The Weeknd Changes His Profile Picture On Instagram & Sparks Album Rumors

Despite his now-infamous snubs at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, The Weeknd has enjoyed a landmark career year throughout 2021. Having headlined the Super Bowl, racked up a slew of platinum plaques, and made Billboard chart history, the Canadian singer-songwriter has had an awe-inspiring run over the past four months, especially considering that he has only released one song this year. Thus, it’s only fitting that he was honored at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday.

Having also performed at the award show, The Weeknd recently took to his Instagram to promote his BRIT appearance, posting various clips of himself singing “Save Your Tears” and Michelle Obama presenting his BRIT award. However, his subsequent posts and abrupt profile picture change have fans thinking that something much bigger is happening.

At a quick glance, it appears that The Weeknd’s last few posts are simply meant to promoting his recent virtual performance for the BRIT Awards, but the artist’s vague captions have led fans to believe that Abel is gearing up to drop a new album. Mere weeks ago, The Weeknd teased that he might release the “magic” that he recorded during quarantine, so perhaps The Weeknd’s latest Instagram posts are confirmation that those tunes are in fact on the way after all.

In his most recent Instagram post, The Weeknd posted a still from his BRIT Awards performance, which features a dark shot of him facing the camera in his strange fisherman-style getup, and for the caption, the After Hours artist wrote, “the dawn is coming….” The photo now doubles as his profile picture, so check it out below.

What do you think — is The Weeknd teasing a new project or is he simply promoting his recent performance at the BRIT Awards?

Trial Delayed For Three Ex-Cops Charged In George Floyd’s Death

Derek Chauvin was convicted of the murder of George Floyd by the State of Minnesota on April 20, but that is not the end of the road for justice. His June 25 sentencing is only the first step of many.

Fellow ex-cops and former colleagues, Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane, who assisted Chauvin in the arrest, and ultimately, the death of Floyd, still have to face trial for their roles in his murder, too.

Recently released federal indictments charged all four officers with violating the constitutional rights of George Floyd. Now the ex-cops are not only subject to state trial, but also this additional federal charge.

While Chauvin is meeting his fate, the three other men involved still remain free on bond with no convictions. Thao, Kueng, and Lane have been granted a longer term to remain free of the consequences of their actions. What’s more, it’s being reported today that the trial that was expected to occur this August has now been delayed until March 2022.

Minnesota Judge Peter Cahill reportedly said, The three men deserve “space” from the publicity expected to arise from Chauvin’s sentencing next month, according to the NYDailyNews. Judge Cahill reportedly also suggested that the federal cases should be wrapped up first before a state trial involving all three officers begins.

Case Prosecutor Matthew Frank didn’t agree with the judge’s choice to delay the trial.

As previously reported, Chauvin was also recently charged for use of a dangerous weapon resulting in bodily injury of a juvenile from a 2017 incident involving a Black teenager. There is no set timeline for that case.

Stay tuned for updates as the situation continues to develop.

Air Jordan 4 “Oreo” Hit With Yet Another Release Date Delay

If you are a big fan of the Air Jordan line, then you probably love the Air Jordan 4. It is one of the cleanest and most straightforward models to ever be produced and over the last few decades, it has continuously received a lot of love and some amazing colorways. With the summer on the horizon, Jumpman is gearing up for a ton of new colorways to be given to the masses, and one of the most heavily teased versions is the “Oreo” offering which can be found below.

This model is a lot like the original “Cement” Air Jordan 4 except there is a lot less black and red. Instead, we are met with a predominantly white upper all while the midsole and lace holders have that signature grey and black speckle look to them. When you combine these elements together, you are left with a shoe that has a lot of wearability and we’re sure fans will be eager to get their hands on them upon release.

This shoe has been made privy to various release date changes and now, it is getting yet another delay. Instead of dropping on June 19th, the new date has been set for July 3rd. Keep it locked to HNHH as we will continue to bring you the latest updates on these.

Mally Mall Sentenced To 33 Months In Prison For Running Prostitution Ring: Report

Having worked with music industry giants from Drake to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Mally Mall has enjoyed a long and successful career as a record producer. However, things haven’t been looking too good for Mally Mal since his house raided in 2019 following accusations of human trafficking and harboring exotic animals. Following the raid and his subsequent arrest, the decorated producer eventually plead guilty in the federal Las Vegas prostitution case.

He was originally scheduled to be sentenced in 2020, but last year, Mally Mall reportedly endured a pretty nasty case of COVID-19 last year, which ultimately delayed the final sentencing in his case. Now, news has broken that the accomplished producer has reportedly received his sentence.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Mally Mall has been sentenced to two years and nine months in prison, which tallies up to 33 months behind bars. As previously reported, the Hip-Hop producer had previously pled guilty to one count of using of an interstate facility in aid of unlawful activity, but prosecutors claimed that Mally Mall had contacted one of the victims as recently as this week and pushed for a max sentencing under the plea rather than the 24 months proposed by Mall’s attorney.

According to the LVRJ, the presiding judge, U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro, warned the producer that this was his last opportunity to turn over a new leaf, saying, “I hope this really takes. I hope you get this message. You’ve just been really lucky. You will spend the rest of your life in prison if you do this again.”

Mally Mall reportedly has until August 13 at 2 p.m. to surrender, and immediately after his prison term, he will face three years of supervision. Stay tuned for more updates.

Internet Money Reunites With Don Toliver And Gunna On ‘His & Hers’ Featuring Lil Uzi Vert

Last year, hit-making production duo Internet Money shut down the summertime with their single “Lemonade” featuring Don Toliver, Gunna, and Nav, proving their penchant for tapping directly into the pleasure centers of audiences’ brains. Today, nine months after their alchemical formula made them a household name, they’ve reunited with their superstar partners Don Toliver and Gunna on “His & Hers,” swapping out Nav for Lil Uzi Vert for another mathematical colalboration poised to take over the Hot 100 chart.

Internet Money’s Taz Taylor has been hyping the track for weeks and spent most of the day tweeting out tidbits of information about the track’s production and development. He says it took over 10 months to complete, that he changed the tempo of the track because historically songs have done better at a higher rate of BPMs than it was originally recorded, and that he credited every person who had a hand in its creation, no matter their contribution.

Meanwhile, all three featured artists are poised for a huge year as well. After they all dropped well-received albums in 2020, they have each teased new material to come. Don Toliver started the rollout for his second album with “What You Need,” Gunna made multiple appearances on YSL’s Slime Language 2 compilation, and Lil Uzi Vert promised his new album would come “soon,” contributing features to Bebe Rexha and Justin Bieber.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Skrillex Drops His Second New Single Of The Week, ‘Too Bizarre’ Featuring Swae Lee And Siiickbrain

Earlier this week Skrillex dropped his first new music since 2019, “Butterflies” featuring the almighty Starrah and fellow electronic producer Four Tet. The glitchy, house track was full of glittery vocals from Starrah, and seemed to fit firmly back into the electronic lane, even if the artist born Sonny Moore revamped his old emo project a few years ago, that didn’t seem to be the direction he was going in this year.

Except, wait, maybe it is? On the second new single of the week, “Too Bizarre,” Moore is joined by Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd and Siiickbrain, an upcoming songwriter, on a track that’s immediately guitar heavy, and a video that kicks off with Sonny grabbing the guitar himself to kick off a basement show. It’s very likely now that we’re going to be getting a whole new record from Skrillex with two new songs and lots of other big names involved. Of the two tracks, this one is the obvious frontrunner, combining Swae’s rap-singing and Siiickbrain’s screaming interlude into one epic piece of chaos. So check out his new punk-rap-leaning song above and keep your ear to the ground for more info on whatever Moore has coming next. Maybe there’s an emo collab coming, too.

Coi Leray Goes On A Skate Date With DDG And OG Parker In Their Slick ‘Impatient’ Video

Two emerging talents join forces in the skating rink-set video for DDG and OG Parker’s “Impatient” video, as the rapper-producer team links up with “No More Parties” viral virtuoso Coi Leray for a slick, nostalgic clip that brings to mind the roller resurgence of the mid-2000s. Shot by Reel Goats, the video opens on a sweeping shot of the roller rink exterior straight out of ATL, as young people gather and socialize outside before heading inside for some blacklight-washed laps around the rink.

Coi Leray plays an attention-grabbing newcomer who joins DDG on the parquet for a couple’s skate as they perform their respective verses. They also shoot a dance video off the skate floor, turning the video into a quasi-TikTok post and setting the song up for potential viral hit status, should the dance catch on.

Both artists know a bit about that: Coi’s last two big singles started out as favorites on the youth-focused app; while “No More Parties” brought her mainstream acclaim, the Pooh Shiesty-featuring “Big Purr” turned its title into a social media catchphrase. Additionally, Coi co-stars in the video for another TikTok hit, Mooski’s “Track Star.” Meanwhile, DDG’s “Moonwalking In Calabasas” likewise backs a number of videos while racking up millions of views in various incarnations on YouTube.

J. Cole Reveals “The Off-Season” Tracklist & Producers

It’s time. J. Cole’s The Off-Season arrives at midnight, heralded by an incendiary L.A. Leakers freestyles and a pair of pre-release singles. Hours ahead of the big release, Cole took to Instagram to unveil the official tracklist, which features twelve tracks and (unsurprisingly) no features. At least none that we know of, though it wouldn’t be surprising to see Cole carry on the tradition in that regard.

Of the twelve songs, fans have already seen “i n t e r l u d e” and “the climb back,” the latter of which released all the way back in July of 2020. The project is executive produced by J. Cole, Ibrahim Hamad, and T-Minus, who is among the many producers contributing to Cole’s cause. On that note, J. Cole also happened to share the fourteen producers involved in the beat-making — Timbaland, Boi-1da, DJ Dahi, Jake One, Frank Dukes, Tae Beast, Maneesh, Wa1o, Sucuki, Coleman, Tommy Parker, Mario Luciano, T-Minus, and himself.

As it stands, The Off-Season, the first of three J. Cole pre-retirement releases, is among the year’s biggest drops. Based on everything we’ve heard, be it from Cole’s labelmates (Cozz and Bas declared it to be among his best work) or the man himself (who recently teased that his confidence was at an all-time high), he’s at the top of his game. It should be interesting to see how the early reactions unfold, and it should make for one of hip-hop’s most exciting nights so far.

Check out the tracklist and production credits below, and be sure to sound off in the comments with your expectations for The Off-Season.
