The parties involved in this incident haven’t yet come forward to speak on their own behalfs, but Brittany Byrd’s manager has shared one side of the story. On Friday (July 2), shocking news surfaced regarding a reported physical altercation involving Lil Uzi Vert, his ex-girlfriend Brittany Byrd, and singer SAINt JHN. We previously reported on the story that Byrd and SAINt JHN were at a business luncheon reportedly discussing a project when, according to Byrd’s manager, Brianna, Uzi stormed inside and made a scene.

The Shade Room spoke with Brianna who alleged that Uzi pointed a gun at Byrd’s chest and repeatedly punched his ex. Byrd and Uzi haven’t spoken in months according to the manager, but there was a recent exchange involving Byrd and JT on social media that caused a stir.

“Brittany has been trying to focus on her life and career,” said Brianna. When asked how Uzi knew that Brittany was at the cafe in West Hollywood, Brianna claimed the rapper has been following his ex-girlfriend. “Uzi has been stalking Brittany since they broke up. Their 2021 BET Awards performance went off without a hitch while cameras were rolling, but behind the scenes, the City Girls were having major problems. The lady looking at me like, well, we finna just skip over y’all.” Miami recalled the entire ordeal as being frustrating. “Right before it’s time to go on. So, in that moment I’m like, here it go again. Here go some bullsh*t.”

“Lovecraft Country” Canceled By HBO After One Season

It’s a sad day for fans of Lovecraft Country. The famed HBO series was applauded for its innovative storyline but unfortunately, it was announced on Friday (July 2) that the network wouldn’t be moving forward with a second season. The series stars Jurnee Smollett and Jonathan Majors and is an adaptation of Matt Ruff’s 2016 novel of the same name. The horror-thriller is inspired by the writing of H.P. Lovecraft and followed the story of a Black man in the 1950s who travels throughout the South during a time of Jim Crow and segregation, unearthing secrets that some would believe were better left untold.

According to Deadline, HBO issued a statement regarding not wanting to continue their relationship with production.

“We will not be moving forward with a second season of Lovecraft Country,” HBO said in a statement. “We are grateful for the dedication and artistry of the gifted cast and crew, and to Misha Green, who crafted this groundbreaking series. And to the fans, thank you for joining us on this journey.”

Lovecraft Country was executive produced by Jordan Peele through his Moneypaw Productions company as well as J.J. Abrams via Bad Robot, and it’s unclear what the future may hold for the series. In recent years, there have been several successful shows that have been canceled from streaming services after only one season, and that may be a strategic move by networks.

Some theorize that new shows cause a spike in subscribers to their streaming networks including Netflix, Hulu, Paramount+, and the like, but second seasons don’t necessarily bring in the same attention and end up costing more to produce. Some series are axed with new shows being added in droves to continue the increase of sales. Fans are hoping that Lovecraft Country finds a home elsewhere, but that has yet to be seen.

Ice Cube & Warner Bros. Are At A Stalemate Over “Friday” Franchise: Report

If Ice Cube and Warner Bros. can’t come to some sort of agreement, we may never see the return of the Friday franchise. There has been a call for Friday to follow up on its last film, and while the next installment was reportedly greenlit years ago, Cube has been at odds with New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. In May 2019, Cube revealed that the script for the next film was finished, however, getting things to move forward has proven difficult.

Further adding to the delay were the deaths of two icons: John Witherspoon and Tommy “Tiny” Lister. Still, there are plans to move forward without the franchise’s beloved actors, but the Wall Street Journal recently reported that things are getting tense between Cube and Warner Bros.

According to the outlet, Cube has requested that Warner “surrender its rights to the ‘Friday’ property and to two other movies he made there—’All About the Benjamins’ and ‘The Players Club.'” The WSJ claimed that they have read through correspondences between the two parties, and it seems that they’ve each blamed the other for the lack of movement.

Warner reportedly responded to Cube, stating that they have no plans on relinquishing their rights to any of those aforementioned films. The Rap mogul’s attorneys were said to have told Warner that they’ve been “excessive in its feedback notes” regarding the script for the next Friday film. However, Warner reported retorted in a statement that Cube is “unjustly” trying to “obtain its intellectual property.” They also accuse Cube of being distracted with his other projects, including his Big3 basketball league.

Cube reportedly accused the studio of discrimination, as well, alleging that his films have been “habitually underfunded.” Warner denied the accusations. “We strongly disagree with any claims of discriminatory treatment, and stand by our ongoing and proven commitment to support diverse voices and storytellers and will continue to do so as we move forward.”

We’ll just have to wait a bit longer to see how this pans out.
