Jerry Springer Passes Away At 79

Jerry Springer was one of those people that you always watched while home sick from school. Overall, The Jerry Springer Show was legendary afternoon programming. Every episode would feature wacky characters who would bring their turmoil to the stage. Although some felt like it was an exploitative show, millions found it wildly entertaining. Many of those reading this article owe their lack of childhood boredom to this man. For without him, what else would we watch at 2 PM on a Thursday?

Unfortunately, the television legend has passed away at the age of 79. According to TMZ, Jerry Springer passed away early in the morning on Thursday. Moreover, it is said that he was battling a “brief illness.” However, Springer’s family has not made it clear what that illness was. Regardless, this is incredibly sad news, as Jerry Spring was a true legend of the television world. He will immediately be missed, and we’re sure a lot of people will be impacted by this sudden news.

For those who may not know, the television host also had a fairly lively political career. In 1977, he was elected as the mayor of Cincinnati. Although he only got one term in this position, he was well-liked in his role. However, there is no doubt that his contributions to television are what will always be remembered. The last episode of his show aired back in 2018, and since that time, he has mostly done interviews and podcast appearances. Everywhere he went, he was always paying homage to those who came before him. It’s clear that he was beloved.

While not everyone agreed with the way his show was conducted, he definitely changed the way we see the medium. For that, he will always be remembered.
