It happened shortly before 1:25pm Wednesday in the 100 block of South Penn Street.

Video of the attack shows a man in a black hoodie walking up behind the tow truck driver and slugging him in the face.

The driver hit his face on the back of his truck on the way down, before laying motionless on the ground, the footage further shows.

The suspect then got back into his car and drove off.

The tow truck driver was transported to an area hospital with undisclosed but serious injuries.

Authorities believe road rage may be at cause, but it isn’t clear what led up to the incident.

Cardi B Said She’s ‘Always Got Love’ For Joe Budden After He Called Her A ‘Superstar’

Joe Budden had some high praise for Cardi B, and she decided to show some love right back. The notoriously critical hip-hop personality, who runs his own show, The Joe Budden Podcast, was discussing her rise to fame and nothing but love for the New York rapper. “Cardi B is a superstar,” he said. “And you can’t argue that she is not.”

Well, as she does with most things — good or bad — Cardi B caught wind of the clip, which had been circulating on Twitter, and decided to respond. Of course, the high praise meant more to her because she has a long history with Budden, who also came up in New York as a rapper.

“I told y’all he always believed in me……that’s why I always got love for him even when he gets me mad …That’s my mean uncle,” she wrote on Twitter, sharing a very old photo of the two together, way back before Cardi is where she is now. Considering how many people try to come after Cardi due to her success, it’s nice to see someone in the game — and a man, no less — give her the credit she’s due. Now, superstar, can we get a new album?

Kodak Black’s BM Daijanae Says She’s Been “Locked In” With The Rapper “Since 2017”

His comments about how he determines who is a girlfriend or a baby mama went viral but not everyone took an issue with Kodak Black’s remarks. Recently, Kodak celebrated the soon-to-be arrival of his latest child, and he said during an interview that the gender of the baby determines the title the mother gets. If it’s a boy, then the woman will become his girlfriend, but if the child is a girl, then the mother will be labeled as a baby mama.

The woman currently pregnant with the rapper’s baby, Daijanae, reportedly surfaced to lay any rumors to rest, stating that she’s been “locked in” with Kodak “since 2017.”

“If I was cut anything like yall think I woulda been quit my job to be taken care of and be a babymama yearssssss AGO like he been asking for yearssss,” she reportedly wrote on her Instagram Story. “He wanted this more than anybody for YEARS! I really didnt care to come and defend my name or whatever but yall not gone keep playing with Daijanae Period!”

In a post he has since deleted from his Instagram, Kodak admitted that he was “a lil upset” when he learned he was having another daughter after welcoming a newborn last month. “To Be Honest I Was Suppose To Have Two Daughters Anyways For My Legacy !!!!” he wrote. Drakeo The Ruler’s Brother Sues Concert Promoters For Failing To Protect Slain Rapper: Report

Following the news that a wrongful death lawsuit was filed against Live Nation on behalf of Drakeo The Ruler’s child, the late rapper’s brother has also submitted court documents. Earlier this month, we reported on Tianna Purtue, the mother of Drakeo’s son, claiming that Live Nation was “completely knowledgeable of the potential dangers posed to both their guests and the performers they hired based on numerous past incidents of violence and death at their hip hop events.”

This week, it was reported that Drakeo’s brother has also filed a lawsuit, claiming that the Once Upon a Time in L.A. promoters failed to adequately protect the slain rapper. Drakeo was engaged in an altercation backstage when he was reportedly stabbed in the neck, and at this time, it is unclear if authorities have any suspects.

TMZ reported that promoters have been accused of not providing the proper amount of security because Drakeo was allegedly “attacked within minutes of arriving.” The lawsuit reportedly also claimed that the “violent mob attack” that took Drakeo’s life went on for 15 minutes.

“His brother claims the all-access area should have been a safe place, and he’s ripping the promoters for what he claims were “lackadaisical to totally absent” security measures. Drakeo’s bro claims promoters should have braced for the worse because the concert, held at L.A.’s Exposition Park, is in the middle of a gang-infested neighborhood and Drakeo was already the target of gang threats.”

There were reported checkpoints at the festival but while one had a drug-sniffing dog, a metal detector, and a handful of guards, the second was only fitted with “2 unarmed staffers who let anyone in as long as they flashed an all-access pass.” Drakeo was said to have fallen victim to an attack that allegedly included upwards of 100 people.

“Drakeo’s brother and others are suing Live Nation, Snoop Dogg’s LLC and the Los Angeles Football Club … the festival was held at the MLS team’s stadium … and they’re going after them for millions in damages.

A spokesperson for the festival told TMZ: “Once Upon a Time in LA joins Drakeo’s family, friends, and fans in grieving his loss. The festival is continuing to support local authorities in their investigation as they pursue the facts.”

Jussie Smollett Requests New Trial, Accuses Prosecutors Of Pressuring Witnesses: Report

He closed out 2021 on a sour note after being found guilty on five of six charges related to the alleged attack against him, but Jussie Smollett’s court battle is far from over. Earlier today (February 25), a new report surfaced stating that the Empire actor is hoping to receive a new trial after his attorneys have cited issues pertaining to the selection of the jury.

It was back in 2019 when Smollett famously claimed that he was walking down a Chicago street when he was attacked by two unknown assailants. According to the actor, two White men accosted him, placed a noose around his neck, and shouted racist and homophobic obscenities. An investigation by the Chicago Police Department reportedly uncovered inconsistencies and soon, authorities accused Smollett of orchestrating the attack for recognition.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Smollett is scheduled to return to court for sentencing next month after being found guilty of five counts of disorderly conduct. Smollett has continued to maintain his innocence.

Meanwhile, TMZ reported that the actor’s attorneys have submitted documents requesting for a reversal of the guilty verdict, citing that “the court violated his constitutional rights when it prevented his defense team from actively participating in the jury selection process.” According to the outlet, Smollett’s legal team “were not allowed to ask questions of potential jurors … and his defense claims the jury pool for the high-profile case was tainted.”

There are also allegations made against prosecutors as Smollett claimed they “showed a pattern of racism in selecting jurors” and influenced witnesses to lie on the stand. The documents also added that the judge should not have kept the media out of the courtroom. Only time will tell if this appeal will be granted.
