B-Lovee’s ‘Uproxx Sessions’ Performance Of ‘IYKYK’ May Have Been Ice Cold But He’s With All The Smoke

Chief Keef, Lil Durk, and a few other Chicago natives may have birthed hip-hop’s latest subgenre, drill music, but that hasn’t stopped other regions across the globe from making it their own.

Lately, the biggest drill acts hail from the mecca of hip-hop, the Bronx, New York. As fans crown Ice Spice, the princess of the sound, in Kay Flock’s absence from the scene, his childhood friend B-Lovee has upheld the crown for the fellas. B-Lovee’s viral song, “IYKYK,” produced by ChrisSaves, has made him a fixture in New York’s thriving drill scene.

Sampling the hypnotic melody of Wayne Wonder’s “No Letting Go,” in contrast to the B-Lovee’s harsh lyrics, you don’t know whether to dance to the groove or look over your shoulder to ensure to coast is clear. The Bronx native may be cold as ice, but he makes it extremely clear that he’s with all the smoke should it come his way.

NLE Choppa’s ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ’23’ Is A Step Back Into His Musical Start

NLE Choppa may have begun fortifying his physical health thanks to herbology and spiritual well-being seen in his recent peaceful protest. Still, the Memphis native remains true to his musical roots. The last few years have been good to the musician, as he’s managed to be featured on 50 Cent’s television show Raising Kanan theme song, and he’s hinted at potentially working with rap’s newest it girl, Ice Spice.

For now, the rapper is focused on ironing out his plans for 2023, starting with a new project titled Cottonwood 2. The lead single from the project, “23,” produced by Tay Keith, is a taste of what’s to come.

On Instagram, Choppa shared on the project he is looking to dive further into the theme of rebirth, writing, “Death to what no longer serves you,” he said. “Death to old cycles. Death to old/bad habits. Death to friendships/relationships. Death to the simplest thing like my hair. Death to everything holding back the new.”

Lil $o$o’s ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Florida Girl’ Is A Fierce Display Of Hometown Pride

There’s something in the Florida water. From the City Girls to Kodak Black, with a long list of others, the Sunshine State has been the stomping ground for hip-hop’s culture shifters. Rapper Lil $o$o is looking to keep that tradition alive. Despite being native to Chicago, since moving to Miami in her early childhood, she’s proudly claimed it as her musical home.

For her latest appearance on UPROXX Sessions, she puts that hometown pride on the line performing her single, “Florida Girl.” If you’re a fan of Issa Rae’s HBO Max show, Rap Sh!t starring fellow Florida rapper KaMillion, you might have heard that track.

When asked about the inspiration behind the track, Lil $o$o replied, “I’m a true Florida girl, so I’m glad I got to share my experiences with people who also represent Florida like I do. Having my song on TV makes me feel like my hard work is paying off and also encourages me to work harder and become a better artist.”

YBN Nahmir’s Ferocious ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Lamborghini Truck’ Shows That He’s Not To Be Played With

Cordae may have dropped the “YBN” prefix from his name, but that hasn’t his former collaborator YBN Nahmir from carrying it on his back. With a discography featuring 21 Savage, the City Girls, Offset, and G-Eazy, to name a few, the Birmingham native has fought tooth and nail for his spot in today’s hip-hop ecosystem after exploding onto the scene in 2018 with “Rubbin Off The Paint.”

The inner fighter has been the core of his growing musical archive. During his last stop by UPROXX Sessions, YBN Nahmir performed his flexy track “Spend It“; this go-round he spices it up with a ferocious in-studio performance of his single “Lamborghini Truck” from his 7-track EP Faster Car Music, Vol. 1. For some flexing is a hobby, but for YBN Nahmir, it is a lifestyle, and he’s ready to protect it at all cost.

Ye Ali Introspective ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Autumn’s Here’ Should Serve As A Wakeup Call

We may be in the thick of winter, but according to our latest UPROXX Sessions, the seasons are more of a mindset than an absolute. For Los Angeles-based producer and rapper Ye Ali, this thinking has given his career the push it needed. With production credits on releases from Doja Cat, Jack Harlow, and Kehlani, the musician has been a fixture in hip-hop for some time.

Ali’s growing discography, including his debut project Traphouse Jodeci, tethers together the softness of R&B against the brashness of West Coast rap, and his latest mixtape, Private Suite 4, is no exception. The body of work dropped in November 2022 and is his strongest showing to date. The entertainer dropped by UPROXX Sessions to perform the project’s opener, produced by VOVO and Gabe Lucas.

As he raps, “See me out in public, yeah, I love to watch the opp switch / But you know me, once I get on, it ain’t no off switch/ Put yourself on like I did, that’s the plot twist / Yeah, I quit my job, but since then I’ve lockеd in / I was workin’ at that dealership, thinkin’ if I blow up tomorrow I ain’t gon’ be back hеre leasin’ whips / Left me all alone in this water, told me, ‘Sink or swim,’” Ali gets introspective. He’s traveled a long road to land where he is today.

Morray Leaves It All On The Line For His ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Letter To Myself’

J. Cole may have made trap soul artist Morray scrap his album a few times claiming that he wasn’t ready for the spotlight it would bring, but his performance for UPROXX Sessions proves he’s not far off.

The Fayetteville, North Carolina native has built a strong musical foundation with a long list of impressive singles, including “Momma’s Love,” “Still Here,” with Cordae, “Never Fail” featuring Benny The Butcher, and “Trenches.” Fans have quickly fallen in love with Morray. The musician’s rustic, soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics draw listeners in, and every time he touches a mic or hits the booth he bares another piece of his soul, leaving it all on the line.

In a music landscape flooded by artists bragging about their abilities to not feel anything, Morray is the antithesis of this trend bringing his unabashed vulnerability to UPROXX Sessions for a moving performance.

Lil Gnar Catches A Vibe In His ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Almighty Gnar’

Atlanta-based skateboarder-turned-rapper Lil Gnar has come a long way since he entered hip-hop back in 2018. Since signing with Chief Keef’s label 43B, Gnar has several projects, including Gran Lif3, Fire Hazard, and most recently Die Bout It. With nearly a dozen prominent collaborations under his belt, including Lil Uzi Vert, Rico Nasty, Trippie Redd, Ski Mask the Slump God, and more, Gnar is stepping out of his ‘SoundCloud rap’ label as he strives for mainstream success.

Bridging together his skate culture and fashion influences, Gnar delivers a unique blend of emo and rap to each of his tracks which, at times, can lean metal. His single, “Almighty Gnar,” is an excellent example of this crossover fusion. Styled in his clothing brand, GNARCOTIC, threads, Lil Gnar stopped by UPROXX Sessions for a mellow in-studio performance of the track.

Day Sulan’s Bossed Up ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Will ‘Teach U How To Play’ Today’s Slippery Dating Field

Since bursting onto the rap scene in March 2020, 4HUNNID Record’s first lady, Day Sulan, has hit the ground running, refusing to let the pandemic slow down her career. After experiencing success with singles “Bailar” with YG and “Big” featuring Rubi Rose, the Compton native has begun to find her footing in the hip-hop community. Now with the support of her label owner, frequent collaborator, and fellow Compton native YG, she’s ready to conquer the game one track at a time, starting with her UPROXX Sessions performance of her single “Teach U How To Play.”

Sulan’s determination to be rap music’s next top act is fueled by the many obstacles she faced growing up in South Central Los Angeles. From her past as an exotic dancer to finding herself tied up in California’s vicious gang culture, the Black and Vietnamese recording artist hasn’t let that hinder her from accomplishing her goals.

In an interview with Kazi Magazine, Sulan reminisced on her trials, stating, “I did not have much guidance, so I had to figure everything out on my own. It was hard, but I knew it was best for me to get it done.”

Or, as she explained to REVOLT, “I have some sh*t to accomplish because of how much he’s done for me,” adding, “[YG] making me the first lady of 4HUNNID… I have to go crazy. It’s not an option, it’s a mandatory thing.”

Lil Soso’s Breathless ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Teaches Listeners How To ‘Catch A Trick’

South Florida rapper Lil Soso released her debut mixtape, Soso World, on Lunchmoney Lewis’ Lunchbox Records earlier this year, but she isn’t resting on her laurels. Last month, she followed up with the high-speed single “Catch A Trick,” and today, her UPROXX Sessions performance of the new track demonstrates its potential as an attention-grabbing earworm that details exactly how to get a man to do her bidding and spend freely on her.

In an interview with The Source, she said of the track, “It’s meant for the girls who wanna let loose, go travel, hang with friends, and just enjoy life… I’m young and like to have fun so my music reflects that.”

Soso signed with Lunchmoney Records banking on the producer’s prior chemistry with well-known hitmakers like Doja Cat, City Girls, Saweetie, and Nicki Minaj. So far, their partnership has produced a few potential hits, including “Bad Attitude,” “Florida Girl,” and “Woo Tang,” which all appear on Soso World. While she’s still at the very earliest part of her career, it’ll probably be worth keeping an eye out for her. In fact, the Issa Rae featured her song “Florida Girl” in the first season of her innovative HBO Max show, Rap Sh!t.

“It’s great to know that she sees the value in what I’m creating,” she said of the moment. “I’m a true Florida girl, so I’m glad I got to share my experiences with people who also represent Florida like I do. Having my song on TV makes me feel like my hard work is paying off and also encourages me to work harder and become a better artist.” Yup, it seems like Lil $o$o’s rise is primed to be an exciting journey to witness.

4L JAVI Isn’t A Lover Boy In His ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Of ‘Playboy’

Riverside, California’s 4L Javi is the rapper-singer you don’t want to miss. On this year’s project Letters 2 U, he flexes his range of singing and rapping through love stories fitting for a young adult just trying to figure it out. Javi’s sound fits into a new wave of West Coast rappers bringing the best of R&B and rap into their projects— think Kalan.FrFr, Blxst, and MCM Raymond. On his track “Playboy,” he takes the crooning and honesty of R&B but positions himself as solely a rapper over Michigan-style production.

He makes his Sessions debut performing the track, affirming his anti-loverboy status with lyrics like “retail therapy, I don’t need a therapist,” and “I never learned to love, I was always wit’ the pits.” His cadence is laid-back and fitting for a SoCal rapper, reminiscent of an Ice Cube or a more contemporary Huey Briss. With his Sessions performance of “Playboy,” 4L Javi proves himself to be up next.
