Drake Trolled Over Congratulatory Video For LeBron James

Drake is being trolled on Twitter for his congratulations message for LeBron James as the NBA legend surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record. James ended Tuesday night with 38,390 career points. James needed 36 points entering the game to surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record. He finished with 38. The feat wasn’t enough to carry the Lakers to a win, as they lost 133-130 to the Thunder.

The video, which also features Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Rihanna, and Kendrick Lamar, played on NBA on TNT after James accomplished the feat. “LeBron, what a legendary night in NBA history,” Drake starts the clip. “You’re breaking the all-time scoring record, and to honor that, I had to come back to the place it all started: Akron, Ohio. Every journey has it’s beginning, and tonight — ” From there, the background is revealed to be a green screen. Drake is actually still in a nightclub in Miami. “I lied,” Drake admits. “I lied to you. I’m actually still at the club in Miami…congrats, brother. Sorry, sorry.”

Drake’s Message For LeBron

In response to the accomplishment, James thanked everyone for their support and kind words. “Thank you so much. All your help, all your passion, all your sacrifices that helped me get to this point. To the NBA, to Adam Silver, to the late great David Stern, I thank you guys so much for allowing me to be a part of something I’ve always dreamed about. And I would never, ever in a million years dreamt this any better than what it’s been tonight. So… Fuck man, thank you guys.” He finished the night with 38 points along with 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.

As for the reactions from fans, many labeled Drake’s video “cringe.” “Drake looks like the teacher at school that the kids called by his first name,” one user joked. Another wrote, “Smh bro recorded the corniest video for one of the greatest accomplishments we will ever see in sports.” Others defended Drake’s effort: “To everyone on here saying he’s embarrassing ….
