Lil Gnar’s Gnarcotic Rules Of Fashion Class For UPROXX Is In Session

He isn’t called “Almighty Gnar” for no reason. Before 43 B’s signee, Lil Gnar, made a splash in the music scene thanks to collaborations with Rico Nasty, Trippie Redd, Ski Mask the Slump God, and more, the Atlanta-based rapper was a thriving fashion designer.

His clothing brand, GNARCOTIC, worn by Future, Chris Brown, and Lil Uzi Vert, to name a few, features his love for skateboard culture and his passion for visual art expressed through his numerous tattoos. Lil Gnar’s unique fashion senses paved the way for his entry into music, so he’s giving out free game to his fellow musicians and fans to find their style.

Musicians are often at the forefront of most of the biggest fashion trends, but to avoid ending up on the worst-dressed list for any red-carpet appearance, Lil Gnar stopped by the Uproxx Studio to give us his top five fashion rules to live by. Our favorite of the rules, be comfortable both mentally and physically. As Lil Gnar says, “don’t try to put that sh*t too hard where you’re feeling funny and walking funny.”

Outside of Gnarcotic Rules, catch Lil Gnar and his stylist drip in his recent UPROXX Sessions performance.

Lil Gnar Catches A Vibe In His ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Almighty Gnar’

Atlanta-based skateboarder-turned-rapper Lil Gnar has come a long way since he entered hip-hop back in 2018. Since signing with Chief Keef’s label 43B, Gnar has several projects, including Gran Lif3, Fire Hazard, and most recently Die Bout It. With nearly a dozen prominent collaborations under his belt, including Lil Uzi Vert, Rico Nasty, Trippie Redd, Ski Mask the Slump God, and more, Gnar is stepping out of his ‘SoundCloud rap’ label as he strives for mainstream success.

Bridging together his skate culture and fashion influences, Gnar delivers a unique blend of emo and rap to each of his tracks which, at times, can lean metal. His single, “Almighty Gnar,” is an excellent example of this crossover fusion. Styled in his clothing brand, GNARCOTIC, threads, Lil Gnar stopped by UPROXX Sessions for a mellow in-studio performance of the track.

Chief Keef Announces New 43B Label and Signing Lil Gnar

Chief Keef Announces New 43B Label and Signing Lil Gnar

In collaboration with RBC Records/BMG, Chief Keef has announced the launch of his new label 43B. Chief Keef has released a slew of albums through RBC since 2014, including fan favorites Sorry 4 The Weight, Thot Breaker, and Mansion Musick. RBC was acquired by BMG in 2018, paving the way for Keef’s new deal with BMG. 43B is a multi-tiered label that provides distribution and marketing services for artists and producers that are changing music and culture, as well as the resources, mentorship, and infrastructure they need to succeed in today’s music industry.

43B means Forget Everybody, which emphasizes the significance of individualism and autonomy, two characteristics that have shaped Keef’s career as an artist. Idris Dykes, Chief Keef’s longtime manager, will work as co-CEO, while Sophie Kautz, who has been named as Head of A&R and Marketing, will lead the label. Chief Keef is also excited to announce his first artist signing, Atlanta-based rapper Lil Gnar, with the debut of 43B. Chief Keef’s new enterprise, 43B, is a labor of love for him, and Lil Gnar represents the principles and vision he wishes to instill with it.

Chief Keef Launches 43B, A New Label With BMG, And Signs Lil Gnar

Chief Keef is only 26 years old, but he’s already a recording industry veteran. His career started back in 2012 when he was just 16, and it comprises four studio albums, four EPs, and 38(!) self-released mixtapes. While the majority of his projects were released under the auspices of his own Glory Boyz Entertainment or Glo Gang imprints, he’s cycled through a variety of distribution partners, including Interscope, RBC Records, and 101 Distribution. However, it looks like he’s finally getting an official label, 43B, through which he’ll release projects for his own signees beginning with Atlanta upstart Lil Gnar.

Gnar has been recording and releasing music since 2018 and has been affiliated with the SoundCloud “rage rap” movement since, working with such contemporaries as Craig Xen, Lil Skies, Lil Tracy, Lil Yachty, Ski Mask The Slump God, and Trippie Redd, with videos directed by Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett. He dropped his first official full-length album Die Bout It earlier this year with features from the late Lil Keed, YSL associate Yak Gotti, and his new label boss, Chief Keef.

In a statement, Chief Keef called 43B a “passion project,” and said he looks forward to passing on his hard-won industry knowledge to younger artists (Gnar is 26, too, but presumably less experienced in the music business). “43B has been a passion project of mine for over a year and I’m ready to give artists that are changing the game a label where they can really succeed,” he said. “I’ve been independent for almost 10 years, so I want to pass on my knowledge of the industry to artists who are shifting the culture so they can make it to the top.”

Meanwhile, BMG head of A&R and marketing Sophie Kautz said, “43B will operate on an artist-friendly model, giving our artists and producers the means to flourish in their careers.”
