On the 28th Anniversary of the Million Man March, which took place on October 16, 2023, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam (NOI) have filed a lawsuit against the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), its CEO Johnathan Greenblatt, the Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC), and Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the SWC. The lawsuit has been brought before the Federal Court of the Southern District of New York, alleging 1st Amendment violations and defamation.

For over four decades, the Defendants have labeled Minister Farrakhan and the NOI as “anti-Semites” and “anti-Semitic,” based on theological differences and Minister Farrakhan’s critiques of some Jewish community members, among other issues. This labeling has impacted Minister Farrakhan’s mission to address African Americans’ spiritual, mental, and moral struggles due to historical oppression.

The lawsuit asserts that this false characterization has also affected various public figures, including Nelson Mandela, President Jimmy Carter, Reverend Jesse Jackson, Bishop Desmond Tutu, and others, whom the Defendants have similarly labeled.

The case is seen as significant in defending all Americans’ freedom of speech, religious practice, and association. Minister Farrakhan will provide further insights into the lawsuit at an upcoming press conference, highlighting the importance of protecting the principles embedded in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
