Kehlani Calls Out Noel Gallagher For Saying Harry Styles Isn’t A “Real” Musician

There was a time in pop culture history when singing competitions ruled television and helped unknown acts become global superstars. Shows like American Idol, X Factor, America’s Got Talent and others have catapulted the careers of dozens of artists including Jennifer Hudson, Harry Styles, and Kehlani. While many shows are still running, the influence that they once had on the industry isn’t as strong as those days of yesteryear, but their singers who blossomed out of that era have apparently been criticized by Oasis icon, Noel Gallagher.

More specifically, during a recent interview, Gallagher had some pointed comments about Styles who became an international phenomenon after his boy band, One Direction, was a hit on X Factor. Gallagher suggested that Styles isn’t a “real” musician who is writing his own tunes, and it is a criticism that didn’t sit well with Kehlani.

“That person – whoever that is – can kiss my ass,” Kehlani reportedly told NME. “They might as well call me inauthentic and I’m about as authentic as it gets. [Styles] worked his ass off to make people fall in love with him on national TV and be lumped in with a group of boys and still had to stand out from an entire group of people. That’s as authentic as it gets!”

“I’m a Harry Styles fan, clearly, but watching the transformation that he’s taken to find his own songs and his own voice, own persona, own fluidity and image – I think he’s been brave and epic. He’s f*cking tight.”

In other Kehlani news, the California singer released their latest album, Blue Water Road, today (April 29). Check out their NME cover and listen to their new album below.

Dwyane Wade Interview Saying He Wore Sister’s Clothes As A Kid Resurfaces

After his daughter came out as transgender, Dwyane Wade’s parenting has been called into question by an international audience. Both he and wife Gabrielle Union have been vocal about accepting Zaya Wade and her transition at such a young age, but the topic has been a pointed conversation within the last two years. The Wades have discussed their relationships with the LGBTQIA community and Zaya has been easing her way into a comfortable place in the spotlight.

Last year, Dwyane sat down with I Am Athlete and spoke about his parenting choices and admitted that when he was young, he wore women’s clothing. This clip has recently resurfaced, causing the remarks to go viral once again.

The NBA icon discussed signs that he and Union picked up on when Zaya was young.

“A three years old, like I said, when me and my wife looked at each other, right, and the reason we looked at each other is because of this—you know, as kids, I used to put on heels,” said Wade. “I used to do all those things. I tried to put on whatever my sisters wear, whatever my sisters did, I tried to do those things.”

Wade’s critics have used this resurfaced opportunity to chastise or tease the sports star, but even with the gibing, the Wades are unmoved in their support for their family. Check out the clip and revisit the full interview below.

Blueface’s Mother Talks Not Seeing Grandkids: “They Had Them Kids With The [Opps]”

When she isn’t co-signing her son’s romance with Chrisean Rock, Blueface’s mother Karlissa Saffold is on social media speaking about her relationship with her grandchildren. At the moment, Blueface is expecting his second child with girlfriend Jaidyn Alexis, but he hasn’t made his romance with Chrisean a secret. Apparently, everyone involved is well aware of how Blueface moves, but his loved ones are often pelted with questions about his personal life. Karlissa hasn’t addressed the assumed polyamory this time around, but she has revealed why she doesn’t post photos with her grandkids.

According to Karlissa, if the mothers don’t bring them around, she’s not chasing after anyone.

“Y’all ain’t never seen me say happy birthday to none of my grandchildren on no damn IG, unless I’m with them at their birthday celebration,” she wrote. /yesterday, Jaidyn shared a photo of her son with Blueface at his birthday party. “My grandchildren are not on IG. If I’m not with them I’m not posting No fake ass happy birthday for y’all. Those are my GRANDCHILDREN not my children. If I don’t mess with the mommas and the daddies aren’t bringing them that’s their loss. On God Now stop asking me these weirdo questions.”

“They should be use to not having the daddies family involved it’s their selfish fake ass tradition [shrug emoji],” she added. “Not even bothered because I don’t do custody battles, God will Always bring mines home. You better ask about me.”

Karlissa added that she hasn’t “seen [her] granddaughter,” stating that “they had them kids with the oops they know where to find me.” The response has been heavy as people debate whether or not this is an appropriate, familial approach. Check out her post below.

Dreezy Praises Kodak Black’s Pen Game: “He’s A Real Poet & He’s Smart”

We closed out last month by featuring Dreezy for our Ladies First series where the multi-hyphenate musician shared her love of writing and poetry. Dreezy has written for some of the best artists in the industry, even reportedly collaborating on a project with Hit-Boy, so when it comes to recognizing another artist’s pen game talents, she would know.

Earlier this month, HipHopDX chatted with Dreezy at an event, and the topic of her 2017 collaboration with 6LACK and Kodak Black happened to come up. On “Spar,” the trio of artists targeted former President Donald Trump and criticized his reign in the White House—yet, we know that just a few years later, Kodak would change his tune after Trump pardoned him.

In this most recent conversation, Dreezy praised Kodak’s pen and called the Florida icon a “real poet.”

“I was super surprised. I was happy that we even had Black men talking about real issues that’s going on in the world and with the presidency and stuff like that,” said Dreez. “But for Kodak to be so articulate and specific with what he was talking about, it’s like he had something on his chest. I love that. That means he’s a real poet and he’s smart.”

“A lot of people be trying to play him but we not just artists, we not just rappers,” she added. “Kodak is a good example of what’s going on right now. This a controversial song, but both of those guys on it, and then me being a female, we have three different point of views. We all have different crowds to speak to, so it was just a dope little collab.”

Danny Boy Questions If Snoop Dogg Hasn’t Worked With Him Because Of His Sexuality

His vocals aided in making many of our favorite Death Row jams climb the charts and Danny Boy is a singer that has his name etched in Hip Hop history. He repeatedly worked with the late icon Tupac Shakur on classics like “I Ain’t Mad At Cha,” but in a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, Danny Boy admitted that regardless of his influence during Death Row’s reign, he doesn’t have much of a relationship with Snoop Dogg. Now that the Long Beach rapper has the reigns on Death Row, Danny spoke openly about his thoughts on the new era of the label.

“Snoop never really reached out to me,” said Danny. “They never really accepted me like on a…as one of the Death Row artists. So, you know, I guess I’m more of The Row artists than anything, but I didn’t hold my breath when he said the people he was gon’ take care of. I heard him say some names that I didn’t even know was on Death Row.”

Danny said he doesn’t believe that Snoop excludes his name intentionally, he simply thinks because he wasn’t a part of their “clique,” Snoop doesn’t recognize him as a talent. “I’m not offended by it at all,” he said, but he doesn’t believe Snoop will help him at all. “I never said Snoop Dogg owed me anything, but as far as Death Row is concerned, my music, the music that I’ve written, music that I’ve featured on, is on the Death Row label. And a lot of that music was taken off of streaming services.”

He also suggested that his sexuality may have something to do with his distance from Snoop, while also recognizing that the rapper has worked with gay artists in the past.

“I’ve never done a record with Snoop. You know what I mean? I’ve seen people tell Snoop, ‘Man, do a song with Danny Boy.’ That’s just something that—I don’t know why that never came to pass,” he said. “At first I thought it was because of my sexuality. I’mma say it. I’mma go to that. That’s the first thing I have to go to because that’s the first thing people bring up. Then, he ain’t got nothing but sissies on [his gospel album]. Oh, I’m not supposed to say that, but he has nothing but…he’s got really gay people. Gay gay people on the album. It’s just a thing of, maybe I’m just not the type of singer he likes.”

“Maybe I’m just not the kind of gay people he like.” Watch Danny Boy revisit his Death Row relationship with Snoop Dogg below.

Olivia Wilde Served Custody Papers Onstage At CinemaCon In Scheme Plotted By Jason Sudeikis’ Lawyers: Report

If you’re a movie lover, you may have heard some buzz about the mysterious manila envelope that was handed to 38-year-old Olivia Wilde as she was on stage for a presentation about her upcoming film, Don’t Worry Darling earlier this week. Initial reports speculated that an unsolicited script was placed inside, but we now know that the content was actually custody papers from her ex-fiancé, Jason Sudeikis.

As Deadline reports, Wilde asked “This is for me?” before opening the envelope that an anonymous person slid towards her. After quickly examining the insides she appeared to be unphased, and continued to present the project’s first trailer, which is said to have been met with “great applause.”

On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Ted Lasso actor confirmed that he “had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner.”

It’s been said that the plan to hand-deliver the papers to Wilde while she was at CinemaCon was put together by Sudeikis’ attorneys.

If you haven’t already heard, Don’t Worry Darling stars Midsommar actress Florence Pugh alongside Wilde’s own boyfriend, Harry Styles. During the Las Vegas presentation, she took time to praise both of her stars, revealing that the film “lives or dies” based on Pugh’s role of Alice.

The forthcoming movie is set to hit theatres on September 23rd – check out the teaser trailer above, and tap back in with HNHH later for more pop culture news updates.
