Wiz Khalifa hasn’t outsmoked Snoop Dogg yet but the two are undoubtedly the most prolific stoners of our time. Snoop took Wiz under his wing after Wiz took off in the rap game. Since then, they’ve developed a strong bond with one another that they stamped with the success of “Young, Wild & Free” ft. Bruno Mars.
The song became the lead single from the soundtrack of the movie, Mac & Devin Go To High School. In the same way that Method Man and Redman delivered an iconic stoner film with How High, Mac & Dev served a similar purpose in Snoop and Wiz’s career. The film developed a strong cult following, despite the negative reviews.
The movie dropped over 10 years ago but the two are coming through with a sequel. Snoop announced a sequel to the film, titled High School Reunion, was coming this summer. The rapper shared photos of himself and Wiz smoking out in the studio when he shared the news. Then, Wiz the same photos and called himself an iteration of the iconic stoner duo, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. “We the new Cheech and Chong,” he captioned the post with the hashtag #HighSchoolReunion.
There’s little information regarding the upcoming sequel to Mac & Devin Go To High School. However, Wiz and Snoop have been plotting on its release for nearly a decade at this point. Snoop said in a 2014 interview that production companies wanted him and Wiz to produce a sequel. At the time, he also said that he and Wiz would deliver an accompanying soundtrack to the film, as well. However, it appears that the film was dropped shortly after only to be picked up, once again, over a decade after Mac & Devin Go To High School initially dropped.
Besides the new film, Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg have been tied to a Smoker’s Olympics. Last year, Styles P issued a challenge to all of hip-hop’s most notable smokers in hip-hop to see who can stand the longest in a smoke out. Though many accepted the challenge, it hasn’t gone down yet. Hopefully, this comes to fruition this year, as well.
