Vince Staples Shares Self-Titled Album Ft. Fousheé

On the heels of his L.A. Leakers freestyle that stormed social media, Vince Staples has dropped his self-titled album. Ahead of its release, the project was already receiving rave reviews from critics and the album does not disappoint. The California rapper’s off-the-cuff remarks in interviews or conversations have gone down in meme history, but his prolific delivery and innovative approach to lyricism are why Staples is hailed as one of the most respected artists in the Rap game.

In an interview last week, Staples spoke about the essence of his music. “I wasn’t used to being comfortable at all. I didn’t like making music,” he said. “If you listen to a lot of the older stuff, it was very monotonous and a little offbeat. I was just unenthused, because it was a weird position to be in. When I first started doing shows, it wasn’t easy. I would be checking my phone mid-performance and not looking at the crowd.”

“I still don’t like when people look at me or talk to me,” he continued. “I was never an outgoing person. I’m still not. It was something I had to learn. I used to go on tour and Schoolboy Q would be like, “Your music’s too slow, you need to do this, you need to do that.” And it’s like, do you have to have music that people jump around to? Personally, I don’t jump around, I don’t dance, I’m calm all the time.”

The album hosts one feature from Fousheé. Stream Vince Staples and let us know what you think.

Kandi Burruss Wrote “Bills, Bills, Bills” About An Ex Who Was Dating A Member Of Destiny’s Child

She isn’t just considered an icon because of her involvement in the R&B group Xscape, but due to Kandi Burruss helping to create some of our favorite hits. The singer and Real Housewives of Atlanta star worked with several artists throughout her career, and when girl groups were on the come up, Burruss penned hits like TLC’s “No Scrubs” and a slew of Destiny’s Child’s songs including “Bills, Bills, Bills.”

In a recent interview with Glamour, Burruss took a walk down memory lane and shared five unknown facts about five songs that she wrote, including “Bills, Bills, Bills” from Destiny’s Child’s sophomore studio album The Writing’s on the Wall.

The lead single of the album was also written by She’kspere and Destiny’s Child, and Burruss told the magazine that she pulled from her real-life experience to help pen the track. “When I got with the girls at the studio, we were singing them the idea,” said Burruss. “I had the melody of how I felt like the verse should go, and we came together for the lyrics.”

“I use a lot of my past relationships as inspiration. The relationship I had been in prior to [writing the song], I took inspiration from it…though I didn’t tell them that,” she continued. “Now, this is the really funny part: One of the girls that was in the group was dating my ex at the time. So I didn’t tell them that some of the lyrics in there were inspired by him.”

“The part that was a clear inspiration—using my phone and pretending like he didn’t use it, driving my car and not putting any gas in it—that was real stuff that had happened to me!” However, Burruss refused to give any details regarding who the man might be, leaving fans to speculate about his identity.

The song would later earn the girl group two Grammy Award nominations for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals. Check out the music video to the 1999 single below.

Wendy Williams Dragged For Insensitive Reporting On TikTok Star Swavy’s Murder

The 4th of July weekend ended in tragedy for the family of Matima Miller, better known as “Swavy” and “Babyface” online. The popular TikTok star boasts millions of followers on the video-centered app, and he was mourned by the tens of thousands of fans who couldn’t believe he was gone. According to reports, it was on Monday (July 5) when police responded to a scene in Delaware where Miller had been gunned down. There haven’t been many updates or details regarding the shooting shared by investigators, but Wendy Williams used the story on her “Hot Topics” and it didn’t bode over well with the public.

Williams’s “Hot Topics” segment has often gotten her into trouble, and this time around, people called out the talk show host’s insensitivity.

To begin, Williams asked her studio audience to “clap” if they knew who Swavy was. A few sparse reactions came from her audience before Williams went on to ask her adoring employees if they were familiar with the TikTok star. They weren’t, and the host noted that Swavy has 2.5 million followers on TikTok, more than she does.

She was reminded that she has more followers than Swavy on Instagram, a fact that was applauded, and throughout the entire cringe-worthy conversation, a photo of Swavy stood in the background before Williams acknowledged that he had been murdered. Soon, the clip went viral on several social media platforms as people were in disbelief that Williams would be outwardly concerned about her follower count rather than the deceased 19-year-old.

Check out the clip, and a few reactions, below.

Bill Cosby Accusers Are “Disgusted” & “Sickened” By Actor’s Release From Prison

He’s fresh out of prison after serving years for a sexual assault conviction, but Bill Cosby is a busy man. Some may believe that the 83-year-old disgraced comedian should take a break following his ordeal, but Cosby and Co. have been reportedly revving up his schedule. There are reports about a docuseries and a comedy tour in the upcoming days, and while his supporters have been celebrating his release, eight of the 60 women who made accusations against the industry veteran are not happy about the outcome of the case.

The women appeared for a joint interview with NBC News on Thursday (July 8) and didn’t hold back on vocalizing their emotions regarding the case.

“I’m angry at the legal system,” Victoria Valentino said. “We put our necks on the line and then the legal system yanked the rug out from under us.” Marcella Tate reiterated those sentiments. “I’m feeling frustrated,” said Tate. “And upset because I feel like a bully has been let go.”

“I’m concerned for the victims of sexual assault, that they will have that attitude of why bother?” asked Barbara Bowman. “Why bother telling my story?” Added Lili Bernard, “This is not about race, it’s about rape. The only place that race plays into this is the fact that Bill Cosby was disproportionately targeting Black women.”

Other women stated they were “sickened” and “disgusted.” Check out a clip from the interview below.

Erica Mena Is In Hospital With Newborn As Safaree Is Spotted Partying In Jamaica

The latest season ofLove & Hip Hop Atlanta is underway and out of the gate, the series is addressing the marriage issues between Safaree Samuels and Erica Mena. Months ago, the couple announced that they were divorcing, for real this time, and their troubles have unraveled as information about their split becomes available. It is all being rehashed on VH1, and it shows that Safaree may have underestimated just how time-consuming being a father truly is.

Recently, Erica took to Instagram to call out Joe Budden’s ex-girlfriend Kaylin Garcia, accusing her of carrying on a sexual relationship with Safaree. Erica gave birth days prior, and on Thursday (July 8), she shared a touching post where she revealed she has been in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for the last 10 days tending to the health of her and Safee’s newborn while he’s been seen out partying.

“Legend Brian Samuels & Mommy staying STRONG,” wrote Mena in a lengthy caption. “So far five out of the ten days I felt lost. I’m feeling guilty, confused and scared. I’ve been getting phone calls and receiving messages. I’m asked a million times how I’m doing and if I’m ok. But how can you be doing? Can you really be ok right now? BUT I Remind myself , they love me and they are reaching out BECAUSE they love me. They might not understand, but they want to. This journey I’m on, feels long. It has been tough. I’m taking steps forward, and I’m taking some back.I have good days, and I’m preparing for the bad ones.”

The mother of three explained that she is focused on “protecting my peace” and turning her “pain into power.” Mena added, “King – Safire – Legend I promise you your mommy will make you proud. No more settling and fighting for anything that doesn’t deserve me only because you three forever deserve the best of me.”

Meanwhile, it is rumored that Safaree is in Jamaica turning up for his birthday. Check out her post below.
