Saweetie has received both positive and negative feedback from her peers in the rap industry. Her first official single, “Icy Girl,” was released in 2017, and it features her rapping over the beat from Khia’s well-known track “My Neck, My Back.” Unfortunately, Khia did not think she did it justice. In December 2022, Saweetie unveiled her most recent EP, THE SINGLE LIFE, which she dubbed her most candid project yet. Fans are still anticipating the release of her first full-length album, Pretty Bitch Music, which was originally scheduled to be released in 2021. Last year, Saweetie promised that the album would be released by the end of 2022, but as of April 2023, there is no official release date.
Although Saweetie is a highly accomplished rapper, success has not come without its difficulties. In the beginning of 2021, a video of her performing an acapella rap went viral on social media, leading to criticism from some who believed that her flow was subpar. Saweetie replied by posting a longer freestyle on her own social media accounts, displaying her rapping talents and silencing her detractors. While she may not be to everyone’s liking, Saweetie remains unbothered by the negativity.
Saweetie’s Big Payday
In a new video posted from Coachella, Saweetie is asked by an interviewer what her first performance was. She revealed that her first performance ever was in Istanbul, Turkey, where she was paid $10,000 to perform one song. The interviewer then asks what it was that the rapper spent her big paycheck on, and she replies that she spent it on “some boobs.” The rapper then playfully looks at camera while she grabs her breasts.
Some fans chimed in on the investment, taking to the comment section to give their thoughts. “The 10k was a career investment,” one said. Clearly some people think it was a good idea. Others, however, are not impressed by Saweetie’s look. “How are men still attracted to this version of a female? They all cut copy waste,” another user said. Ouch. What do you think of Saweetie’s investment? Do you think it was money well spent or no? Let us know in the comments!
