CJ McCollum Comments On New Job With ESPN

CJ McCollum was traded from the Portland Trail Blazers to the New Orleans Pelicans this season and it turned out to be a huge move for the Pels who came very close to defeating the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the NBA playoffs. With McCollum on the roster, the Pelicans have the potential to be a good team for a very long time, and it seems like the star is already looking beyond the court.

Just like so many other NBA stars before him, McCollum is looking to enter the broadcasting world. In fact, today it was announced that he would join ESPN for the NBA Finals and he would even be a part of the network’s team throughout the 2022-23 season. He will be creating a podcast for the network and his expertise will be a huge part of the league’s coverage.

“To have an opportunity to put my journalism background to use on the largest stage with the many talented professionals at ESPN is a dream come true,” McCollum said in a statement. Needless to say, this is a role that McCollum was made for.

Broadcasting is a perfect way for players to transition out of playing, although more and more stars are doing it while they’re still playing. Draymond Green created the blueprint, and now, McCollum is continuing to execute.

Lil Uzi Vert On Jack Harlow’s Success: “He Doesn’t Have White Privilege”

Jack Harlow is on top of the world right now. Just a few weeks removed from his latest album, Come Home The Kids Miss You, he really became an undeniable force in pop culture. Though the album’s received its fair share of criticism, it’s pretty evident that there are a handful of singles that are still in heavy rotation. Still, many have claimed that Jack’s success largely relates to the fact that he’s white.

It doesn’t seem like Lil Uzi Vert feels that’s the case The Philadelphia rapper recently caught up with TMZ where he offered his praise for Young Harleezy. He said that Jack Harlow doesn’t deserve the hate he’s getting, calling the Louisville artist “very good.” That’s when he was asked about whether Jack’s skin tone actually plays a factor in how he’s received on a mainstream level.

“Nah, he doesn’t have white privilege,” Uzi said. “Nah, he’s signed to Black people.”

Perhaps, Uzi just isn’t familiar with the concept of white privilege but his attitude towards Jack Harlow has definitely changed over the years. After Jack signed to Generation Now in the midst of Uzi’s beef with the label, he labeled Jack a clown. However, it seems like the two have patched things up.

Check out Lil Uzi Vert’s interview below and let us know whether you agree with Uzi in the comments.

“You should say hello to a friend of mine by way of the music industry and by way of helping me, helping me to get a hold and ownership of my master recordings,” she said as she pointed to Chance. The Acid Rap artist stood up and shared his gratitude for the applause he received.

Later on, he praised Baker on Twitter for her influence and showmanship. “I saw one of THE greatest performances of my LIFETIME last night! Thank you so much @IAMANITABAKER for being an inspiration and an icon to so many of US,” he tweeted.

The two continued to trade tweets after Anita wrote, “Had no idea you would be in our Midst. Such a nice Surprise. Brought Tears, to my eyes. Hope Ms. Essence enjoyed her Birthday. ABX.”

Ms. Essence turns out to be a friend of Chance The Rapper but the fact that Anita Baker’s attention to detail was that close clearly meant the world to the Chicago rapper. “WOW the fact that you remembered my friends name AND that it was her birthday just echoes what an INCREDIBLE PERSON you are on top of all that you’ve given artistically. Honored and blessed to call you friend miss @IAMANITABAKER,” she wrote.

Jimmy Butler Has A Guarantee For Heat Fans

Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat lost in devastating fashion to the Boston Celtics on Sunday night. They were just a few points away from winning the game, and with Butler scoring 35 points, it’s clear that this loss is going to sting for a while. The Heat had a very good chance of winning the title this year, and now, they will have to wait for another opportunity to do so.

According to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, Butler is very adamant that this team will be back in the winner’s circle soon. In fact, Butler is guaranteeing that this team will run it back and eventually get things done, once and for all.

“I think we had enough – I think we do have enough,” Butler said. “It sucks because you don’t know who is going to be on the roster any given year, you know what I’m saying? We had enough. Next year, we will have enough and we’re going to be right back in the same situation, and we’re going to get it done.”

The Heat have a ton of great pieces and there is no doubt they will be contenders again next season. Whether or not they can win a chip with Butler as their number one option, remains to be seen.

A$AP Rocky Details Aspirations For His Son, Denies “All Smiles” As New Album Title

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna recently welcomed their first child together. While they haven’t revealed a name or shared any pictures, Rocky did recently give insight into how he wants to approach fatherhood during a recent interview with Dazed Magazine. The rapper explained that he wants teach his kids to hold onto their inner-child, even when they’re adults.

“I will always remind my children to never lose their imagination, even as adults, no matter what,” he told the mag. “I actually love to watch cartoons—I’ve watched like, TeletubbiesBlue’s CluesYo Gabba Gabba, Peppa Pig and Baby Shark. I hope to raise open-minded children. Not people who discriminate. And I’m not trying to describe a saint, but realistically, I just want a cool child with cool parents.”

He also offered insight into his next album, which won’t actually be titled, All Smiles. Despite an AWGE collaboration with Selfridges in 2019 that seemingly revealed the album’s title, he said that All Smiles was actually part of a whole other project he’s working on.

“One thing I can tell you is that the name isn’t gonna be All Smiles—you know, I never publicly said that my album was called All Smiles,” Rocky said. “That one is more of a concept project, it’s music and more. I’m wrapping up the new album now; I’ve been shooting so many visuals for it. I don’t want to be cliche or sound like a salesman, but I’ve pushed myself to the limit on everything. Going from that industrial, subversive sound from Testing and then graduating with a more polished sound…I just like where it is.”

We’ll keep you posted on more information on Rocky’s next album.
