The sister of one of the victims of the stampede at a GloRilla concert in New York, last month, intends to sue, according to Billboard. Ronisha Huston’s attorneys detailed their case to the outlet, claiming that their client suffered “emotional distress and needs access to video footage, emergency plans, and other key information.”
The court filing from Tuesday notes that Huston is the sister of Rhondesia Belton. Belton is one of three people who died at the show. “Petitioner Ronisha Huston and her now-deceased sister, Rhondesia Belton, got caught up in the crowd surge,” Huston’s team shared. “Huston witnessed her sister getting crushed in the stampede.” They filed the document in court as a “petition for pre-action discovery.” The legal team says they were retained to “pursue claims for personal injuries and infliction of emotion[al] distress” and that Huston has a “meritorious” case.

Huston and her team are looking to obtain a series of information from Main Street Armory. This includes “the security firms involved, video footage of the entire concert, fire exit and emergency plans, floor plans, regulatory permits, and communications with private entities involved with the concert.”
The stampede occurred at the conclusion of GloRilla’s show after the crowd heard what they believed to be gunshots. Belton and Brandy Miller died from injuries they sustained that same night. Additionally, a third woman, Aisha Stephens, died a few days later. GloRilla released a statement on Twitter following the announcement of the deaths. GloRilla began by calling the deaths “tragic.” From there, she further wrote: “My fans mean the world to me praying for their families & for a speedy recovery of everyone affected.” The case comes less than two years after the deadly crowd surge during a Travis Scott concert. That incident later resulted in hundreds of similar lawsuits, although there were far more than victims at Astroworld. Check out GloRilla’s statement on the tragic incident on Twitter below.
