A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie & Ella Bands Sample A Big Pun Classic For “Playa”
As his fans pester him about the arrival of A Boogie vs. Artist, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is back with two new singles—sort of. The New York rapper’s phantom project has been teased for over a year and in December, Boogie shared a tracklist that made people believe he was dropping the album that day. His supporters were disappointed when the New Music Friday came and went without an A Boogie vs. Artist, but now that we have two versions of “Playa”—the other hosting a look from H.E.R.—it looks as if the album’s arrival is truly on the horizon.
Social media witnessed Boogie and Ella Bands’s breakup but it looks as if the pair just couldn’t stay away from one another. They unite on “Playa,” a track where they trade lyrics about being each other’s one and only. “Playa” samples the late-great Big Pun’s “Still Not a Player” featuring R&B icon Joe, and Bands sings her way through the track in her first-ever collaboration with her rapper beau.
Stream “Playa” and let us know your thoughts.
Quotable Lyrics
If you ain’t ready yеt, it’s okay girl, yeah
It never usеd to be this way, used to ‘preciate me, baby
My watch is over two-hundred, I ain’t mean to make you feel basic
Can’t fly every day like it’s a special occasion (Look)
But baby, just love me for free, don’t try to change me

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Is Ready To Settle Down On The Honest ‘Playa’ With HER
After going nearly all of 2021 without a project, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie arrived in the final month of 2021 with B4 AVA. The 7-track project featured one guest appearance, which was from Lil Durk through their “24 Hours” collaboration. That project arrived as the follow-up to his 2020 album Artist 2.0, and just a few months after the release of B4 AVA, A Boogie is back with a new song and it’s one that features HER beside him.
Together, A Boogie and HER unite for “Playa.” It’s a warm record that sees both acts navigating through the difficulties of a relationship. A Boogie commits to being serious about his lover, adding that he no longer wants to be a “playa.” In the song’s second verse, HER plays the role of A Boogie’s skeptical companion who doesn’t believe his words just yet. Instead, she’ll wait for his actions to prove that he’s truly serious about the relationship.
The track marks the second time that A Boogie and HER have worked together. The first time came in early 2020 through a performance of “Me And My Guitar” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The late-night appearance came after Artist 2.0 debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
You can listen to “Playa” in the video above.
A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
Tory Lanez Flexes His Bars On “Florida Sh*t”
It’s about that time for Tory Lanez to enter the New Music Fridays chat with a track. The Candian-born star is continuing his Fargo Fridays weekly roll out and right on time, he delivers “Florida Sh*t.” The production is reminiscent of a California beat but Lanez is clearly giving a nod to the Sunshine State. The song’s arrival comes with a music video that shows Lanez showing off expensive jewelry and cars, not to mention partying with his friends and a few ladies.
Lanez once again showcases his versatility as he moves from his R&B angle and displays his Rap skills. He’s been laser-focused on his career as his court date looms related to the Megan Thee Stallion shooting, and his dedicated fanbase continues to support all of his efforts.
Stream “Florida Sh*t” and let us know what you think of Lanez’s bars.

Gucci Mane Drops “Blood all On It” Featuring Key Glock & Young Dolph
As prosecutors attempt to build a case against the alleged shooters who took Young Dolph’s life, the late rapper’s friends and peers push forward his legacy. It seems unreal that back in November, Dolph was shot and killed while shopping in his hometown of Memphis, and Hip Hop continues to grieve the Paper Route Empire icon’s loss.
On Friday (April 1), Gucci Mane surfaced with a new single, “Blood All On It,” and it’s a track that hosts Key Glock and a posthumous look from Dolph. Gucci has repeatedly spoken about mourning Dolph as the two men were longtime friends.
“R I.P. to my friend Dolph this broke my heart,” Guwop tweeted following the announcement of Dolph’s murder. Later, he shared several photos of himself with Dolph and in the caption added, “Lost a real close friend today.” Stream “Blood All On It” and check out the visual that features the late rapper at a time when he was enjoying the successes of his career.

Chris Brown Drops New Single ‘WE (Warm Embrace)’
Chris Brown is back with another bop.
After much teasing and anticipation, Chris Brown delivers his new single “WE (Warm Embrace).” On the seductive R&B jam, which samples Guy’s ’90s hit “Let’s Chill,” Breezy takes it to the bedroom.
“Temperature keeps rising like Poseidon when you ride my wave,” he sings on the nostalgic track. “Whisper your desires / I’ll provide ’em / Will you say you’ll stay tonight?”
“WE (Warm Embrace)” follows “Iffy” as the second release from Chris’ long-awaited 10th studio album Breezy, which is due this summer.
You can expect more feel-good vibes on the project, which will contain 16 tracks, like his 2005 self-titled debut.
Additionally, Chris can be heard on “Time N Affection” off Nigerian singer Rema’s new album Rave & Roses.
City Girls and Fivio Foreign Team Up on ‘Top Notch’
City Girls take it from Miami to New York on their new single “Top Notch” featuring Fivio Foreign.
Over a drill beat, Yung Miami pops off before JT comes through with a heavy verse. “Every bitch that hate on me got an ugly face and a botched body,” she raps. “I’m a bad bitch, I’m a Black Barbie.”
This marks the first release from the Quality Control duo since “Twerkulator” dropped in May of last year.
Along with the song, they have released a video, which finds them mobbing through NYC with Fivio and his crew.
Next Friday, Fivio is set to release his new album B.I.B.L.E featuring the singles “Magic City” with Quavo and “City of Gods” with Kanye West and Alicia Keys. Earlier this week, he also shot a video with Nicki Minaj for their collaboration “We Go Up.”
