Lil Mama Remixes Mooski’s “Track Star” & Shares Snippet Of Bossy Bars

Regardless of the recent controversy that has followed her, Lil Mama remains dedicated to her craft.  The rapper stepped onto the scene with her 2007 breakout hit “Lip Gloss,” and she’s continued to develop her career in and out of the music industry since that time. There have been several conversations about women in Rap, especially in recent years as fans of the genre debate the sexually explicit content that has permeated the culture. Lil Mama took a break from defending her stance about transgendered children and decided to hop on the “#TrackStarChallenge” by spitting a few bars.

Over on TikTok, Mooksi’s “Track Star” has been making major waves after going viral and we’ve seen more people share their version of the challenge on other social media platforms. The challenge itself involves walking and running in place, but Lil Mama chose instead to use the moment to freestyle.

Some family members tried to talk me out my dreams / Some gang members tried to talk me out my jeans / Either way I’m bustin’ through the seams and what it seem like / Life is but a dream and it ain’t never what it seem like,” Lil Mama rapped. “Now I’m in the booth remixing this Mooski / Trips to the A gotta link with Toosi / Tell ’em weigh me down like my nickname Boosie.”

The New York emcee has been receiving praise for her rhymes, so check out the brief snippet and let us know what you think.

Nick Cannon Names 50 Cent, Nipsey Hussle, & T.I. On His “Top 5 Rappers Who Can Fight” List

After taking a brief hiatus following the backlash over his anti-Semitic remarks, Nick Cannon is back in full swing. It’s been reported that the media mogul has regained his working relationship with ViacomCBS and soon, Wild ‘N Out will return to your small screens. Cannon has been busy on the homefront with a new baby in tow and reported twins on the way, and he’s adding more to his heavy load by keeping things moving on his YouTube channel. Yesterday (March 22), Cannon shared a clip where he listed off a “Top 5,” but this time it’s all about rappers who know how to throw bows.

He prefaced his list by saying this is only his opinion and urged viewers to take to social media to weigh in. “Now, this is all about what’s been proven. It’s not about if you think you can fight,” said Cannon. “We done saw a couple rappers recently pretending they boxing. Tyga, you one of ’em. YK Osiris, I don’t know, he beat himself up. He fightin’ himself. So, there’s a lot of rappers trying to throw them hands, they’re some that really got hands and they size proves it.”

Obviously, we know that YK Osiris isn’t a rapper, but that’s beside the point. The list goes as is: No. 5, Cannon chooses 50 Cent (“We know 50 got hands!… I think 50 would knock the sh*t out of Floyd Mayweather!”); No. 4 is T.I. (“I’ve seen Tip. Tip will sock the sh*t out you!”); No. 3 is Hitman Holla; for No. 2 Cannon picked Nipsey Hussle (“[He] wasn’t no punk. We saw him slap the sh*t out that bodyguard.”); and the No. 1 spot went to The Game.

Cannon admitted that there are “several honorable mentions” including Waka Flocka, Gucci Mane, and Casanova. We’re a bit surprised DaBaby didn’t get a mention, but maybe that’s for the best. Check out the clip below to hear what Nick Cannon had to say about the rappers on his list and let us know who your Top 5 Rappers Who Can Fight would be.

JayDaYoungan’s BM Accuses Him Of Abusing Her While Pregnant, Posts Photos Of Injuries

Scathing allegations have come forward against JayDaYoungan. Back in October 2020, we reported on the news that the rapper had been arrested following a domestic dispute. The 22-year-old was taken into custody after he allegedly “punched, pushed, and grabbed” a woman, but she wasn’t named at the time. Earlier that year in February, a warrant was issued for his arrest after he stood accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend. The alleged victim of his reported attack remained unknown, however, the mother of his child, a woman named Jordan, has come forward with her story—and she dropped off a few photos to prove her case.

Jordan shared that while she was pregnant, JayDaYoungan allegedly physically abused her, and she uploaded a series of photos that showed her battered and bruised body. The rapper’s current alleged girlfriend, Cuban Doll, seemed to ruffle Jordan’s feathers, and the two ladies soon engaged in a back-and-forth on Twitter.

“Child I should’ve just answered the phone for Jay a few mins ago…” wrote Jordan. “You a embarrassment on your ‘Boyfriend’ ..like who girlfriend acts like that towards they child mother. Like if your so called happy and stull why videos of my child and his daddy bother you? But oh well anyway.” Cuban Doll tweeted, “Stop putting my tweets next to another mfa tweets these are not related.”

Jordan believes that old videos she shared of JayDaYoungan with their son caused Cuban Doll to react online. What led up to her posting the photos of her injuries remains unclear, but this is the second beef Cuban Doll has engaged in recent months. She previously had a fight with King Von’s sister Kayla B that unraveled in real-time and resulted in a physical altercation. Check out the most recent uproar below.

NBA YoungBoy’s Federal Warrant Was Connected To September Arrest: Report

As expected, more news about NBA YoungBoy’s arrest has been shared. There has been an influx of information regarding the rapper’s legal troubles after news broke that he attempted to flee from federal authorities in Tarzana, California. The 21-year-old rapper reportedly had a federal arrest warrant and after police located a vehicle he was riding in, the driver allegedly set forth a short-lived pursuit before YoungBoy ran off. A K-9 unit eventually tracked him down and as he remains in federal custody, TMZ shares why there was a warrant out for his arrest in the first place.

According to the outlet, this warrant stems from NBA YoungBoy’s September arrest where he was reportedly taken into custody in Baton Rouge. TMZ claims that documents suggest that when the rapper was arrested six months ago, he was found to have two firearms—a .45 pistol and a 9mm handgun. Due to YoungBoy’s prior run-ins with the law, especially the felony, he isn’t supposed to have firearms in his possession.

During the September arrest, it’s reported that over a dozen firearms were seized by police in addition to stacks of cash. “The rapper’s been charged with one count of illegal possession of firearms by a felon, and possession of an unregistered weapon,” reports TMZ. YoungBoy’s attorney reportedly denies that any of the weapons belong to the rapper.

Travis Scott Is Eyeing A $14 Million Lambo, Praises Kylie Jenner & Stormi’s Car Collections

We’ve all seen bits of the rapper’s extensive car collection that includes some of the most coveted luxury vehicles around the world. From limited edition to one-of-a-kind whips, Travis Scott is often seen riding around in the best of the best. “Different cars excite me for different reasons, right? Like, I always wanted a LaFerrari and I always wanted the convertible version of it. When I finally got it—the Aperta—I was so happy,” he said. He added that he customizes his vehicles. “And then I found myself my G-Wagon Cabriolet, which we used for this shoot. I thought Aw man, it’s so cool a convertible truck. Beach vibes! I also have the Range Rover SVAutobiography, which is an everyday type of ride. I love all of my cars, but [my three-year-old daughter] Stormi and her mom [Kylie Jenner] have one of the illest collections, too. It inspires me every day.”

There is one ride that he has his eye on and it doesn’t come cheap. “At this point, I can say that I would be getting super, super detailed to the vehicle, because I think I have a mix of all the sports cars I’ve ever wanted,” said Scott. “There is this Lambo that looks like f*cking Batman, but I’m not going to lie to you…it’s like $14 million.”

Scott shared stories of having less than reliable transportation growing up, but he refuted claims that it influenced his love of luxury rides today. “The lack of the car didn’t make or break me. I think the goal was inspiring in general, but I’ve always had an interest in them,” said the rapper. “I’m into design and colors and the vibes that a car can give you. They are like an extension of yourself. But just because you have the most expensive car in the world, it doesn’t mean that you have swag or that you’re not a douchebag.”

Melle Mel Explains Why Biggie Wouldn’t Be Successful In Early Rap Scene

Just like clockwork, the “who is the greatest” conversation in Rap has reared its ugly head. These conversations often spark varying opinions about what era of Hip Hop is the best and what artists are the greatest to ever pick up a mic, and Rap legend Melle Mel is weighing in regarding the influence of late icons Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. Mel recently sat down with VladTV for an extensive interview and during their chat, the two men engaged in a debate about whether or not certain artists would have been successful during Rap’s infant stages.

Vlad argued that Biggie “could have been great in any era” but Mel disagreed. “Saying what he said right now, back then when it ain’t no—it’s only guys that did Rap and Hip Hop and then it’s all the tough guys. You couldn’t say that around them. You couldn’t talk about selling drugs around them. They would probably kill you just on that.”

“If you got on the mic talking about who you gonna kill and it’s only dancers and killer out there, you know, real street guys, and you got on the mic talkin’ about who you gonna kill,” he continued. “And it’s not like you got your little crew and your little entourage and all that. The same guys that’s holding you down is the guys that’s over there.”

Melle Mel explained that the street guys would often intimidate artists with threats of violence if they didn’t get shoutouts on records. “What are these n*ggas gonna do when they do that to them? What are they gon’ do? Except for invent the shoutout like we did.” Mel doubled down that being a tough guy on the mic and rapping about certain subjects was out of the question, no matter who the person was. Michelle Obama, DJ Khaled Urging Americans To Support Sweeping Voting Rights Bill

Former first lady Michelle Obama and a host of celebrities, including Tom Hanks, Tracee Ellis Ross and Kerry Washington, are calling on Americans to encourage their senators to support a sweeping voting rights package that would thwart efforts by Republican state lawmakers to curb access to the ballot box.

In an open letter published Tuesday by When We All Vote, a nonpartisan organization committed to voter registration that Obama co-chairs, the former first lady and a slew of celebrity signatories urge “Americans of conscience and goodwill to join us in taking a stand for voting rights and to put the power more firmly in the hands of the people.”

“We are asking you to join us by calling on your senators to pass the For the People Act immediately,” the letter reads in part.

The For the People Act, aims to expand voting access nationwide. It would bar states from restricting the ability to vote by mail and, among other provisions, call for states to use independent redistricting commissions to create congressional district boundaries. The new bill also includes measures to protect against foreign interference in elections.

“What’s happening is this: After more Americans than ever voted in the last presidential election, some state leaders believe that silencing them is the only way to maintain their grip on power,” the letter, shared Tuesday, states. “They’re hoping to choose their voters, rather than the other way around. And if we as Americans stand idly by if we wait for others to act or we refuse to do so with anything other than clear purpose and full-hearted patriotism they will succeed.”

Many notable celebrities have openly shared their support for The For the People Act. Janelle Monáe, Kerry Washington, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Selena Gomez, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Amandla Stenberg, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Stephen Curry, Ayesha Curry, Carmelo Anthony, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Common, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Issa Rae, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Kal Penn, Keke Palmer, Laverne Cox, Leonardo DiCaprio, LL Cool J, Martin Lawrence, Regina King, Ryan Reynolds, Shaquille O’Neal, Taraji P. Henson, The Roots, Yara Shahidi, are just some of the few.

You can read the open letter in its entirety below.

“To the American People:

We write to you today as citizens who love this country and care deeply about its future. And right now, the most important thing we can do to protect that future is to rise together in support of the For the People Act currently before the Senate—the most significant piece of legislation to strengthen our democracy since the Civil Rights movement.

On January 6th, a violent mob laid siege to our nation’s Capitol, determined to overturn the results of a presidential election that their preferred candidate lost. It was a shocking and outrageous assault on our democracy—and a sobering reminder that we can no longer take our system of self-government for granted. In the months since, a new president and vice president were sworn in and some insurrectionists are now facing justice for their roles in that historic day of shame.

Yet we cannot act as if the threat to American democracy has passed.

Already this year, in state houses across the country, more than 250 bills spread across 43 states have been introduced to further weaken our democracy and make it more difficult for Americans to vote. These bills seek to make it harder to register to vote and cast a ballot by limiting early and mail-in voting and setting up more barriers that particularly impact Black, Brown, and young people. Some of these undemocratic measures have already become law, with others surely to follow.

What’s happening is this: After more Americans than ever voted in the last presidential election, some state leaders believe that silencing them is the only way to maintain their grip on power. They’re hoping to choose their voters, rather than the other way around. And if we as Americans stand idly by—if we wait for others to act or we refuse to do so with anything other than clear purpose and full-hearted patriotism—they will succeed.

Our nation was founded on the idea that as citizens, we should be able to determine our nation’s destiny. Generations of Americans have rightly organized, marched, and died to defend that ideal and expand voting and civil rights to women and minorities—a story that continues to this day. Today, the moment calls for us to take up that patriotic call to protect and expand those rights once again. And that’s why we must rally behind the passage of the For the People Act.

This bill is not about choosing one party or one issue over another. It is about commonsense reforms and best practices that make our democracy more open, more fair, and more inclusive. It is about reaffirming our founding principle that we can chart our own course as a nation.

The For the People Act is about moving closer to the America we aspire to be—a land of opportunity where every voice is heard and valued. Among the tremendous progress it promises, this bill will

  • Expand automatic voter registration, adding as many as 50 million people to voter rolls;
  • Expand same-day and online voter registration for federal elections, which are especially important for young people and first-time voters;
  • Allow for pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-olds, so that when they get their driver’s license, they are also registered and ready to vote when they turn 18;
  • Require two weeks of early voting for federal elections, including on the weekends and after work, and increased access to vote-by-mail, so no American has to decide between making their voice heard and earning a living, taking care of their family, or staying safe during a pandemic;
  • Make Election Day a national holiday, making it easier for more Americans to cast a ballot;
  • Restore the right to vote for people with felony convictions, which disproportionately impacts minority communities;
  • Strengthen federal criminal penalties for those who misinform and intimidate people at the polls;
  • Overhaul our campaign finance system to give ordinary Americans a greater voice in the political process and afford a more diverse array of people the opportunity to run; and
  • Ban partisan gerrymandering and discriminatory voter purges.

We applaud the House for passing this bill, and now we urge the Senate to follow suit and do its part to protect our democracy. And if that means eliminating or instituting meaningful reform to the filibuster—a relic of Jim Crow and an arcane chamber rule increasingly abused to create gridlock and forestall progress—the Senate should act. We cannot continue to allow the will of the majority of Americans to be overshadowed by an oppositional few fixated on maintaining power. Because make no mistake, as a recent poll showed, large majorities of Americans support this bill across party lines—including more than half of Republican voters.

So today we call on Americans of conscience and goodwill to join us in taking a stand for voting rights and to put the power more firmly in the hands of the people. We urge every American to remember how it felt to watch as our Capitol was desecrated earlier this year—and to channel that outrage into patriotic duty.

We are asking you to join us by calling on your Senators to pass the For the People Act immediately—you can join our efforts right now at www.WhenWeAllVote.org

Just as those who came before us turned the crack of a baton or the spray of a firehose into a Voting Rights Act; just as those who turned literacy tests, poll taxes, and other forms of discrimination into organized, concrete, and hopeful action on behalf of their votes, we too can make our mark on history. We too can right wrongs in our time and pave the way for those who come after us.

We can do so much better as a country. But we’ll never be able to do it alone. Now is our best chance to protect and strengthen our democracy and put power back where it belongs—with the people. We ask you to stand with us.

With hope,

When We All Vote Co-Chairs, Ambassadors and Supporters”

Chance The Rapper Once Received $5,000 From The Man Who Found Shrimp In His Cinnamon Toast Crunch

If you’ve spent a decent amount of your Tuesday on Twitter, you more than likely caught some portion of the growing story between Jensen Karp and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It began when Karp posted an image of what he said were dried shrimp tails that he discovered in his box of cereal. He reached out to the brand’s Twitter account and was able to get a response, but it wasn’t the one he hoped for. As a result, he took his cereal box findings to a lab to confirm it. The entire thing was written about in The Washington Post and while we wait to see how this plays out, there are more details coming out about Karp that continue to shock people.

After hearing who was the owner of the shrimpy Cinnamon Toast Crunch box, Chance The Rapper hopped on Twitter to share an encounter he had with Karp early in his career. “Fun fact,” he said. “The Cinnamon Toast Crunch shrimpy guy gave me 5 racks to shoot a video back when I still had a nose ring.” Just in case you didn’t believe him, Chance posted the tweet with a video that shows him receiving the $5,000 check from Karp and celebrating afterward. The track that got the visual treatment was Chance’s “Na Na” collaboration with Action Bronson from his 2013 tape Acid Rap.

That’s not the only celebrity connection Karp has. People also learned on Tuesday that his wife is Danielle Fishel Karp — yes, the woman who played Topanga, the love interest of Ben Savage’s Cory Matthews, on the beloved teen sitcom Boy Meets World.
