Beyoncé, ROSALÍA & The Weeknd Lead The “R&B Season” Playlist

We’re practically halfway through November. In a matter of time, we’ll be diving into the holiday season and a much-needed break to spend time with family and friends. However, it also means that we’re inching towards the end of the year and there are a few artists who appear to be revving up for the release of new music, many of them A-listers that we haven’t heard from since the pandemic started. Most are likely waiting for 2022 to drop a new album but fortunately, some have offered a taste of what’s to come.

Beyoncé has surprisingly brought plenty of new music to fans in the years since Lemonade including her joint effort with Jay-Z, Everything Is Love. However, she’s also blessed fans with some solo music in the form of the Lion King soundtrack. Her latest release is another contribution to a soundtrack in support of King Richard. On Friday, she blessed fans with her latest single, “Be Alive.”

Meanwhile, The Weeknd has been on a heavy feature run. Following collabs with Kanye West, Swedish House Mafia, and Post Malone, he’s back with ROSALÍA for her latest single, “LA FAMA.”

Along with both Beyoncé and The Weeknd, we also highlighted even more music off of Summer Walker’s new album, Still Over It

Soulja Boy Fact Checks Lil Yachty’s Latest “First Rapper” Claim

If you’re going to claim to be the first rapper to do anything, you’d better check in with Big Draco first.

Most recently, Lil Yachty linked up with director Cole Bennet to shoot the visuals for his “Yae Energy” track, capturing the entire flick on an iPhone. In promotion of the clip, Yachty took to Twitter to state that he’s the “first signed rapper to shoot a video fully on the iPhone.”

It didn’t take long, however, for Soulja Boy to quickly debunked the claim, replying to Yachty that he had accomplished the feat long ago and that he did it before Yachty was ever signed.

While many artists have previously taken advantage of the video-shooting capabilities of the iPhone to create their own music videos, Yachty may have a point in being the first rapper signed to a major label to do so –at least in such a public manner.

The new drop is a Buddah Bless-produced loosie that Yachty used to bring his long-awaited vision to fruition. Fans will recall that in the behind-the-scenes footage of Nardo Wick’s “Who Want Smoke?”, a snippet was caught of Yachty actually FaceTimeing Bennett about shooting a music video entirely via iPhone. The final product is the subject Yachty’s latest “Boat Show series on YouTube.

Anderson .Paak Calls Bruno Mars ‘One Of The Greatest Vocalists I’ve Ever Worked With’

After months of build-up, Silk Sonic finally released An Evening With Silk Sonic. The album was preceded by a trio of great singles, “Leave The Door Open,” which topped the singles chart, “Skate,” and “Smokin’ Out The Window.” So far, the reception has been positive. Shortly after it was released, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak stopped by Apple Music to speak about the album.

“Everybody told me the cheat code is linking up with this dude,” .Paak said about Bruno. “Get Bruno on your side, and yeah, it’s dope.” He added, “I tell him all the time I have a lot of trust in him and that felt good too. I felt like a large part of my career I’ve done collabs and everything but it felt good to be able to trust a dude to try it like this – great vocal producer, one of the greatest vocalists I’ve ever worked with and just pushing me to a different level.”

Bruno also spoke about the album’s concept. “We needed this to work,” Bruno said. “We just wanted it to feel like… feel special. Instead of trying to get too cute with the concept.” He added, “It’s like, man, what’s more special than Anderson Paak behind a drum set singing a song and me having his back when it’s my turn, you know? And the band moving in the same direction, it was just like… it’s like a musician’s dream, being in the studio recording a song like that.”

You can watch Silk Sonic’s interview on Apple Music above.

An Evening With Silk Sonic is out now via Atlantic/Aftermath. Get it here.

Lil Wayne Has Another Mixtape Heading To Streaming Services

Lil Wayne defined the mixtape era. From the Dedication tapes to the Da Drought projects, Weezy’s mixtape run truly deserves to be added to the U.S. Library of Congress. Unfortunately, that does fans little service when they can’t even access these projects on their favorite streaming services. Thankfully, Wayne’s team appears to be working towards resolving the matter.

Last year, fans were blessed with the re-release of No Ceilings which finally arrived on streaming platforms. Though some songs didn’t end up getting cleared, the majority of the project is easily found on Apple Music and Spotify. Apparently, there will be another classic Wayne tape that will be available for widespread consumption on digital streaming platforms next year.

“Spoiler alert,” Mack Maine, Weezy’s manager, told Billboard this week. “We have [a mixtape] coming, probably in January.”

He didn’t reveal much information outside of that but, unlike No Ceilings, Wayne and co. managed to clear all of the songs on the tracklist. “Shout-out to the fans. If we could, we’d put all of [the tapes] up in one month,” he continued. “It’s a tedious process. It’s not like a one-day thing. But we’re going to hopefully get all those mixtapes [up].”

Perhaps, it could be one of the Dedication projects. Last year, DJ Drama confirmed that they’re trying to bring the entire series to DSPs after Jae Millz commented on how Wayne never got paid for any of his mixtapes. Still, Maine explained that the mixtape era was great for Weezy’s career, overall.

“The mixtape game has definitely been nice for Wayne and a big part of his career,” Maine says. “You can do whatever you want, say whatever you want, just go bananas. It’s kind of like practice for a lyricist.”

TIDAL Teases Kanye West’s “DONDA (Deluxe)”

For the past few months, there have been whispers of the deluxe edition to DONDA dropping. Mind you, the original album already felt like it could be deluxe with 27-songs in total. However, Ye confirmed that he’s working on releasing bonus tracks with the project in the near future. He teased a portion of one of the songs on Drink Champs while Drake leaked “Life Of The Party” ft. Andre 3000.

It seems like the efforts are ramping up for its release. Over the weekend, billboards in L.A. popped up reading, “Kanye West Presents Donda Deluxe.” No release date has been confirmed but it seems that TIDAL has confirmed that it’s on the way. The Twitter page for the streaming service tweeted out “Kanye West Presents Donda Deluxe” after the billboards started to appear.

This marks the second streaming service to tease its release. Last month, the page for DONDA on Apple Music teased, “A deluxe version of Yeezus’ tenth recording miracle.”

Though Ye’s reliance on billboards to get the message out has clearly worked, the rapper also apparently hired a bunch of look-a-likes to roam the streets of New York City on Saturday night. Fans have been weirded out but it seems like a strong sign that new music from Kanye West is currently on the way.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s 47th Birthday Party Saw Snoop Dogg, Beyoncé, LeBron James & More

On November 11th, one of the world’s greatest actors, Leonardo DiCaprio, turned 47. The Django Unchained actor has been in Hollywood for most of his life, giving him the opportunity to meet and work with plenty of interesting characters over the yeas, many of whom showed up at his party in Beverly Hills on Friday night.

The birthday boy’s girlfriend, Camila Morrone was in attendance, as well as The Batman star Robert Pattinson and his girlfriend, English singer Suki Waterhouse. LeBron James, Beyoncé, and Jay-Z were also at the mansion, and rumour has it that the Grammy-award winning couple were tearing up the dance floor together.

Snoop Dogg made an appearance, sharing several photos and videos from the party on his social media page. “Happy C day Leo,” he captioned a snapshot of the duo posing for the camera. In another clip, the rapper can be seen grooving along to his hit song “Drop It Like It’s Hot” before the DJ transitions into another one of his classics – “Young, Wild & Free” featuring Wiz Khalifa and Bruno Mars.

Just Jared reports that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez helped DiCaprio party the night away. The trio were recently seen mingling at an event, during which Sanchez was caught gazing up at The Great Gatsby star with an all too familiar twinkle in her eye. The moment was caught on video, prompting Bezos send a hilarious “threat” to his famous friend for seemingly charming his partner.

Summer Walker Eyeing No. 1 Debut With Just Over 170K Album Sales

Shortly after the debut of her Still Over It outing, Summer Walker was slated to sit at the No. 1 spot on the charts with predictions placing the LVRN siren at somewhere between 185,000 and 210,000 with an expected 9,000-12,000 in pure album sales.

Now according to Hits Daily Double, those numbers are (un)officially) settled at 177,000 in first week sales for the singer. It surpasses Over It‘s first week sales of 134,000, making it the largest debut for a female R&B singer since Beyoncé’s Lemonade in 2016. The record was previously held by Jhene Aiko for last year’s Chilombo, which clocked at 158,000 in its first week.

In addition, Walker’s debut Over It album is expected to remerge on the chart at No. 26 after a resurgence in interest in Summer’s catalog. Just last week, the album sat at No. 46, continuing to experience a steady rise since the beginning of the rollout for Still Over It and the debut of the JT-assisted “Ex For A Reason.”

Elsewhere on the chart, Key Glock is expected to make his Top 10 debut with Yellow Tape 2, logging over 35,000 album equivalent units and becoming the highest-charting solo debut for the Memphis rapper.

Q Da Fool Doubles Up On “Twin (Deluxe)”

DMV’s Q Da Fool is back with the re-up. The rapper came through with his seven-song project Twin earlier this year. The project included no features whatsoever but it was another effort that highlighted Q Da Fool’s ability to deliver emotionally-potent records that speak to the struggle he experienced.

This week, the rapper returned with the official deluxe edition of the project. Equipped with an additional 9 songs to extend the tracklist to 16 tracks, the rapper continues to hold it down on his own. Snowzart, who appears on “30 Switches,” serves as the sole guest feature on Twin (Deluxe). However, Q Da Fool does bring on a slew of producers likeNamz Beatz, Harto Beats, E Major Unruly, and Juu2x.

Check out the deluxe edition of Q Da Fool’s Twin below.
