Tua Tagovailoa Contemplated Retirement

Tua Tagovailoa has dealt with some very serious injuries. The Dolphins QB was diagnosed with two concussions in a very short period of time. Both injuries were very scary for all who had to witness them. Including the incident in Cincinnati that saw the QB being stretchered off the field. Just last season, Tua suffered three head injuries. Which was enough for many medical professionals to call for the former Alabama star’s early retirement from the game. Tua heard those remarks and thought about calling it a career.

However, after thinking about retirement, Tua realized he can still play. The Dolphins QB spoke with the media about having those retirement conversations with his family. “I think I considered it for a time,” Tua said. “Having sat down with my family and having sat down with my wife and having those conversations. But it would be hard for me to walk away from this game, with how old am I, with my son.” While the QB is just 25, the thought of another head injury could be extremely dangerous for Tua.

Tua Tagovailoa Isn’t Worried About Past Injuries

Tua has yet to appear in a full season with the Dolphins. Questions about his health are cause for serious concern. With the NFL Draft mere days away, one has to wonder if Miami is interested in looking at a quarterback. But for now, the team seems to be set and focused, with Tua leading the franchise. Even without Tua to finish the year, the Dolphins earned a playoff spot. However, the team fell to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card.

However, the Dolphins feel with Tua, the team can go a lot further than the Wild Card. Expectations are as high as they could be for this Dolphins team. Many around the franchise believe when healthy, the team could compete with the Bills for the top spot in the AFC East. But Tua’s health will be a key component in just how far the team can go.
