Sabrina Claudio Turns In A Tranquil But Powerful Rendition Of ‘Better Version’ On ‘The Eye’

In The Eye, music’s best up-and-coming artists take to an intimate and minimal studio space to perform highlights from their discography, with only one microphone and one take. This time, in the studio is Sabrina Claudio, one of the most intriguing rising stars in R&B.

The Miami-based singer-songwriter got her start, as many do, on SoundCloud, uploading songs there, generating attention, and working her way up. The hustle eventually landed her a label deal with Atlantic and she’s made good on it so far by staying busier than most of her peers: Between albums, EPs, and mixtapes, Claudio has put out a whopping six releases since 2017, with three of those being albums. The future is looking bright, too: In addition to another album, Based On A Feeling, set to drop on May 6, she also earned the favor of The Weeknd, who granted her an opening slot on his upcoming After Hours tour.

Before all that, though, Claudio has taken to The Eye for a performance of her latest single, “Better Version.” As is often the case with The Eye performances, Claudio goes for a more stripped-down arrangement of the song here, which makes it feel more like a tranquil ballad than the original. The minimal instrumentation gives Claudio’s voice plenty of room to breathe, which, when you’re blessed with as much vocal talent and beauty as Claudio, is never a bad thing.

Claudio previously told Paper of the song, “This song stems from the perspective of someone who’s in a relationship with a person who is internally toxic, they choose to remain in this relationship because of those once in a blue moon glimpses of who their partner has the potential to be. It feels like this person is in a relationship with two completely different people and doesn’t want to leave either of them at the risk of losing them both.”

While a studio rendition like this shows off what Claudio is like as a performer, it’s not the same as getting on stage in front of a crowd. However, we know she thrives in that setting, too: Uproxx’s Caitlin White saw her live in 2019 and noted, “Silky, effortless voices like Claudio’s don’t come around that often, so when they do, seeing a performer like her live is the way to go.”

Sabrina Claudio is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Blac Chyna Is Getting Roasted For Her Claims That Tyga And Rob Kardashian Don’t Pay Child Support

While there are plenty of deadbeat dads in the world, Tyga isn’t one of them — and neither is Rob Kardashian — even if Blac Chyna wants the world to think so. Chyna is the mother of children with both men, and set out to imply that due to a lack of child support, she’s had to sell off some of her own belongings to make ends meet. “Yesterday I had to give up 3 of my cars …my reasons… morals, beliefs, being a single mother, no support I’m a MAMA,” she wrote on Twitter, adding: “Single no support child support.” Chyna shares a nine-year-old son King Cairo with Tya, and five-year-old daughter, Dream, with Rob.

The problem is, both men are the primary caretakers of their respective children, and clothe, house and feed the children very close to full-time. Both Tyga and Rob also responded to Chyna’s posts by sharing exactly how much they pay to send their kids to private schools — and the number is in the high $40K range annually for both kids (That means these pre-teens are getting an education that costs as much as my college tuition, but I digress…).

Tyga responded too: “I pay 40K a year for my son’s school & he lives w me Mon-Sat,” Tyga wrote in an Instagram comment responding to stories about Chyna’s tweets. “Why would I pay child support lol

Rob responded too: “I pay 37K a year for my daughter’s school. I handle every single medical expense. I pay for all her extracurricular activities. I have my daughter from Tuesday-Saturday. Why would I pay child support lol.”

Since both Tyga and Rob spoke out vehemently against Chyna’s accusations, you know the internet decided to get involved and plenty of people are sharing their own opinions on the subject. Is the internet, once more, roasting Blac Chyna? Well, yes. But especially in this case, some of the teasing feels pretty justified. Check out some thoughts on the matter below.

And, in closing, here’s Blac Chyna’s take on “slapgate” at the Oscars:

Snoop Dogg Has Apparently Secured The Rights To A Death Row Classic: ‘The Chronic Is Bac Home’

Over the past few weeks, Snoop Dogg, who recently bought back the Death Row Records brand and much of its catalog, has been working to complete the collection, which was missing certain pivotal records including Snoop’s own debut Doggystyle and Dr. Dre’s debut The Chronic. Both albums were removed from streaming as negotiations continued. After some confusion over the ownership of the latter, it now appears that as of this week, The Chronic will once again appear under the Death Row banner, according to an Instagram post Snoop shared.

While no real details were revealed, that didn’t stop fans and peers in the comments from expressing their excitement, with 50 Cent predicting “something good coming from this.” Snoop previously shared plans to have Death Row become the first “major in the metaverse,” with designs on re-releasing the label’s collection of seminal hip-hop hits as NFTs. In the meantime, it looks like he’s still working out publishing profit shares for the label’s Tupac releases.

Meanwhile, Snoop remains pretty busy outside of Death Row; in addition to lending his likeness to the Call Of Duty video game franchise, he’s appearing in an NFT comic book, working with fellow California legends E-40, Ice Cube, and Too Short as Mount Westmore, and even plotting a collaboration with Korean pop band BTS.

Bryce James Shaping Up To Be Better Than Bronny: Report

LeBron James’ two sons, Bronny and Bryce James have proven to be phenomenal talents. At the age of 17, Bronny is already a solid college recruit who is expected to be drafted into the second round of the NBA. Meanwhile, Bryce is just 14 but is already proving himself to be an incredible shooter with all of the skills to back up his game.

With that being said, it should come as no surprise that scouts are looking very closely at these two. Despite the age gap, there are some scouts who are already making up their minds about the two teenagers. For instance, in a new interview with Dan Patrick, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst revealed that Bryce is shaping up to be the better player.

“There are people who told me that Bryce actually might be the better prospect amongst the two,” Windhorst. “Bryce, I think, is 13 or something like that. I don’t know if we can go that far.” Now, it is definitely a little early to be making these calls, however, the Bryce over Bronny talk has been prevalent for a little while now, so it’s not shocking to hear it from a reporter like Windy.

It remains to be seen what will happen to both of these young talents, although for now, there is no doubt they have a bright future ahead of them. Stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from round the basketball world.

Two Attorneys Are Fighting For The Lead Role In The Astroworld Lawsuit

As the Astroworld lawsuit prepares to begin, two lawyers are fighting over who will take the lead role in the case. Days after civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump argued that he should lead the case, Houston-based lawyer Sean A. Roberts disagrees.

Crump, who is Black, positioned himself to be the best attorney to represent a group of victims who are “disproportionately” African American, per Billboard. Roberts, who is also Black, also noted that Crump has no ties to Houston. “Any suggestions by Mr. Crump in his legal papers that Houston lacks qualified African-American trial lawyers who can serve as liaison counsel, such that the Court should appoint a Florida lawyer instead, is willfully tone-deaf,” wrote Roberts. “While Mr. Crump undoubtedly has his finger on the pulse of Florida law and national matters involving police shootings and other civil rights matters, the firm that understands the pulse of the Astroworld community – a Houston Festival – is Roberts Markland.”

Live National, Travis Scott, and a handful of other participants are facing billions in potential liability over the Astroworld crowd incident that left 10 dead and hundreds injured. For smoother legal processing, hundreds of individual lawsuits have all been consolidated into a single court case. Judge Kristen Brauchle Hawkins is expected to handle the process by coordinating thousands of individual litigants, exchanging evidence, and taking depositions, plus other pre-trial matters, per Billboard.

Crump and Roberts are currently fighting for the lead role ahead of the attorneys that will also be working on the case. Many of the victims’ lawyers have already been given this role, but nothing has been finalized. A larger “executive committee” made up of lawyers will also be appointed prior to the start of the case.

Blac Chyna Hits Tyga With A Short Response Over Child Support Drama

Blac Chyna had social media in a tizzy yesterday after she took to Twitter and claimed that she was a single mother who wasn’t getting any child support from any of her baby daddies. Of course, the two that everyone thinks of is none other than Tyga and Rob Kardashian, who clearly don’t have a great relationship with Blac Chyna these days.

In fact, Tyga hit Chyna with some facts in the comments of The Shade Room, where he revealed that he sees his child for the vast majority of the week. This had the internet going off on Chyna, where they made fun of her for essentially being a babysitter. Eventually, even Kardashian joined in on the drama, noting that he is in a very similar situation to Tyga.

Throughout this entire drama, many were waiting on Blac Chyna’s response to it all. After all, she just got outed pretty hard, so would think she would craft a huge response to what her children’s fathers said. Well, as it turns out, that is not what she did at all. Instead, she replied to a tweet about the ordeal and tagged Tyga, saying “lol.”

Needless to say, Chyna does not appreciate all of the discourse going around, although for now, she doesn’t seem too bummed out about it all.

Cardi B Claps Back Over Criticism About Her New Collab With Kay Flock

The drill wave is still riding high in New York City. It spread from Brooklyn across all five boroughs, and it’s evidently reaching mainstream consciousness. If not for the numerous TikTok challenges spawned from viral drill records, then it’s the massive co-sign the bubble artists are receiving from the biggest names in music.

Cardi B was recently spotted in the Bronx shooting a new music video for her upcoming collaboration with Kay Flock. The drill-centric anthem samples Akon’s “Bonanza,” and the clip surfacing online shows Cardi with red paisley-patterned hair. However, the timing of the clip came just after Nicki was spotted shooting a music video for her latest single with Fivio Foreign. Fans attempted to claim that Cardi was only trying to hop on the drill wave because of Nicki but the Invasion Of Privacy rapper made it clear that wasn’t the case.

Bardi pulled the receipts out, revealing that she’s been in talks with Kay Flock’s manager since January. Cardi previously showed love to Flock, and revealed that she and his manager were discussing the record in late February, weeks before Nicki even announced her collab with Fivio.

“Y’all be trynna play wit my body like I won’t come wit receipts,” she wrote. “My bad I had to rehearse for a movie for 2 months , shoot Facebook,go to Europe and close deals MY BAD @dougieb___ and cardi was in LA workin and we finally in NY our home to shoot this [fire emoji]! Don’t play wit me I Move on my timing and I BEEN DONE THIS …talk all y’all shit make sure y’all tune in to TOUCH THE GROWN !!! And FREE FUCKIN KAY FLOCK!!”

She also shared several photos of herself donning all-red fits. Check Cardi’s post below.

Snoop Dogg Says Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic” Is “Bacc Home”

Snoop Dogg has some massive plans after acquiring Death Row Records. As one of the most active artists in the NFT space, the rapper revealed that he has plans to bring back the iconic West Coast label as the first major in the metaverse. Of course, this came with plenty of concerns as fans noticed that a few iconic Death Row releases, largely from Snoop Dogg, have been pulled from streaming services.

Snoop previously hinted at having ownership of Dr. Dre’s The Chronic but the producer’s attorney said that wasn’t true. “There are false reports out regarding ownership by Death Row of Dr. Dre’s The Chronic,” Dre’s attorney Howard King reportedly told Complex in a statement. “Dr. Dre owns 100 percent of The Chronic.”

It’s not entirely clear what the misunderstanding was in Snoop’s acquisition of the label but even if he doesn’t own The Chronic, that doesn’t mean he won’t be able to work something out with Dre. Snoop went to Instagram where he shared a photo of himself with Dre locked in the studio but the caption suggests that he somehow reacquired Dr. Dre’s critically-acclaimed debut album. “The chronic is bac home,” Snoop wrote with a slew of emojis.

It seems doubtful that Dr. Dre sold the ownership of the album to Snoop but similar to the Long Beach rapper’s standing with 2Pac’s estate, we’re sure that Snoop and Dre will be able to work something out in order to celebrate the legacy of The Chronic and how it helped usher Death Row into the rap game.

Chris Rock Addresses Will Smith Oscars Slap for First Time

Chris Rock is breaking his silence after the slap heard around the world.

The comedian returned to the stage for the first time since Sunday’s Oscars during a sold-out stand-up show at the Wilbur Theater in Boston on Wednesday night (March 30), where he spoke out about the incident.

“Whoa, OK!” he said after receiving a standing ovation, which lasted for nearly two minutes before he tried to hush the crowd: “Yo, let me do the show!”

After the applause died down, he addressed the elephant in the room.

“How was your weekend?” he asked, according to Variety. “I don’t have a bunch of shit about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend. I’m still kind of processing what happened. So, at some point I’ll talk about that shit. And it will be serious and funny.”

An audience member yelled out “F**k Will Smith!” but Rock ignored the comment and continued with his hour-long set.

“I’m going to tell some jokes,” he said. “It’s nice to just be out.”

According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Smith was asked to leave the Dolby Theatre after slapping Rock but refused. “Things unfolded in a way we could not have anticipated,” the Academy said. “While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently.”

However, sources with direct knowledge say Smith was never asked to leave despite the Academy’s claim otherwise. According to TMZ, he was told by Oscars producer Will Packer that he could stay. Packer walked up to Smith around 35 minutes after the slap and said, “We do not want you to leave.” Shortly after, Smith went on to win his Best Actor Oscar.
