of Kendall Jenner and now Maya Jama, it’s an appropriate nickname to carry around. More concretely, however, Simmons simply stopped playing basketball despite all of the chances in the world to do so. Simmons could have easily taken the summer off to rebuild his confidence and prove people wrong, just like all of the great athletes do. Instead, he decided to lead the Sixers on a wild goose chase that eventually ended in him sitting out for the entire season. Simmons refused to play a single game for the Sixers, and there was even a time when he wouldn’t report to training camp or practice. This resulted in numerous fines as the Sixers fought to suppress his salary. Eventually, Simmons came out and stated that he was having mental health problems and that’s why he was taking time away from the team. Klutch Sports even got involved as the Sixers demanded Simmons to see the team’s mental health professional. Had Simmons not done so, he wouldn’t have gotten a single dollar from the Sixers.

Throughout this entire process, Simmons was angling for a trade and shockingly, he got just that at the deadline as the Brooklyn Nets sent James Harden to Philly in exchange for Simmons, Seth Curry, and Andre Drummond. It was supposed to be a good deal for both sides, however, it has been anything but. As soon as Simmons arrived in Brooklyn, he began making excuse after excuse. Prior to the playoffs, Simmons told the team he had a back injury and that he couldn’t play. This followed him until Game 4 of the playoffs when Simmons said he would finally be able to return. What did Simmons do once game day arrived? He found a way to get out of playing. He told the team his back problems had gotten bad again, and he was able to escape a game in which the Nets got eliminated from the playoffs.

Simmons does not appear to be a player who particularly cares about playing basketball. To some, this may be an extremely unfair statement to make. As I stated earlier, injuries do happen. In the case of Simmons, it is hard to truly give him the benefit of the doubt. From the start of his career, he has refused to improve the areas of his game that require the most work, and throughout this past year, he has shown a complete unwillingness to play the game of basketball. He has been given chance after chance to prove himself, and he just can’t bring himself to do it. Despite all of this, he is still collecting his paycheck.

Next year, Simmons needs to return to the court. By that point, the excuses will have completely run out and if he pulls half the stunts he pulled this season, then it is safe to say the Nets should pull the plug. Unless Simmons can get back to being an all-star, the Nets should spend their money somewhere else.

Rihanna Spotted Backstage During A$AP Rocky’s West Hollywood Smokers Club Festival Set

After being hit with a few speedbumps, A$AP Rocky and Rihanna appear to be back to business as usual. On Saturday night, the New York-born rapper was performing in West Hollywood at the Smokers Club Festival, and while his girlfriend didn’t join him on stage, she was spotted showing her support from behind the curtain.

As TMZ reports, the expecting parents appear to be putting on a united front ahead of their first child’s arrival. They looked to be on cloud nine with Rih landing on the cover of American Vogue and constantly being the best-dressed woman everywhere she went, despite the extra passenger in her belly, but hateful gossip sent the couple tumbling down last month.

First, it was rumoured that Rocky was caught fooling around with shoe designer Amina Muaddi, although multiple direct sources have shut those allegations down. Once they made it through the cheating storm, though, they weren’t entirely home free.

Upon returning from a baecation in Barbados, Rihanna and her man ran into police officers waiting for them at LAX, who promptly arrested the “Changes” rapper for his apparent involvement in a November 2021 shooting.

After searching his house, LAPD found multiple guns, although it’s been said that none of them was the one used in last year’s incident.

While A$AP waits to find out what the District Attorney’s plans are for the case, Rih is gearing up to give birth over the next few weeks; seeing as she’s been frequently spotted looking at girl clothes, many are speculating that she’ll have a mini-me on her hands, but time will tell.

Kaash Paige Drops Catchy R&B Single “Girlfriend”

Kaash Paige, born D’Kyla Paige Woolen, is a singer and songwriter from Dallas, Texas. The 21-year-old gets praise for her R&B-styled music. Most of her songs are about relationships and love, and she uses her tuneful voice to sing on any type of beat.

She dropped her newest single “Girlfriend” on April 29. This is her first solo record since 2021 when she released “Bad Girl.” The track is nearly three minutes long and features a melodious rhythm which Kaash sings over in a high-pitched voice.

In the song, the artist talks about why she’s not ready for a relationship, and shouldn’t get into one. She sings in her catchy hook, “Say you wanna be my girlfriend, my girlfriend. Don’t fall in love with a b*tch like me.” She also references how she’s not used to people staying around for too long. “She just wanna get high. I’m so used to goodbyes. Don’t like spending no time,” the songstress adds.

The Roc Nation artist also has visuals for the record. In the video, she is seen portraying a relationship with multiple different women, then partying with a group of people. This insinuates that she’s not ready to be tied down, and she’s just trying to live life.

Stream her newest single on Apple Music or Spotify below, and check out the visuals as well.

DaBaby Responds To Felony Assault Charges; Shares Racist Video Of Victim

No matter how much trouble DaBaby gets into, he always has proof to back up his actions.

On Saturday (April 30), it was reported that the rapper and his entourage assaulted a man by the name of Gary Pagar. Pagar allowed the crew to rent out his property in Los Angeles but had specific rules for them to abide by– which he claimed they did not. He was told they were using the luxurious home for vacation. However, it turned out that they were shooting a music video.

In addition to that, DaBaby’s crew signed an agreement that stated only 12 people could be present at a time. Pagar professed that there were nearly 40 individuals in attendance.

He then tried to take matters into his own hands and get everyone to leave. It was then, that video footage captured him being assaulted by one of Baby’s friends. The victim also claimed that DaBaby– born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk– punched him in the face causing his tooth to fall out. The North Carolina native was sued for felony battery.

But of course, he wasn’t going to let the media frame him so easily. The Baby on Baby artist took to social media to expose Pagar in a TikTok video. The 40-second clip started by saying, “On today’s episode of ‘Let’s make DaBaby look like a bad person.” The video showed the property manager shouting and using racial slurs. It also accused him of being a white supremacist who lied to TMZ and the LAPD.

Pagar can be heard and seen yelling, “You f*cking n****rs. F*cking a**holes… I’m telling you how I feel.” Further into the TikTok, DaBaby claimed that Pagar also spit in his face.

Along with the video, DaBaby provided a caption that stated, “Y’all keep believing these Hollywood hustlers. Y’all might as well get a rope help em hang our black ass on a tree!”

Tory Lanez & Rick Ross Link Up, Canadian Is Gifted A Smart Car From Rozay

Rick Ross is a man of his word. Several years ago the “Purple Lamborghini” rapper promised his Canadian friend Tory Lanez that he’d get him a Smart car, and from the looks of his Instagram Story, he finally came through.

In one of my many posts uploaded to Rozay’s page, he can be seen with the “Freaky” hitmaker, cheersing big bottles of liquor as they share smiles and celebrate together. “Word to the Bel-Aire,” Lanez says to the camera.

“We finally got the Smart car, it’s just been imported baby,” he added, getting a giggle out of Ross and some other friends. “Hey, y’all already know what it is,” the Mississippi-born entertainer added. “Glad to see little bro, y’all see what it is. Let’s keep shining!”

On another slide, the father of four tagged @officialbelaire, @wingstop, and @smartcarusa, telling his followers, “Aye, I just bought a car for Tory Lanez. I got a gift for your album release homie, that’s you” while panning up from his property to show off the small white whip.

“Heard your shits went double acrylic on Dat Piff,” he added.

After the footage made its way onto @theshaderoom’s IG page, the Biggest Boss dropped by the comments to let fans know the Smart car will be included at his upcoming car show, which he’s also recently purchased a tank and a fire truck for, not to mention his already stellar collection of over 100 vehicles.

“IT’LL BE AT MY CAR SHOW IN @torylanez SECTION LOL @rickrosscarshow MAY 21ST,” Ross promoted his project – check out more of his cars here, and tap back in with HNHH later for more celebrity news updates.
