DaBaby & The Game Connect In The Studio

DaBaby’s rise to international stardom is nothing short of impressive. The Charlotte-bred rapper rose to mainstream prominence in 2019 with his breakout hit “Suge” after releasing several mixtapes between 2014 to 2018. Since then, he’s collaborated with the likes of Nicki Minaj, Megan thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, and many other game-heavy hitters. 

Fellow rapper The Game experienced the height of his success years prior to DaBaby, but it looks like the “Rockstar” rapper values the Compton rapper’s skills. The pair shared footage of themselves cooking up in the studio, sharing a sneak peek of what fans can expect from the upcoming collaboration.

In the footage, The Game and DaBaby smoke a spliff and drink from a double-cupped red solo as they listen to the heat they’re been working on in the studio. “Yeah, what’s up baby/Young n*gga tell me he like my truck/He like how I get that one day baby?/Work sun up to sun up,” spit DaBaby on the track. 

The Game also briefly kept recording as the beginning of his verse was previewed. Unfortunately for California rapper, though, it seems like his legal troubles are piling up.

The rapper was ordered to pay $7 million in damages to Priscilla Rainey, a woman who accused the rapper of sexual assault. He will have to give up his royalties until the debt is completely paid off. He recently suggested he had no plans to cough up the $7 million he was ordered to pay Rainey. 

New reports also claim the rapper could also owe $12 million for endorsing a failed cannabis crypto coin known as Paragon Coin. Hopefully, the new music will help generate some revenue to help pay off the costly settlements as they continue piling up. 

DaBaby Celebrates His Recent Success & Tells His Haters To “Die Slow”

Over the past couple of weeks, DaBaby has been heating up. The Charlotte, North Carolina rapper already started off 2021 right by dropping “Masterpiece” and remixing SpotemGottem’s “Beatbox,” and he has proved that he’s as hungry as ever with the latest back-to-back releases of “Ball If I Want To” and “Red Light Green Light.

Unfortunately, the Grammy-nominated recently got into a heated back-and-forth on Twitter with his close collaborator Megan Thee Stallion, and by the looks of one of his most recent tweets, it looks like DaBaby may once again be finding himself in some drama.

“It gotta be hard waking up everyday hating on a n*gga ya auntie wanna f*ck and kids wanna be like [angry emoji],” DaBaby says in the contentious tweet. “Die slow p*ssy, it’s Baby [laughing emoji].”

While it isn’t entirely clear who’s “auntie” or “kids” that DaBaby is referring to in his recent tweet, but judging from his emoji usage, the BLAME IT ON BABY rapper probably isn’t losing any sleep over the hate that he’s been receiving. A short while after calling out his haters, DaBaby returned with another tweet that thanked his fans for making his two latest singles rack up millions of views. Check out DaBaby’s tweets below.

Mark Cuban Comments On The Hiring Of Jason Kidd

Mark Cuban has been a very busy man over the past couple of weeks as he has had to hire a brand new coach as well as a general manager. With Rick Carlisle leaving the team, the Mavs seemed to be in a bit of disarray, however, Cuban brought in Dirk Nowitzki in an advisory role that saw him helping the team with their big decisions. In the end, Cuban and the Mavericks hired Jason Kidd as the head coach and they got Nico Harrison as their general manager.

Following Kidd’s hiring, TMZ was able to catch up with Cuban where they asked him about the new acquisition. As you can imagine, Cuban was quite excited about his brand new head coach and stated that this is going to be huge for Luka Doncic’s development.

“I’m excited about it, obviously,” Cuban said. “J. Kidd is going to be great for us. He’s going to be great for Luka, for the organization. I’m really excited. […] I think we’ll get better talent. We’ll keep on getting better. Luka will keep on getting better. And, I think Jason will help Luka and the team get better.”

The Mavericks still have a lot to do before they can contend for a title, although with Luka on their team, anything is possible at this point.

Tyler, The Creator To Score His Largest Opening Week Ever With “CMIYGL”

Tyler, the Creator unleashed his sixth studio album Call Me If You Get Lost on Friday (June 25). In less than 24 hours since its release, the project has already generated rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. The 16-track album includes guest appearances from Lil Wayne, Pharrell, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Uzi Vert, 42 Dugg, NBA YoungBoy, and others.

Beginning CMIYFL‘s rollout just a few weeks before its arrival, the IGOR artist had a short period of time to promote the tape. Based on early sales projections for the project, it seems like he didn’t really need to, either. Tyler is slated to have a massive debut at the summit of the chart next week.

According to the projections from chart aggregate source Chart Data, Call Me If You Get Lost is expected to move around 175,000+ units in its first week. If all goes as expected, this would become Tyler’s largest opening week to date and his second #1 album. His first chart-topping album was 2019’s IGOR. 

Doja Cat also unleashed her third studio album Planet Her on Friday (June 25) alongside the music video for her collaboration with The Weeknd “You Right.” The “Say So” artist’s project is expected to push about 100k copies in its first week, which would compete with Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR for the second spot on the chart.

DJ Drama Explains The Unique Approach He Used On “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST”

Tyler, The Creator’s sixth studio album CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST arrived on Friday, and it’s already in talks of so far being the best album of 2021. Hip-Hop fans that have already listened to the full project or heard the previously released single “Lumberjack” undoubtedly recognized DJ Drama’s voice while listening to Tyler’s new music, and to all of our surprise, the entirety of CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST is narrated by the legendary DJ, Gangsta Grillz-style.

Childish Gambino’s STN MTN project in 2014 was one of the last notable post-Gangsta Grillz era projects that enlisted DJ Drama for his services, but Tyler, The Creator’s latest work took that concept to an entirely different level. He recently filmed a video with Drama and praised the veteran artist, saying, “The legend. I don’t even use that word. You’re a fucking God. I love you and I’m going to give you a hard hug after this.”

Now, in a recent interview with Complex, DJ Drama offers some insight into the work that he and Tyler, The Creator put into CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST. Apparently, contributing to Tyler’s latest album was unlike anything that he’s ever done with other Gangsta Grillz projects.

“Normally in these types of situations, if I do a Gangsta Grillz with somebody, they compile their music together and hand it over to me, and then I’ll go in on my own without them and do my thing and return the finished product,” DJ Drama tells Complex’s Andre Gee. “With Tyler, it was a little different: I came in, gave him an abundance of things—even more than what I had originally placed—and just gave him enough material to choose from and layer it out.”

DJ Drama goes on to explain what makes CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST so special, saying, “It has that Gangsta Grillz feel, but this is Tyler’s album. I wanted to relinquish some of the control and let him do what he always dreamed about.”

Trae Young Takes The Blame For Game 2 Blowout Loss

Last night was a rough one for Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks. After going up 1-0 against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Hawks were blown out in Game 2 as the final score was 125-91. The Bucks were dominant from start to finish and they were able to keep Young to just 16 points. Young had multiple turnovers throughout the game, and many fans felt like he had his worst game of the playoffs thus far. After all, the Bucks are a superior team, and it’s going to be a fight for Atlanta to win.

After the game, while speaking to reporters, Young admitted that he was off on Friday night and that moving forward, he needs to be more protective of the ball, otherwise, this series could get out of hand very quickly.

“That’s all on me,” Young said per ESPN. “I’ve got to be better at taking care of the ball. And do a better job of at least getting us a shot and not turning it over so much. And I’ve got to do better and I will be better next game.”

With the series going back to Atlanta, the Hawks have a very solid chance of taking a lead in the series. However, if they play like they did on Friday, then the Bucks could very well be up 3-1 by early next week.

Diplo’s Ex-Girlfriend Reportedly Sued Him For Sexual Battery, Assault, Defamation, And Fraud

Diplo is facing some legal trouble once again. According to TMZ, the producer was recently sued by his ex-girlfriend for sexual battery, assault, defamation, infliction of emotional distress, and fraud. In legal documents that the publication obtained, his former partner, Shelly Auguste, claims the DJ reached out to her when she was 17 and “solicited nude photos of her.” They would later meet in person for the first time in 2018 when she turned 21. After Auguste moved to LA, Diplo allegedly tried to coerce her into sex by sending explicit photos of himself in sexual situations.

She adds that Diplo “recorded video of their sexual encounter despite her telling him she didn’t want that” and attempted to “coax her into a threesome with a girl she believes was underaged at the time.” When she declined the threesome, Auguste claims he “forced himself on her as she tried to fight him off.”

The accusations come after Diplo asked a judge to sign a temporary restraining order against Auguste in December, just a month after she accused him of revenge porn. More recently, in April, he sued her and alleged she was stalking and harassing him. Diplo’s attorney, Brian Freedman, spoke to TMZ and denied all the allegations from Auguste.

“As has already been made clear in the restraining order we obtained against this individual, she has repeatedly stalked, defamed, threatened and attempted to shake down Diplo and his family,” he said. “These latest false claims are just part of that ongoing campaign of harassment, and we will not allow them to deter us from pursuing justice against her to the fullest extent possible under the law.”

DJ Drama Explained What Made Working With Tyler The Creator Unique From Other ‘Gangsta Grillz’ Projects

Tyler The Creator shared his sixth album, Call Me If You Get Lost, on Friday. The project is his first full-length release since 2019’s Igor which went on to win Best Rap Album at the 2020 Grammys. While all of Tyler’s projects are unique, Call Me If You Get Lost was special in its own sense thanks to contributions from DJ Drama. The present-day record executive is also known for backing several key mixtapes in the 2000s through his Gangsta Grillz series and to the delight of fans, Call Me If You Get Lost was made to sound like a project from that era.

During an interview with Complex’s Andre Gee, Drama was asked how working with Tyler on his new album differed from past acts he collaborated with in the Gangsta Grillz series.

French Duo Justice Says Justin Bieber’s ‘Justice’ Album Artwork Was A ‘Very Conscious Rip-Off’ Of Their Logo

The battle between Justin Bieber and French dance duo Justice continues. The latter sent a cease-and-desist letter to the singer earlier this year claiming that the logo on Bieber’s album was a copied version of the duo’s own logo. Three months after the letter was sent to Bieber, Justice’s Gaspard Augé spoke about the issue in a interview with The Guardian.

“Though Bieber is from Canada, his actions fit this mindset of American hegemony: ‘Oh well, it’s just a small band from France, I’m sure we can take their name, nobody will care…’” Augé said during the interview. “Obviously, we don’t own the word ‘Justice’ and we don’t own the cross. But [Bieber’s] management got in touch first to ask where our logo came from, so it’s not some unhappy coincidence. To me, it’s a very conscious rip-off. And that’s where the problem is.”

It was first revealed that Bieber reached out to the French duo after Justice’s co-manager made the reveal at the time of the cease-and-desist letter. “Through your illegal co-opting of the Mark, you are now subject to immediate legal action and damages including, but not limited to, punitive and injustice relief,” the letter read. “Not only was Bieber’s team actually aware of Justice’s use of the Mark, they sought to use the same artist to essentially duplicate it for the Album. This is textbook bad faith and willful infringement.”

Tomi Lahren Attacked For Quoting Brittney Spears in Bizarre Tweet

Commentator Tomi Lahren is accustomed to Twitter criticism– she sure received enough while relentlessly supporting the Trump Administration. However, she crossed a new line yesterday by referencing a Brittney Spears song to prove a point about “free loaders.” This all comes in the midst of the long brewing controversy surrounding Spears and her conservatorship, of which she wants out. Spears fans flocked to the tweet yesterday, calling Lahren out as being insensitive and “clout chasing.”

“To all the free loaders still collecting taxpayer funded government unemployment $$ and refusing to work.. In the words of the great Britney Spears, “you better work B*TCH,” read Lahren’s tweet. Lahren’s unnecessary and inconsiderate reference of Spears triggered the Twitter attack that brought strong words from Spears fans. One user wrote: “Wow. Using Britney to stay relevant. Classy,” while another added “We’re trying to #FreeBritney, we don’t need you to quote her. Why quote someone you will never be as good as? Or as strong as?”

Others were simply averse to the politics behind her tweet, with one user commenting: “Not everyone can make a few thousands by taking pictures of products they ‘like’ for IG stories, Tomi. You sound so distant from reality…”

Spears is currently engaged in a battle against what she calls the “abusive” conservatorship that has allowed her father to control her life for years. “I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized.. I just want my life back,” Spears said at a court hearing Monday.
