Tragedy has struck the football community this week as Texas Longhorns linebacker Jake Ehlinger was found dead at the age of 20, on Thursday. Jake was the brother of Sam Ehlinger who used to be the quarterback for the Longhorns. Jake came to the team back in 2019 and while he didn’t play over the last two seasons, he was always dressed and ready to go alongside his teammates. Ehlinger passed away at the age of 20 and as it stands, no cause of death has been revealed.

Following the tragedy, Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian gave a statement on Ehlinger’s death and how it is a horrible tragedy. The coach also sent condolences to Ehlinger’s family.

“Words cannot express the depth of our sadness and the huge void we are feeling, but above all else, our hearts pour out to Sam, (mother) Jena, (sister) Morgen and the entire Ehlinger family,” Sarkisian said in a statement. “Jake was a tremendous person and was everything you could ask for in a student-athlete. Being a Longhorn meant everything to him, and he truly embodied all that it means to be one.”

This beef between Coi Leray and Rolling Ray continues even though the rapper has already made her peace. For weeks, social media star Rolling Ray has targeted Leray after she came out with her Pooh Shiesty-assisted single, “Big Purr.” Ray is known for his signature “purr” sound and phrase, and he felt as if the rapper was stealing from him without credit.

Leray made it clear that she didn’t take anything from anyone and didn’t want to engage in and online back and forth over the word “purr,” but Ray hasn’t let up. He made a song of his own with the same title and recently shared that he’s looking for Leray’s doppelgänger to be in his music video.

“Looking for somebody that looks like Cori Le Ray AKA Ecoli for Rolling Ray’s official video shoot for BIG PURRRR! Must rock the braids,” Rolling Ray shared on Instagram. “Light skin females strongly recommended [heart eyes emoji] Pay: $300.” Leray took to her Twitter account to once again address the ongoing controversy.

“This boy is obsessed [face palm emoji],” she wrote. “I would never talk about somebody’s disability. I wouldn’t even wish bad on my worst enemy. Let’s Us Pray [praying hands emoji][red heart emoji].” In another tweet, she added, “I feel bad more than being upset. You just have to let go and let GOD fr! Devil will try you!! Outsmart him !!!”

One of Kanye West’s best Adidas Yeezy shoes to date has to be the 500. This sneaker was revealed back in 2017 and it had its golden age in 2018. There were various great colorways that came out during that time and to this day, fans are always looking forward to new offerings, even if they are a bit rare. We should be getting a couple of new Yeezy 500s soon and later this year, Adidas is reportedly keeping the fun alive as they have plans to restock a well-known OG colorway.

According to the good folks over at Yeezy Mafia, this shoe just so happens to be the Yeezy 500 “Blush” which made its debut over three years ago in February of 2018. This shoe has a mostly soft beige upper that is covered in suede and mesh. All of these materials give the shoe a nice feel to it and if you’re a fan of chunky dad shoes, then this is most certainly a model that you can get behind.

A deleted photo by Serena Williams is still being discussed by social media users. Earlier this week, the tennis icon posed for a few photos she shared on Instagram, and people immediately targeted Williams’s look. Soon, she was hit with accusations of skin bleaching or applying makeup to make herself seem lighter, and the memes seemed unending. Without explanation or addressing the controversy, Serena deleted the photos, but Wack 100 took a moment to address his concerns regarding self-acceptance within the Black community.

“To each his own but I don’t wanna believe this – And if this picture is authentic I wanna say WE AS A RACE have to look at ourselves,” Wack 100 wrote.

“We are the first ones to make jokes about a BIG NOSE or LIPS or Kinky hair or how BLACK one is,” he continued. “This makes a person say will is this is wrong that over there is right ! BEAUTY IS OUR BEAUTY. A Asian woman features may be unattractive to another races eyes but BEAUTIFUL to that RACES eyes.”

He added that he didn’t pen his message in an attempt to bash anyone but he hoped that people would learn something “so maybe we won’t have another one of our public figures trapped in the twilight zone.” Check out the post below.

Details regarding the murder of Pop Smoke were released yesterday (May 7), and it has caused the rapper’s loved ones to once again relive the unexpected tragedy. During a preliminary hearing for suspect Corey Walker, the 20-year-old allegedly involved in the home invasion in February 2020 that resulted in the rapper’s death, a detective shared that Pop Smoke was in the shower when he was killed. 

A woman was reportedly in the bedroom and told authorities that someone held a gun to her head as the other suspects caught Pop in the shower, forced him out, and shot him. Then, the rapper was reportedly kicked until he found his footing and ran, but the assailants continued in their pursuit and shot him multiple times. Pop later died during major surgery.

Pop Smoke’s brother, Obasi Jackson, reacted to the report over on Instagram and shared that he was disappointed in those who claimed to be in Pop’s corner. “Somethings not right about this case!” wrote Obasi. “The info not matching and ppl moving crazy. Bashar on God we getting to the bottom of it I’m sorry da real wasn’t with you.I’m sorry you said n*ggas would shoot back and they didn’t. I’m sorry you thought nighas would fight for you and theyre not even doing that in death.”

In the caption, Obasi added, “I tried to warn you bout this gang sh*t… I should’ve tried harder. It’s not fair how they doing you and I’m not allowing people to say they love you without proper recognition to you or the family!!!”

One of the more outdated memes on the internet is “doge.” The meme is of a random Shiba Inu that is definitely cute but also very confused. As Bitcoin began to get more popular, Dogecoin was created as an internet-based cryptocurrency that could be held by anyone willing to invest. At first, the coin was virtually worthless as it was only going for about a fraction of a cent. However, throughout this current market cycle, influencers like Elon Musk have been promoting Dogecoin quite a bit, and it has elevated the coin to heights no one ever thought were possible.

Over the past week or so, Dogecoin has exploded past 50 cents and fans have been pushing for it to hit a full $1. If that were to happen, some of the earliest investors would see returns of about 1000x which is truly insane. Today, Dogecoin pushed yet another new all-time high as it officially hit $0.75, much to the delight of investors everywhere.

With Elon Musk appearing on Saturday Night Live tomorrow, many believe he is going to try and promote the coin, which has led to a massive speculative rise to the upside. If this trend continues, it seems all but guaranteed that Dogecoin could hit $1 by tomorrow. Of course, none of this is financial advice.

In the midst of this bull run, Dogecoin continues to prove people wrong.

LeBron James is about to star in Space Jam: A New Legacy and fans are excited to see what kind of vibe the new movie will bring. Some are skeptical about the existence of this new film while others are hoping to see quite a bit of nostalgia once it hits the big screen. Over the past few months, LeBron has been doing a ton of promotion for the movie, and it seems like he is over the moon about this new opportunity.

Recently, James came through with a cryptic tweet that seemed to be an immediate reference to Bugs Bunny and Space Jam. While some interpreted it as his mindset heading into the playoffs, there is no denying that his tweet was quite ambiguous in terms of what he actually meant.

This ambiguity led to a whole slew of memes on Twitter and overall, they were quite hilarious. Most of these memes were still of old Looney Tunes cartoons in which Bugs Bunny was wielding various weapons. There were also some funny jokes about what this new “Space Jam” movie is going to be about and how it could be a lot more violent than we originally thought.

Twitter is always quick with the memes and at this point, that won’t change anytime soon.
