Jhonni Blaze’s ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Pleads ‘Don’t Fall Out Of Love’

Today on UPROXX Sessions, model-turned-singer Jhonni Blaze stops by to make a simple request: “Don’t Fall Out Of Love.” She released the new single, which features Ne-Yo, last week; in her performance, she puts all the passion and pleading the premise warrants on display.

Her first release of the year, “Don’t Fall Out Of Love” precedes the expected release of Blaze’s first project since 2018’s 5:12. Other stars expected to feature on the collection include NLE Choppa, Popp Hunna, and Miami rap legend Trina.

A veteran of reality TV, featuring on such shows as Love & Hip-Hop: New York and Growing Up Hip-Hop, the singer’s burgeoning career is set to kick into a higher gear in 2023, picking up momentum with the release of “Don’t Fall Out Of Love.”

Hunxho Laments Not Staying ‘True To My Religion’ On ‘UPROXX Sessions’

Atlanta rapper Hunxho stops by UPROXX Sessions this week to deliver a heartfelt performance of his penitent song “True To My Religion.” The track, which appears on Hunxho’s March album 22, finds him lamenting his inability to stick to his principles due to his precarious circumstances. Reminiscing on his rough upbringing, Hunxho worries that he’ll be unable to remain true to his religion if he wants to make it out.

22 was released on a super-tight turnaround from Hunxho’s previous project, Humble As Ever, which he dropped just two months before, in January. Humble As Ever came out only six months after Xhosen, Hunxho’s 2022 mixtape named after his son. In an interview with Uproxx for that mixtape, Hunxho explained how he keeps up such a relentless pace.

“If I could, I would drop another tape this week,” he said. “I be putting some of the most recent sh*t on the tape, but while I’m putting the tape together, I’m still making the music. So, I might start something new and put something else on there… It’s important for me to keep making music.”

ASTN Asks ‘How Soon’ Is Too Soon To Move On In A Passionate Performance For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

It’s a question many of us have found ourselves asking in the wake of a breakup: “How Soon” is too soon to move on? UPROXX Sessions‘ latest guest, Austin Sanders, better known as ASTN, turned that question into the foundation of his moody breakthrough single, which finds him wondering whether moving on is the right choice if it just hurts his ex even more.

Of his latest single, he said, “I’ve always been perceptive of others’ feelings and would consider myself an empath. That made it really hard for me to make any sort of selfish decision, even if it was the right decision. Moving on from someone isn’t as easy as some people make it seem, and that’s what ‘How Soon’ represents for me. There’s no guideline to follow. There’s no set of rules. I just finally did what was right for me.”

Hailing from Florida and based in Los Angeles, ASTN had his first brush with fame in 2021 after he covered Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever.” His soulful rendition garnered a viral following and since then, he’s been on a steady climb to stardom, releasing a string of EPs of original tunes like “How Soon” and “Gradually,” signing to Warner Records in 2022. With a musical style reminiscent of R&B Justin Bieber and much more empathetic Brent Faiyaz, it’s only a matter of time before ASTN is the star he already has the chops to be.

Xian Bell Performs The Plaintive ‘Dollar And A Promise’ For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

LA rapper and singer Xian Bell is six months removed from his album Crenshaw At Midnight, but he reached way back in his catalog for his UPROXX Sessions performance, drawing from his 2019 debut album You Were In My Dream for one of his most popular tracks, “Dollar And A Promise.”

Bringing along a DJ and a keyboardist, Bell showed off the fruits of his efforts in the gym as he rapped the emotive, apologetic song. The smooth track finds Xian working through the tension between chasing his dream and being there for the woman he loves.

Bell has begun to receive increased exposure in the past few years thanks to his collaborations with TDE rapper Reason and rising 1Take crew member 1TakeOcho. With the right push, he could be the latest indie rapper from California to catch fire.

Maxo Decries The ‘Face Of Stone’ Portrayed By A Fake Friend For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

Los Angeles underground rapper Maxo makes his UPROXX Sessions debut with a performance of his song “Face Of Stone,” which appears on his February album Even God Has A Sense of Humor.

The song, produced by Detroit beatmaker Karreim Riggins, finds Maxo reflecting on the emotional damage that often lies behind the stoic “faces of stone” of his peers and the dissolution of a friendship he can see through the change in demeanor from warm to cold. “I see the stone in your stare, you often escaping your feelings,” he rhymes. “Lost, claiming you healing / Often you bitin’ your fingers, tossin’ at night when you sleepin’ / Why ain’t you speaking what your heart think?”

Maxo — who is not to be confused with the similarly-named Maxo Kream — has released two albums through Def Jam. The first, Lil Big Man, dropped in 2019. While the low-key rapper hasn’t yet risen to the heights of collaborators like Earl Sweatshirt and Navy Blue, he’s begun to distinguish himself as a distinctive voice in the rap world that fans should definitely pay attention to.

Chlöe Puts Her Dynamic Range On Full Display To Perform ‘How Does It Feel’ On ‘UPROXX Sessions’

Fresh off the release of her debut solo album, In Pieces, buzzing pop-R&B vocalist Chlöe popped by Uproxx Studios to deliver a virtuoso performance of her album’s Usher-sampling second single “How Does It Feel.”

While the single’s controversial guest star, Chris Brown, doesn’t make a physical appearance, Chlöe opts to leave Brown’s vocals intact, keeping a melodic counterpoint to her own dazzling display of dynamic range.

Chlöe confronted the criticism about her collaboration with Chris Brown head-on recently, telling Big Tigger of her hometown radio station V-103 Atlanta, “I always just wanna let the music speak for itself, and to be honest, no matter what I do, people always find things to say about it, so I’m used to it. I just choose to ignore it. People have every right to their opinions, freedom of speech, and it’s up to me to choose what I give my attention and energy to.”

In a separate interview on another Atlanta radio station, Chlöe likewise brushed off some of the main criticisms of her new album, saying, “The same people who say that weren’t fans of Halle and [me] when we had our Ungodly Hour album out… So, it’s a bunch of people who are just putting in their two cents now just to really say things.”

And just to hammer the point home, during the opening of her tour for the album, she displayed some of the most common critiques, while telling haters, “They can kiss my Black ass.”

That’s how she feels, since everybody else gets a say.

Dende’s ‘Uproxx Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Nightmares’ Should Have Other Musicians Waking Up In Cold Sweats

As the age-old saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas. Musician Dende is here to prove that this also applies to the music scene. The “Georgia” recording artist has found the perfect balance of creative endeavors. From his work as a singer, rapper, producer, and instrumentalist, Dende has laid the groundwork for his latest album, ’95 Civic.

Dende dropped by Uproxx Studios for a tear-jerking performance of his single, “Nightmares,” off his album for Uproxx Sessions. The track outlines a devastating denial post-breakup. Dende carries that heartbreaking vulnerability with him into his performance as he uses a vile to serve as a symbol of his runaway lover.

Singing, “Early mornin’ / When I miss you most inside my bed / You be runnin’ laps inside my head / But I just keep movin’ on ahead, yeah / Late at night / When I just can’t sleep, my heart is heavy / ’Cause I miss you here to hold me steady,” Dende simultaneously holds back tears as he recounts the events.

When discussing his latest album, in a statement, Dende said, “Releasing ’95 Civic feels like the last thing I needed to do to move on to the next phase of my life. Although it’s a sad project, the time it allowed me to spend with A&R Mizz and producer Billy Blunt is something I will never forget. This is our best work yet.”

TeaMarrr’s ‘Uproxx Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Stunt Double’ Is Filled With High-Energy Musical Punches

Los Angeles, California, has long since been a mecca of music hopefuls but singer, songwriter, and overall music badass TeaMarrr’s divine abilities hail from Boston by way of Haiti. With songs like “Colors” featuring Wale and “Pipe Dreams” (which was featured on the soundtrack to Issa Rae’s hit series Insecure), the recording artist is craving a lane for herself amongst the sea of musical acts.

Since signing with Issa Rae’s Raedio label, her reach has continued to spread far and beyond any one region. Combining her raw vocal abilities with her clever rap skills wrapped in her spunk personality TeaMarrr is the most promising multi-hyphenated musician based on the west coast. Moneybagg Yo’s ‘Uproxx Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Quickie’ Will Get In The Mood… For New Music

Moneybagg Yo is one of the hottest names in hip-hop music. But it is important to note that the Memphis rapper’s rise to the top wasn’t overnight, nor was it a fast climb. However, that’s not the case when it comes to his tussles in the sheets. On his raunchy track “Quickie,” the musician makes it abundantly clear that he’s not opposed to a lighting round of lovemaking.

Bagg might play around with the toxic love jokes on social media or on his collaborative track with GloRilla, but he’s a loverboy at heart. On “Quickie” he raps, “Told her, ‘Make a wish’ / ’11:11,’ what she tweeted, let me be your genie / Sneaky linkin’, we don’t tell it (uh) / Kissin’, touchin’, breathin’ heavy (uh) / Foreplay session got you ready (go) / Beat it, but I don’t support domestic (no).”

Bagg brought that same swagged-out energy to his UPROXX Sessions performance of the fan-favorite track. Be sure to keep a lookout for his forthcoming album, Hard To Love, set to be released soon.

Fenix Flexin’s ‘Uproxx Sessions’ Performance Ensures That ‘We On It’ And His Music In Every Capacity

Fenix Flexin found success earlier in his music career thanks partly to his contributions to several platinum singles and acclaimed full-length projects as a collective. Now, as a solo act, the West Coast rapper is looking to continue the streak.

After securing collaborations with the late Drakeo the Ruler and D-Block Europe on his project, Fenix Flexin Vol. 1, released in 2021, Fenix is well on his way. To show just how ready he is, the recording artist dropped by the UPROXX studio for a zealous in-studio performance of his song, “We On It.”

Quickly after the video went live, fans began to pour into the comment section to sing his praises. One user even shared how Fenix is, but according to the rapper, this won’t be for too long.
