Shaq Details How He Lost 40 Pounds

Shaq is one of the most legendary players in the history of the NBA. Unfortunately, just like many other former athletes, he has gotten out of shape in retirement. Of course, this is par for the course as retired athletes don’t need to maintain their figures anymore.

Overall, Shaq certainly isn’t the worst example of this. His co-host Charles Barkley has certainly been through it more. However, Shaq has still packed on the pounds, which can be concerning for one’s health. As it turns out, Shaq agrees.

Shaq Loses Weight

While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the legendary Laker revealed that he has lost 40 pounds as of late. This is all because a friend had told them that he weighed too much. The basketball star agreed and began to count calories, all while working harder in the gym. So far, so good.

“A friend of mine called me and said, ‘You’re fat,’ and she gave me this guy’s name, and he did some blood work,” Shaq explained. “He was saying, ‘You can do this, you can’t do that, [eat] more vegetables, [your] iron’s low.’ Once I just started changing those certain things, it dropped. It’s all about eating right.”

Kevin Gates Reflects On Weight Loss Journey: “Hard Work Pay Off”

Kevin Gates reflected on his weight loss journey in a post on Instagram, Tuesday, sharing a video he recorded back in 2019 when he was over 300 pounds. Speaking candidly to his followers, Gates explained the harsh toll his body had been taking on his mental health at the time.

“This video was taken on the 22nd day of April 2019,” Gates wrote in the caption. “I was over 300lbs with a set of titties – I was miserable, fat, and, unhappy, and a junky.”

He continued: “I had to find flaws in others to make myself feel okay – until you find true love for self – you can never truly love someone else – I love you all I’m never looking back – slow motion is always better than no motion – hard work pay off break not a day off.”

Back in 2019, Gates had originally said that the decision to focus on losing weight came after one of his friends’ children, “tried to suck on my breast,” which he said, “hurt my fuckin’ feelings.”

As for music, Gates released his first full-length album since 2019, Khaza, earlier this year. The project peaked at number eight on the US Billboard 200 and includes a feature from Juicy J.
