Waka Flocka Talks Supporting Teen Daughter Charlie & Her GF: “I Believe In Experience”

Season two of Waka & Tammy: What The Flocka is upon us and the Hip Hop couple are back to showing intimate moments of their lives. This season, viewers will see more of Charlie, Tammy’s daughter and Waka’s stepdaughter, as the 15-year-old prepares for her quinceanera. On the show, Charlie reveals that she wants to bring her girlfriend as her date, and cameras captured the moment she told Waka about her plans. The rapper didn’t seem phased by the news and simply told her, “Okay.”

Waka Flocka revisited the reality TV moment while chatting with the hosts of The Mix on Fox Soul. “Okay,” Waka said as he restated his original response with a laugh. He wondered what people expected him to do and mimicked what it would look like if he was, for whatever reason, upset about Charlie being apart of the LGBTQIA+ community.

He was asked what he was thinking the moment Charlie made her big reveal. “I don’t think. I don’t have expectations,” said the rapper. “The stuff you expecting is never gon’ be a hundred percent. I don’t believe in a hundred percent. I believe in experience. So, I can’t say I don’t like something or love something if I never experienced it. I approach it like a strong-minded male and it’ll run her away. I followed my wife’s footsteps like, baby just chill, just listen to her.”

It was also noted that Charlie didn’t have to “come out” because she was never encouraged to hide. Check out the full interview below.

Romeo Miller Defends Justin Bieber’s Use Of MLK Jr. Audio On “Justice”

We have received another Justin Bieber album and listeners immediately had a bone to pick with the singer. Justice has arrived in all of its glory causing another stint of Biebermania, but what fans didn’t understand was why the Canadian icon interlaced clips of Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches with love songs about his wife, Hailey Bieber née Baldwin. Thousands have taken to social media with questions about the project and critics have penned think pieces about the topic, but Romeo Miller believes that this generation is making something out of nothing.

“All I’m saying is, why are we really mad?” questioned Miller while on Fox Soul’s The Mix. “You’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t. And that’s what this generation like, one thing that I said at an early age when I  started my career, I said, ‘Pops, I want my career to represent hope.’ I want people to look at me and know that anything is possible. I think what Justin is doing is like, he’s just trying to give back and shine that light on something where people saying, ‘Well, he has a whole R&B album about love songs. What does that have to do about Martin Luther King Jr.?’ and this and that.”

“He’s trying to actually [do] what everybody tell us to do. Use your platform for something good,” Miller added. “It’s that simple.” Miller’s co-host Jazz Anderson agreed and said that although she probably won’t ever listen to Justice, she commends Bieber for using his creative space to bring awareness.

Do you think Bieber uplifted the Black community by including MLK Jr.’s speeches?

SWV And Xscape Will Bring Their R&B Classics To The Table In An Upcoming ‘Verzuz’

The past week has been a busy one for Verzuz, and it looks like the next couple of months will be just as active. Next month, SWV and Xscape will come together for a 20-song competition, bringing some of their best songs for another great showcase of R&B’s past. Surely we’ll be hearing SWV’s “Weak” and “Right Here” from their 1992 album, It’s About Time, and Xscape’s “Justin Kickin’ It” and “Understanding” from 1993’s Hummin’ Comin’ At ‘Cha, among others.

SWV and Xscape’s battle is the latest Verzuz duel announced within the past week. Earlier Timbaland and Swizz Beatz revealed the next battle will be between Earth, Wind & Free and The Isley Brothers on Easter Sunday. Less than three weeks later, Redman and Method Man will go head-to-head in a “How High” special on April 20. The platform also promoted three themed events: “Ladies Night,” “Mother’s Day Special,” and “Rematch,” as well as two additional untitled battles. The participants for these matchups have yet to be revealed.

But there’s one high-profile artist that Verzuz almost coaxed into a battle: Dr. Dre. During an episode of The Breakfast Club, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz revealed the rap legend backed out after Teddy Riley and Babyface’s heavy-flawed battle last April. “When Dr. Dre wasn’t feeling the sound from Teddy Riley and Babyface, that hurt our heart,” Swizz said. “I was like, ‘Oh my god.’”

NBA YoungBoy’s Mom Rants: “F*ck Wendy Williams Around Here”

She hopped on television and trashed NBA YoungBoy following his arrest and unsurprisingly, Wendy Williams has incurred the wrath of the rapper’s loved ones. “He’s got to go to jail,” said Williams on her show. “How do you do a hot pursuit. There are innocent people out here. You could have hurt innocent people in your hot pursuit and running through people’s backyards. Nobody wants that. bringing down the property value.” YoungBoy’s mother, Sherhonda Gaulden, quickly clapped back at Williams, but she isn’t quite finished.

After making a post yesterday, Mama Gaulden faced trolls who laughed at her family’s current circumstance. Even rappers who were beefing with YoungBoy like Kodak Black and Young Thug came forward to say that they didn’t wish jail or prison on anyone, but that didn’t stop the public from slinging a bit of cruelty her way.

“And FYI y’all laughing at Wendy Williams say my child bring property value down she’s not talking just about my child she’s talking about blacks in General because no matter rapper doctors Lawer if you’re colored that’s the term they use [grinning emoji],” she wrote. She also added, “F*ck Wendy Williams around here.”

Meanwhile, YoungBoy remains in federal custody and has been indicted on weapons charges. Check out Gaulden’s posts below.

Issa Rae Inks 5-Year, $40 Mil Deal With WarnerMedia: Report

More big moves are being made by Issa Rae and if reports are to be believed, this latest deal is a massive one. She burst onto the scene with her Awkward Black Girl series that turned itself into Insecure, and over the years, Issa Rae has been building her production empire brick by brick. Her story of working from the ground up is one that many entertainment hopefuls long for, and Variety reported on Wednesday (March 24), Rae has doubled down on her partnership with HBO.

According to the outlet, it was back in 2016 when Rae penned a deal with HBO for a two-year contract, and in 2018, she renewed for another three years. The actress’s Hoorae media company will partner with WarnerMedia, meaning she gives “HBO, HBO Max and Warner Bros. television exclusive rights” to her work. That includes first-look film deals and television prospects.

“It’s really exciting to have that flexibility and just deepen the relationship that we already have,” said Rae. “Hoorae already had at least 15 projects in various stages of development with them, so we’d been working with them on the drama side, the unscripted side, and the documentaries side for a couple years now.”

“When people believe in you and build with you, I tend to want to further that relationship,” she added. “That’s just been a staple of mine with so many of the people that I work with.” Variety’s “sources” also shared that the five-year deal earned Rae $40 million, but that hasn’t been confirmed by the mogul herself. She did, however, tweet, “Thank you to @Variety and to everyone for the kind words and support. Excited for this next chapter. HOORAE! (And them ‘sources’ are John Snow [side eye emoji][yawnemoji]).”

Last month, Rae announced that she’d partnered with City Girls to produce a show on HBO Max.

Pop Smoke’s Debut Album Broke A ‘Billboard’ Chart Record That Eminem Held For A Decade

Pop Smoke ended 2020 with one of his biggest records, “Dior,” landing a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance. While Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce would eventually take home that award, the nomination was proof of the impact he made in his tragically short career. Another example can be seen in the success his posthumous debut album, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon, which recently broke a Billboard record Eminem held for the last decade.

The record in question is the longest-running No. 1 Rap Album, after it tallied its 20th non-consecutive week atop that chart. The previous record holder was Eminem’s seventh album, Recovery, which spent 19 weeks there between 2010 and 2011. On its way to the top, Pop’s posthumous debut also passed Drake’s Take Care (16 weeks), Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ The Heist (13), and Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. (11).

Should Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon can keep up its chart-topping streak going, it will break another Billboard record. If it reaches 29 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1, the album will break MC Hammer’s record for most weeks atop the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart. It also recently passed Michael Jackson’s Bad and Prince’s Purple Rain for most weeks on the chart, which is cool, too.

Miley Cyrus Sends Migos Flowers For “Hannah Montana” Anniversary

Before Migos became a household name, they were just three lads fresh out of the bando trying to make a name for themselves through rap. Their youthful energy, triplet flow, and infectious energy immediately made them rap’s favorite new group.

Singles like “Bad & Boujee” became their “breakout hit” to the masses, earning them a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance. However, it was records like “Hannah Montana” that created their gargantuan buzz. “Hannah Montana” cleverly transformed Miley Cyrus’ Disney character into an innuendo for drug trafficking and it immediately spread across rap fans and cemented Migos as the next biggest thing out of Atlanta.

Today marks 15 years since Miley Cyrus launched her Disney program and to commemorate the occasion, she made sure to give Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff their dues for their single. Offset and Quavo shared photos on Instagram of floral arrangements sent by Miley with a note reading, “I [love] your song about me! Keep rockin’! – Love, Hannah Montana.”

Migos are inching closer and closer to the release of their forthcoming project, Culture III. Over the past few days, the group has ramped up promotion efforts. Over the weekend, Offset previewed a verse from the unreleased track, “Modern Day Stroll.” Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset were also recently spotted at DJ Khaled’s studio so there’s no doubt that they’re still cooking up.

NBA YoungBoy Dodges RICO Charge, Faces Up To 10 Years: Report

As NBA YoungBoy remains in federal custody, more information regarding his case has been shared. The rapper was picked up by federal authorities earlier this week in Los Angeles following a traffic stop. The vehicle YoungBoy was in led police on a short-lived pursuit and when pulled over, YoungBoy ran on foot before he was tracked by a K-9 unit. It was later reported that the warrant that was issued for his arrest stemmed from the September incident when he was taken into custody.

A lawyer has reportedly obtained information about the case and has taken to Instagram to share details regarding what could be next for the 21-year-old father of seven. “Got the update on YoungBoy. He’s facing a federal charge for felon possession of a firearm. Carries with it a sentence of between five and ten years,” said the lawyer. “He didn’t get hit with the RICO charge. This, however, is a very serious charge. He has priors, also, when they tried to arrest him he ran and they found a gun in the car he ran from.”

In the caption, he added, “No Rico. Felon in possession of a firearm. When feds charge that they are going to have strong evidence like DNA or fingerprints or something else tying you to the firearm. While typically this isn’t the most serious charge, when you have a guy with priors involving guns, and the guy who ran from Cops when they try to arrest him and then the cops found a gun in the car he ran from, that is all going to be a very big problem. Bail will be tough. And it’s going to be very hard to avoid jail time.”

“The Boondocks” Reboot Set For 2022 Release Date

For fans who’ve been waiting on the return of Huey and Riley Freeman, it looks like you’ll have to wait a little bit longer. HBO Max announced that they acquired the rights to The Boondocks in 2019 and would be bringing Aaron McGruder back as the showrunner for a reboot of the series. Initially set for a fall 2020 premiere date, it was pushed back until the following year. Earlier this year, it was set for a late 2021 release but it seems to have been delayed once again.

As reported by OkayPlayer, The Boondocks official Instagram page quietly changed their bio to reveal that the reboot would be airing in 2022. The news for the delay arrives alongside the launch of the official Boondocks NFT’s that were created in partnership with creative director/executive producer of the show, Seung Kim.

HBO Max ordered two seasons of the reboot with the first season to include 12 episodes and a 50-minute special set. Old episodes of the show will also be available for streaming on HBO Max.

“There’s a unique opportunity to revisit the world of The Boondocks and do it over again for today,” McGruder said about the relaunch of the series at the time. “It’s crazy how different the times we live in are now – both politically and culturally – more than a decade past the original series and two decades past the original newspaper comic. There’s a lot to say and it should be fun.”

The death of John Witherspoon has left fans wondering how the show would move forward without the original voice of Grandad. Last year, a viral tweet for a fan suggested that Jenifer Lewis plays the role of Grandad’s sister, taking care of Huey and Riley after his passing. Lewis said that she’d check in about this idea, and given that she has voiced the roles of Geraldine and Boss Willona on the show, it seems like this could possibly come to fruition.
