Master P is a legend of the music industry. However, once upon a time, Percy Miller was fascinated with the game of basketball. At one time, Miller was given the opportunity to play in an NBA pre-season game. But nothing bigger than that ever transpired. Recently, the hip-hop icon sat down with Matt Barnes to discuss the days when Barnes’ attended UCLA. During Barnes’ era with the Bruins, the program was filled with future NBA stars.
Barnes graduated from UCLA in 2002. In his final year with the Bruins, the team made a magical Sweet 16 run as an eighth seed. But the talent was there for that team to achieve an even great post-season. Miller and Barnes reminisced on those days and how the pickup games would sometimes get a little heated. A team with that much talent is bound to have some heated discussions on the hardwood. That Bruins team was led by Jason Kapono, who led the team with 16 points per game.

However, the team had several players averaging double digits in points on the season. The Bruins have long been a blue-blood program of college basketball. A program built by the legendary coach John Wooden. The program holds the record for most national championships by one program, with eleven. However, UCLA saw a dip in its legacy during the 2010s. But as of late have returned to a top program. Including a Final Four trip back in 2021, where the team would lose in heartbreaking fashion to Gonzaga.
The Bruins have a long lineage of basketball royalty. As Master P and Barnes were discussing. However, the talk of top college basketball programs has been a big topic of debate recently.
