There’s a lot of music to look forward to this year from the OVO Sound team. Roy Woods, specifically, has been keeping fans on the edge of their seats for the release of a new album. He dropped Dem Times in 2020, a six-song EP that held us down throughout the pandemic. However, he continued to keep his foot on the gas with a slew of remixes since then. Still, his 2023 run so far has indicated that he actually has a new project in store and with summer finally arriving, there’s no better time to unleash it.
This week, the Brampton-based star came through with the release of his new single, “Don’t Mind Me.” The slow-burning R&B jam has the moody, spacey feel that became synonymous with OVO Sound, thanks to production by 40. Roy Woods passionate vocal prowess takes center stage as he brings another lush and sultry anthem into the mix. It’s another impressive effort from Woods that has us excited about what else he has in store.

Roy Woods Keeps It Coming
The OVO Sound artist already came through with three records that appear to be intended for his next album. In February, he blessed fans with the release of “Don’t Love Me,” produced by Crater and UpNorth. Then, he slid through with “Young Boy Problems,” a moody R&B jam that further showcases his range.
Last year, Roy Woods spoke to HotNewHipHop where he provided details surrounding his upcoming project, Mixed Emotions. Revealing Drake will executive produce the effort, he said, “I wanted to get my album the best way I could, and with his help, it was perfect. He had a very similar vision of what I wanted, so it wasn’t hard for us to pick songs and go through songs together. He flew me off to the Bahamas, we were listening to songs and going through them. It was amazing.” We’re hoping it’ll see a release date soon. Check out the record above.
